구조 디자이너란 무엇을 하는 사람인가. 일찍이 비트루비우스가 건축을 구성하는 3요소로서 '기능', '구조', '미'를 이야기할 때에는 이것이 각각 독립된 것이 아니라, 개체적 아름다움이 최선을 발휘하면서 서로 조화를 이루어 유기적인 관계를 가질 때 가장 '좋은 건축'이 이루어진다고 생각하였으리라. 이 원고에서는 최근 일본에서 완성된 몇몇 건축물중에서 구조 디자이너의 역할을 유감없이 발휘하면서, 구조가 보여줄 수 있는 아름다움을 잘 표현하고 있는 대표적인 구조디자이너인 와타나베 쿠니오를 통하여 그가 생각하는 구조 디자인, 구조 디자이너의 역할, 그리고 건축교육에 대해 논하고자 한다. 참고로 이 글중 '작품을 통해서 본 구조 디자이너의 역할'은 'SDG'으로부터 받은 자료를 바탕으로 필자가 정리한 것이며, '마키 후미후코씨의 평가'는 마쿠하리 메세의 건축과정에서 와타나베 쿠니오의 역할에 대한 코멘트를 부탁하여 받은 구두발언을 정리한 것이다.

We constructed a laser-heated pedestal growth station using a 25 W $CO_2$ laser to grow various single crystal fibers. The LHPG system consists of the optical system which includes a reflaxicon, an elliptic mirror and a parabolic mirror with their centers drilled, and the translation system to move a source and a seed independently. To test the system, we pulled a few ruby fibers with diameter of 600 ${\mu}m$ and length of 2 cm, and studied characteristics of their photoluminescence.

Prodrugs of flurbiprofen, 1,2-ethanediolester(FE) and 1,4-butanediolester(FB) were prepared and their biopharmaceutical studies were performed. The prodrugs showed high stability in simulated gastric fluid, simulated intestinal fluid and pancreatin-saturated solution. Pharmacokinetic parameters of the prodrugs were similar to those of their parent drug. However they showed less acute toxicity and gastric irritation and higher anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

가공용 레이저로는 $CO_2$, 루비, Nd:YAG, 아르곤 이온 레이저 등이 이용되고 있으며, 이중 펄스형 Nd:YAG 레이저는 $CO_2$ 레이저와 함께 레이저 가공에 널리 사용되는 고체 레이저로서 마킹(making), 트리밍(trimming), 리페어링(repairing) 등의 정밀 가공 분야에서 많은 실용화가 이루어져 왔다.$^{(1)}$ $CO_2$ 레이저의 경우 매질가스로 $CO_2$, $N_2$, He 등을 사용해야하므로 취급 및 유지보수가 불편하지만, 열전도율이 높고, 기계적 광학적으로 안정된 Nd:YAG 레이저는 램프에 의한 광 여기 방식이므로 유지보수가 쉽다. 또한 광 출력의 제어가 용이하며, 광파이버에 의한 빔 전송이 가능하여 산업기술 및 의료 분야에서의 적용이 더욱 더 확대되고 있다.$^{(2)}$ (중략)

본 논문에서는 그림을 그려서 원하는 이미지를 그리고, 이를 인식하여 상품을 찾아주는 정보전달 방식을 제안한다. 사용자가 원하는 이미지에 맞는 상품을 검색할 수 있도록 하는데, 그림 그리기가 가능하고, 개인의 "공감", "신뢰"를 실현하는 공간과 개인과 기업을 연결해주는 정보성 검색으로 쇼핑몰을 연계하는 것을 목표로 한다. 본문 내에서는 고객이 직접 찾는 디자인을 간단히 그리면 비슷한 그림의 상품이 나오게 되는 공간을 제작, 상품이 나오면 기업과의 연계를 통하여 구매로까지 이어질 수 있는 공간을 제시하는 것을 목표로 한다.

접근제어는 권한이 있는 사용자에게 데이터에 접근할 수 있도록 제한하는 것을 말한다. 본 논문에서는 웹 주소록과 일정관리 기능을 여러 사용자가 공유할 수 있게 하기 위해서 접근제어 기법을 적용한 웹사이트를 개발하였다. 접근권한을 기술하기 위하여 그룹의 개념을 도입하여 그룹일정에 대해서 공유범위를 설정할 수 있게 하였다. 한편 주소록과 일정관리 데이터를 vCard와 vCalendar 등의 마이크로포맷 표준을 도입 하였다. 그리고 최근 웹 2.0 기술로 주목받고 있는 루비 온 레일스(Ruby on Rails) 프레임워크를 사용하여 구현 하였다.

This study was conducted to investigate the growth and quality characteristics of melon (Cucumis melo L.) cultivars and the irrigation requirements for cultivars. In our previous study in 2019, twelve melon cultivars including 'Dalgona' were examined for their cultivar characteristics under the same irrigation condition for all cultivars, and sorted into several groups based on different growth condition; for the internode length (from 0 to 20th node), leaf area, and fruit weight, 'Kingstar' belonged to the largest group, 'Worldstar' the middle group, and 'Dalgona' the smallest group. After analyzing the results of the previous experiment, 'Dalgona', 'Worldstar', 'Kingstar', and 'Rubyball' were selected as test cultivars for the growth group in 2020, and irrigated according to different irrigation levels for each cultivar. The control of the irrigation volume for each melon cultivar by monitoring the drainage rate during the cultivation periods showed that all four cultivars required a similar amount of irrigation in the 'early growth' stage where crops grew at about the same rate. From 'flowering time', however, the change in irrigation requirements showed a similar tendency for 'Worldstar' and 'Kingstar' and for 'Rubyball' and 'Dalgona' respectively. A sudden change in each irrigation volume was observed from the fruit set; 'Dalgona' began first to decline and 'Rubyball' was second, followed by 'Worldstar' and 'Kingstar'. In conclusion, the irrigation volume was the largest in 'Kingstar', followed by 'Worldstar', 'Rubyball', and 'Dalgona' in the same order as the growing amount of plant length, leaf area, and fruit weight. Therefore, it is necessary to control exactly the irrigation volume by reflecting the unique growth characteristics of each cultivar for the production of high-quality fruit in melon hydroponics, and especially to use great care when different cultivars are cultivated together.

