The Estrogenic Effects of Phthalates(DEHP, DBP) in Yeast Recombinant Assay (효모재조합 검색시험법을 이용한 DEHP, DBP의 에스트로젠 효과)

  • Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) were screened for estrogenic activity using a recombinant yeast screening system consisted with estrogen receptors and ${\beta}-galactosidase$ as reporter gene. The chemicals showed estrogenic activity in ranges of $1{\times}10^{-10}\;to\;1{\times}10^{-7}M(DEHP)\;and\;of\;1{\times}10^{-9}M\;to\;1{\times}10^{-6}M(DBP)$ respectively. $17{\beta}-estradiol$, as a positive control of, showed maximal activity at $1{\times}10^{-9}M$. The concentration of half-maximal estrogenic activity was $1{\times}10^{-9}M$ for both chemicals. However, the concentration of maximal estrogenic activity was $1{\times}10^{-7}M$ for DEHP and $1{\times}10^{-8}M$ M for DBP. These results suggested that DBP was higher in relative potencies and more sensitive than DEHP. In conclusion, DEHP and DBP were both estrogenic, even though DBP was more reactive to estrogen receptor.

Effect of Random Interesterification on the Physicochemical Properties in Blends of Corn Germ Oil and Fully Hydrogenated Soybean Oil (옥수수기름과 극도경화대두 혼합유의 이화학적 성질에 대한 무작위 에스테르 교환의 영향)

  • Effect of random interesterification on the physicochemical properties in blends of corn germ oil and fully hydrogenated soybean oil was studied. Interesterification by using 0.4% sodium methoxide at $80^{\circ}C$ was completed in 35 minutes as determined by HPLC analysis for triglyceride composition. Changes of melting point, solid fat content, crystal form, fatty acid and triglyceride composition was investigated. After the interesterification, melting point and solid fat content were decreased, and coarse and large crystals were modified to fine and uniform. Fatty acid composition was not altered but triglyceride composition was largely altered. Interesterified blends of corn germ oil and fully hydrogenated soybean oil made with 80%, 20% and 75%. 25%, respectively, had desirable characteristics of the margarine for home use.

  • 본 연구에서는 식물성유지와 메탄올로부터 전이에스테르화 반응에 의해 바이오디젤 제조에 사용되는 비균질촉매로 사용하기 위하여 NaX 제올라이트 촉매에 염기도를 향상시키기 위하여 KOH를 담지하여 담지량에 따른 바이오디젤 제조특성을 조사해보았다. KOH 담지량을 10wt% - 70wt%로 달리하여 Incipient wetness 방법으로 담지한후 $500^{\circ}C$에서 소성하여 촉매를 제조하고, 제조된 KOH의 담지량이 다른 KOH/NaX 제올라이트 촉매는 SEM, XRD, BET등을 통해 촉매특성을 평가하였고, 생성된 지방산 메틸에스테르는 가스크로마토그래피로 순도를 측정하였다. NaX 제올라이트 촉매에 KOH 담지량이 높은 경우와 촉매량이 많은 경우 바이오디젤제조에 유리하였고, 특히 반응시간과 반응온도는 $120^{\circ}C$, 2시간동안 반응한 경우 가장 좋은 지방산 메틸에스테르의 수율을 얻을 수 있었다.

Lipid Composition of Roe, Muscle and Viscus of Liza Carinata, a Species of the Mugilidae Family (등줄숭어의 알, 근육 및 내장의 지질조성에 관한 연구)

