Reduction of the Roll-Over of the Sector Tooth for Achieving Improved Recliner Locking Performance (리클라이너 결합 성능 향상을 위한 섹터투스의 롤오버 저감 방법)

  • In this study, effective forming methods for reducing the roll-over of a sector tooth, which is a main component of an automotive seat recliner, are proposed. Due to the large amount of roll-over, accurate contact between the inner gear of a sector tooth and the outer gear of a pawl tooth cannot be normally achieved; thus sensitivity and safety for the passengers decrease. To overcome the aforementioned drawback, we investigated the effect of flowcontrol forming methods involving local embossing die, coining punch, and VIC (Variable Inverse Clearance) on the roll-over depth by FE-analysis and an experiment. The results of a fine-blanking experiment for verifying the proposed methods showed that VIC type is decidedly superior from the aspects of reduction of roll-over and tool strength of the sector tooth.

  • During the tube hydropiercing, the region adjacent to the pierced hole will be deformed and will be drawn away from the die block as the punch advances through the wall of the tube. The deformation in the region may range from a substantially flat form to a countersunk form, so called rollover. In this study, the effects of material properties, shape of piercing punches, roundness of tube surface and internal pressure within the tube during piercing on the rollover have been investigated experimentally. The results provide the quantitative variation of rollover at given hydropiercing parameters, and a relationship between the deformed radius and the rollover caused by the deformation has been established.

  • In this paper, we propose a software algorithm that can configure n-key roll-over that detects all keys without limitation on the number of pressed keys in the dynamic scanning detection of a keyboard composed of a matrix. The proposed algorithm uses the timer interrupt of the microcontroller for computer keyboard control, so that a constant and accurate detection interval can be obtained, and an accurate debounce time can be provided. In order to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a microcontroller was connected to a toy keyboard constructed in the form of a clavier and experiments were conducted. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that detection of all keys was performed accurately regardless of the number of keys pressed.

  • For manufacturing trimming-free plates which have rectangular shaped edges and straight edges in as-rolled state, it is necessary to investigate rolling characteristics of overlap, bulge and width deviation etc. in a standardized plate rolling process. The present wok is for preventing edge overlap as the first approach to develop trimming-free plate rolling technique. An experimental study on overlap control was done with plasticine material in order to examine influence factors and find a control method by use of a laboratory mill scaled down to one tenth of actual production mill. It was found that edge overlapping was increased with the increase of slab thickness and of broadside rolling ratio, but decreased with the increase of chamfered amount on slab edges. In the simulated rolling experiment with edge chamfered slabs of various chamfered angles, the chamfered angle of 60.deg. was the most effective one for reducing overlapping irrespective of slab thickness and of broadside rolling ratio.

  • The ROM (roll over mitigation) system is a next-generation suspension system that can improve vehicle-driving stability and ride comfort. Currently, mass-produced safety systems, such as ESC (electronic stability control) and ECS (electronic control suspension), enable measurements of longitudinal and lateral acceleration as well as yaw rate through inertial sensor clusters, but they lack direct measurements of the roll angle. Therefore, in this paper, a roll angle estimation algorithm from ESC system sensors and tire normal force has been proposed. Furthermore, this study presents a method for roll over mitigation force distribution between the front and rear of a ROM system. Performance and reliability of the roll angle estimation and roll over mitigation force distribution were investigated through simulations. The simulation results showed that the proposed control algorithm and strategy are reliable during vehicle rollovers.

  • In case a measurement output of gyro sensor is an accumulated angle counts, it is usually provided as a binary bit counter which is allowed to roll-over at its maximum or minimum value. And it is a well known fact that the roll-over behavior restricts the measurement range of the processed sensor output below the actual measurable range of sensor hardware itself. In this study, a conventional sensor data processing method for a gyro with an accumulated angle output is introduced. And also, an improved method which can extend the processed output range over the conventional one is proposed. It is also derived that the increased range depends on the variation speed of a input signal. Finally, the derived equations and the performance of the proposed algorithm are verified using a computer simulation.

  • The roll forming process is often used to manufacture long, thin-walled products such as a pipe. The final cross-section is a comparatively simple open-channel, a closed tube section or a complex profile with several bends. In recent years, that process is often applied to the bumper beam in the automotive industries. In this study, a optimal Center Floor Cross Member manufacturing technology, model deign and proper roll-pass sequences can be suggested by forming number of roll-pass and bending angle, and also effects of the process parameters on the final shape formed by roll forming defects were evaluated.

In this process, each pair of forming rolls installed in a forming machine play a particular role in making up the required cross-section and longitudinal shape of the product. In recent years, that process is often applied to the bumper rail in the automotive industries. In this study, a optimal SILL SIDE manufacturing technology, model deign and proper roll-pass sequences can be suggested by forming number of roll-pass and bending angle. And also effects of the process parameters on the final shape formed by roll forming defects were evaluated.