The analytical method of HPLC with the radial-flow electrochemical cell (RFEC) has been developed to determine doxorubicin, epirubicin, nogalamycin, daunorubicin and idarubicin simultaneously by employing a reversed-phase chromatography. Anthracyclines were detected at -0.74 V vs. a Ag/AgCl (0.01 M NaCl) reference electrode, a potential of diffusion current plateau in the mobile phase. At a $V_f$ of 1.0 mL/min doxorubicin, epirubicin, daunorubicin and idarubicin appeared at a retention time ($t_r$) of 6.4 min, 7.4 min, 12.7 min and 18.4 min, respectively, while at a $V_f$ of 0.6 mL/min, doxorubicin, epirubicin, nogalamycin, daunorubicin and idarubicin appeared at a $t_r$ of 9.9 min, 11.5 min, 13.5 min, 19.6 min and 28.7 min, respectively. The linearity between each anthracycline injected ($2.40{\times}10^{-7}M{\sim}1.42{\times}10^{-5}M$) and peak area (charge) was excellent with the square of the correlation coefficient ($R^2$) higher than 0.999. The detection limits were $1.0{\times}10^{-8}M{\sim}1.5{\times}10^{-7}M$ for the five anthracyclines. Within-day precision for the five anthracyclines were in reasonable relative standard deviations less than 3 % ($1.00{\times}10^{-6}M{\sim}1.42{\times}10^{-5}M$) except the lower concentrations less than $0.7{\mu}M$. Solid phase extractions of $1.00{\times}10^{-5}M$ epirubicin, $0.48{\times}10^{-5}M$ nogalamycin and $1.52{\times}10^{-5}M$ daunorubicin from human serum with a $C_{18}$ cartridge resulted in 97 %, 100 % and 90 % of recoveries, respectively.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) concentrations on fruit quality of small-sized RubyS apples during cold storage. After harvesting, the fruits were treated with 1-MCP at 0.5 or 1 µL/L concentrations and, subsequently, stored at 0℃ for 6 months. After 6 months, the flesh firmness of untreated fruits, which was 85.4 N at harvest, had gradually decreased to 46.5 N; however, that of 1-MCP-treated fruits was maintained at 59.1 and 59.5 N. Titratable acidity (TA) of untreated fruits had also decreased from 0.42 to 0.24%, whereas that of 1-MCP-treated fruits was maintained at 0.26 and 0.27%. Soluble solids content (SSC) did not differ in all fruits. However, the 1-MCP-treated fruits had lower levels of SSC/TA ratio than untreated fruits. Moreover, after 6 months, the ethylene production had increased to 47.0 µL/kg/h in the untreated fruits, whereas 1-MCP blocked the ethylene production at 1.4 and 1.7 µL/kg/h. The weight loss and peel color variables remained unaffected by 1-MCP treatments. Thus, these results indicated that, for RubyS apples, the storability was only 2 months at 0℃ without treatment, which can be extended to 6 months with 1-MCP treatments. The application of 1-MCP at 0.5 µL/L concentration is effectively and economically sufficient to maintain the quality of RubyS apples.

This study was designed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Rhubarb extracts ($Rubenal^{(R)}$) in dogs with chronic renal failure (CRF). Client-owned 40 dogs with CRF graded International renal interest Society (IRIS) II-III were enrolled in this study. The dogs were equally allocated and blindly administered with $Rubenal^{(R)}$ or placebo. The following items were evaluated at day 0, 30, 90 and 180: body condition score (BCS), clinical score (appetite, polydipsia/polyuria, quality of life score), hemogram (WBC, RBC, PCV), serum biochemistry (ALT/AST, ALP, Creatinine/BUN, total protein, albumin), serum electrolyte (Na, K, Cl, Ca, P), systolic blood pressure, urinalysis (UPC, USG) and IRIS stage. In this study, we found that the $Rubenal^{(R)}$ preparation was well tolerated by dogs and induced no adverse effects. Statistically significant improvements were observed in clinical score (quality of life score by vet and clients), serum BUN and creatinine levels, serum phosphorus concentration, level of proteinuria, and the IRIS score of CRF in dogs after 6 month of treatment of $Rubenal^{(R)}$. Those findings suggested that the Rhubarb extracts can improve the clinical signs of CRF (i.e. azotemia, hypertension, proteinuria, hyperphosphoremia) and the quality of life (i.e. BCS, clinical score) and can retard the progression of CRF in dogs. Therefore the Rhubarb extracts can be a good supplementary drug for treating dogs with subclinical and clinical renal diseases. However, care should be taken for interpreting our result, because this study is not double-blinded controlled study but pilot study.