  • Total lipids from the roe, muscle and viscus of L. carinata were analyzed for lipid composition by column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography and gas-liquid chromatography. The roe lipids were characterized by a high level of wax esters (63.1%) and a low proportion of trigiycerides (9.9%). The viscus lipids also contained wax esters (32.8%) as its main component, followed by free fatty alcohols and acids (23.5%). On the other hand, the muscle lipids were found to contain a large amount of triglycerides (66.1%) with a trace of wax esters. The main fatty alcohol component of roe and viscus wax esters was C16:0 alcohol (53.0%; 61.7%), accompanied by C18:1 alcohol (10.2%) in the former and by C15:0 alcohol (8.8%) in the latter. Considerable amounts of odd-numbered fatty alcohols were found in both wax esters. On the other hand, the fatty acids of the roe and viscus wax esters contained a high percentage of monounsaturated (49.7%-56.6%) consisting of C16:1, C18:1 and C17:1 acid, and a significant amount of polyunsaturated (41.2%-32.9%), particularly C20:5${\omega}$3. The fatty acid components of triglycerides and phospholipids were different among the tissues tested, especially between roe and muscle or viscus. The fatty acid compositions of free fatty acids from the muscle and viscus were characterized by a higher level of polyunsaturated fatty acids (46.0-34.3%) compared to those of triglycerides 'in the roe, muscle and viscus (28.4%, 19.4% and 19.2%).

  • (6-Cholesteryloxycarbonylpentoxypropyl)celluloses (CHPCs) with degree of esterification (DE) ranging from 2.25 to 2.91 were synthesized by reacting hydroxypropyl cellulose with 6-cholesteryloxycarbonylpentanoyl chloride. The acrylic esters of CHPCs (CHPCEs) and their photocrosslinked films with liquidcrystalline order were also synthesized. The thermotropic properties of mesophase for both uncrosslinked and crosslinked samples and the swelling behavior of the crosslinked samples in acetone were investigated. The hydroxypropyl cellulose exhibited an enantiotropic cholesteric phas, while all the uncrosslinked cholesterylbearing samples exhibited a monotropic cholesteric phases; the 6-cholesteryloxycarbonylpentanoyl chloride also showed a monotropic smectic phase. The hydroxypropyl cellulose formed a right-handed helix whose optical pitch (λ$\sub$m/) increases with temperature, whereas all the uncrosslinked derivatives farmed left-handed helices whose λ$\sub$m/'s decreased with temperature. The thermal stability of the mesophase and the magnitude of λ$\sub$m/ at the same temperature for both CHPCs and CHPCEs decreased with increasing DE. All the crosslinked samples, in constrast with CHPCEs, did not display reflection colors but exhibited an anisotropic swelling characteristic of crosslinked gel retaining liquid-crystalline order.

Vitellogenesis in Vertebrates and Environmental Estrogen (척추동물의 난황형성과 환경에스트로젠)

  • Vitellogenesis, an important reproductive process in oviparous animals, includes the processes of hormonally regulated synthesis of yolk precursor protein, vitellogenin (Vg), and their deposition in ovarian oocytes as a vitellin which is an important energy source as well as buoyancy regulator of the egg. Vg genes consist of a gene family that encompasses a large number of lipoproteins and produce different Mr. Vg proteins in liver. The expression of Vg is largely dependent on the estrogen, and both reproductive cycle and temperature also influence Vg synthesis. Synthetic estrogens or estrogenic pollutants was sufficient to induce Vg in both sexes of oviparous vertebrates. Therefore, the estrogenic induction of vitellogenesis in male has been used for biological marker in the screening of estrogenicity of certain endocrine disrupting compounds and the monitoring the world-wide contamination of estrogenic compounds in wild life. In the studies on the biological hazard and influence of endocrine disrupting chemicals using the Vg induction in oviparous males, it is important to consider the reproductive cycle, zoogeography and biodiversity of the wild life animals in Korea.

Phenolic Acid Composition and Antioxidative Activity of Chestnut Endoderm (밤 삽피의 페놀산 조성과 항산화 활성)

  • Free, soluble esterified and insoluble bounded phenolic acids were separated from Eungi chestnut endoderm. The composition and contents of phenolic acid were analyzed by gas chromatography, and their antioxidant activity was examined by DPPH assay, 2-deoxyribose oxidation, and ferric thiocyanate method. Gallic, ellagic, salicylic, and gentisic acids in free phenolic acid fraction, gallic, ellagic, and protocatechuic acids in soluble esterified fraction, sianpic and gentisic acids were the major phenolic acids in insoluble bounded fraction. Marked differences were observed in the phenolic acid composition and contents among the fractions. Free phenolic acid fraction showed the strongest antioxidant activity. Results revealed chestnut endoderm could be a potential antioxidant source containing gallic and ellagic acids.

  • This study is to identify the relationship between unsaturated fatty acids, which are indicators of beef flavor, and unsaturated fatty acid biosynthetic enzymes, which are associated with SNPs in the SCD, SREBPs, $PPAR{\gamma}$, FABP4, FASN and LPL in Hanwoo population. For analysis of fatty acid in Hanwoo, we used to Hanwoo steer(n=513). Also, following an analysis of the relationship raised from Gyeongbuk province region. FABP4; g.3977-325 T>C was selected and the distribution of beef grade of g.3977-325 T>C related in field trial was proved very excellent.

  • 국내 섬유산업은 해외로부터의 저가 섬유제품이 대량으로 유입되는 속에서도 수출의 상당한 부분을 차지하며, 꾸준히 양에서 질로의 전환을 도모해 왔으며, 특히 최근에는 섬유 전반에 걸쳐 고부가 가치화를 지향하고 있다. 이러한 소비자의 요구에 부응하여 섬유소재에도 다양한 신개념과 이를 충족시킬 수 있는 기술이 요구되고 있으며, 그 가운데 하나의 영역을 구축해 나가고 있는 분야가 면 리플가공과 같은 표면 형태 가공이며, 최근 들어 폴리에스테르 입체(3D)가공제의 개발 및 가공 방법도 이런 흐름에 부응하여 업계에서 절실한 개발을 요구하고 있는 분야이다. 기존의 폴리에스테르 및 합성섬유의 입체 가공에 적용된 화학제품보다 성능은 우수하면서, 가공 공정이나 완성된 섬유제품에 전혀 잔존하지 않아 인체친화적(기존의 제품들은 인체에 유해한 재료이면서 가공 후 잔존함)이며, 환경적인 측면에서도 친환경을 유지하면서 새로운 폴리에스테르섬유, 좀 더 폭넓게는 열가소성인 모든 합성섬유의 입체가공이 가능한 약품의 개발 및 이를 이용한 가공방법의 개발은 매우 중요한 의의를 가지게 된다. 본 연구에서는 폴리에스테르의 3D입체 디보싱을 부여하는 합성바인더가 물에 의한 용해도를 확인하기 위하여 용액의 PH에 따른 용해성 시험을 진행하였으며, 합성한 발포제의 양에 따른 3D입체형성 정도를 이미지로 형상화 하였다.

Effect of Interesterification for Increasing Creaming Power in Lard (라아드의 크림성 향상에 대한 에스테르교환의 효과)

  • This study was performed in order to clarify whether the creaming power of lard could be improved by random interesterification. The physicochemical properties, solid fat content, consistency, and creaming power of fat, and sensory evaluation on cream were investigated. The temperature of SFC $5{\sim}30$ showed the wider range from $10^{\circ}C\;to\;33^{\circ}C$ in random interesterified lard than that from $16^{\circ}C\;to\;30^{\circ}C$ in lard. The consistency of random interesterified lard was gradually decreased as temperature was increased, and was about $2000g\;per\;cm^{2}$ at low temperature level below $10^{\circ}C$. The sensory evaluation at maximum over ruu indicated that texture, polish and solubility of the cream made with random interesterified lard was slightly lower than that with lard, but random interesterified lard greatly improved the viscosity and firmness of cream. As the result of this study, the creaming power of lard was increased by random interesterification. Especially, the random interesterified lard could be considered as the better fat materials used in winter cream.
