Development of Elementary School Curriculum Relating to Robot Programming for Excellence Education and its Application (수월성 교육을 위한 초등학교 로봇프로그래밍 교육과정 개발과 적용)

  • This study is aimed at developing a curriculum in relation to programming learning by using robot, for it has been judged as a scientific learning tool to help elementary school children as well as gifted children among them improve their creativity. Based on this concept, teaching aids and materials were developed, and then applied to the locale of education, and results therefrom were analyzed ccordingly. Curriculum and contents of teaching aids were classified into two processes, i.e. the assembling process of robot to fit the varied problematic situations and the programming process (all six phases), and edited so much as to entice elementary school children to get interests and attentions to robot and programming by compiling the contents to suit their level of learning. Results from the evaluation of the application of robot education curriculum to the locale for learning revealed that it was a positive teaching tool that helped children improve their creativity. Also conclusions were derived from the analysis and evaluation that several aspects should be complemented as for teaching and learning tool to achieve the objective of excellence education.

  • 프로그래밍 학습은 프로그램의 작성, 오류 수정, 실행을 통해 학습자의 문제 해결력과 논리적 사고력을 향상시킨다. 따라서 프로그래밍 언어는 쉽고 익히기 쉬어야 한다. 또한, 초등학생은 Piaget의 인지적 발달 단계로 볼 때 구체적 조작기(concrete operational period: 6, 7$\sim$11, 12세)에 해당하는 시기이다. 이 시기는 구체적인 사물을 가지고 조작함으로써 논리적 사고가 가능하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 프로그래밍이라는 매우 추상적인 작업을 로봇이라는 구체물을 통해 결과를 확인할 수 있게 하였으며, 프로그래밍 학습의 초기 단계에 있는 초등학생이 쉽게 사용할 수 있도록 한글을 기반으로 프로그래밍 학습을 할 수 있도록 하고, DB를 활용하여 명령어를 사용자가 추가, 삭제, 수정할 수 있는 한글 기반의 로봇 프로그래밍 도구를 설계 및 개발하였다.

Development and Application of Robot Task using Tangible Programming Tool for Elementary Students (텐지블 프로그래밍 도구를 활용한 논리적 사고력기반의 초등 로봇 과제 개발 및 적용)

  • Recently, programming education is being actively performed in education field with development of educational programming language and teaching and learning methods for elementary students. However, programming education have limit to apply to the overall computer science curriculum, because it is performed by more than 5th grade and focused on the utilization of programming tools than problem-solving process. It is necessary to expand the range of students and educational content considered with problem-solving process for encouraging programming education in computer science. In this study, we suggest the easy-to-use programming tool for lower grade(1st grade) and robot programming task based on improvement of student's thinking ability. We use Tangible User Interface(TUI) for elementary student's(1st grade) convenience of programming and developed the robot programming task for improvement of logical thinking. As a result of this experiment, tangible programming tool can be used easily in elementary students(1st grade) and developed robot programming task is effective in improvement of logical thinking.

  • 본 논문에서는 ARCS 전략을 활용한 STEM 기반 로봇 프로그래밍 학습 프로그램의 개발을 하고자 한다. 프로그래밍 교육은 문제해결력을 향상시키고 추상적 사고를 강화할 수 있는 등 효과가 높은 학습도구이나 접근하기 힘든 어려움이 있다. 이를 초등학생이 접근하기 쉬운 수준의 로봇프로그래밍으로 접근하여 해결하였다. 또한 로봇프로그래밍의 학습을 위한 여러 가지 접근 방법 중 로봇프로그래밍에 가장 적합한 STEM 통합교육 기반으로 학습 프로그램을 설계하였으며 효과를 극대화하기 위하여 ARCS 전략을 적용한 프로그램으로 개발하여 제시하였다. 향후 효과성 검증에 대한 연구가 지속될 예정이다.

  • In recent years, there has been a rapid and wide spread of robot system in our lives and with the ever increasing the requirement of user for robot functionality, the software component is increasingly sophisticated and complicated. Accordingly it is inevitable to employ a standardized software platform. The OPRoS is open standard software platform based on component for robot system. When the software components were developed, it has got to validate the conformity of robot software components which comply with the OPRoS standard specification. In this paper, we deal with the design and implementation of the structural conformance test suite to verify and validate the conformance of components to be developed by user. As the results of some experiments, we could verify it from this test suite whether the components satisfied standard requirement or not.

  • With a focus on LabView language to program Lego Mindstoms Robot in afterschool class to help children develop their special ability and aptitude. The purpose of this research was to make proposal for programming learning method using a robot as an algorithm learning tool to improve creative problem solving ability. To do this, robot programming training program in the amount of 30th period and teaching aids thereof were developed, and 6th grade primary school children were taught up to 30th period, then after, they were evaluated accordingly. Results from analysis of evaluation of achievement level with a focus on outcomes according to each period revealed that learners understood most of contents of curriculum. In view of such results from evaluation, it is judged that the curriculum as well as teaching aids that devised and created have been constituted in order that school children will be able to have developed a shared understanding of their learning sufficiently, and to put it into practice easily. Through these hands-on experiences in the course of researches, researcher could have confirmed the possibility of success for robot-programming training class as new creative algorithm learning tool in the primary school curriculum.

  • 전자 상거래 시대가 도래했다. IDC 리서치의 조사 결과에 의하면, 웹에서 이루어진 거래의 총액은 1996년에 26억 달러였던 것이 2001년이 되면 2000억 달러로 증가할 것이다. 그동안 기업의 웹 사이트를 그저 구경만 하는 정도에 지나지 않았던 사용자들도 웹에서 많은 돈을 쓰기 시작했다. 이러한 붐이 조성된 요인은 매력적인 웹 검색 도구들이 개발된 점과 '쇼핑로봇'이라고 하는 영리한 쇼핑 에이전트 덕분이다.

  • IT와 지능 기술을 로봇에 융합시킴으로써(1), 내가 컴퓨터에게 가서 필요한 정보를 받는 수동적 환경보다는 로봇이 내게로 와서 내가 원하는 일을 하고, 원하는 정보를 제공하는 인간 중심적 환경을 만드는 것이 지능형 서비스 로봇에 대한 궁극적인 목표이다. 이러한 지능형 로봇의 개발을 전 국가적으로 추진한 결과 지능형 로봇에 대한 꿈이 현실로 나타나고 있음을 느낄 수가 있다. 표준화는 이러한 꿈을 더욱 가까운 시간 내에 이루도록 효율적으로 투자하고, 개발기간을 단축시키면서, 동시에 기술을 고도화시키고, 원가를 낮춤으로써 기술과 시장 경쟁력을 갖추게 하는 도구이다. 지능형 로봇의 표준화는 타 산업과 비교하여 시작단계에 불과하지만, 산업에 대한 효율적인 투자와 국제시장의 선점을 기대할 수 있으므로 후발 주자인 우리나라는 총체적으로 표준화를 추진하고 있다. 본 고에서는 이와 관련된 국제 표준화 동향을 살펴본다.

  • Robot education is the learning instrument suitable for the logical thinking and problem solving ability of students, but in the elementary school, research data for curriculum, teaching material developing, and special teacher for the purpose of efficient robot education is rare. So this study investigated and researched on the educational use of robot as the instrument for enhancement of the logical ability and the problem solving ability of elementary school students. In order to introduce contents related to robot in the elementary, I investigated and analyzed what is discussed. I analyzed their opinions for the efficient robot education of the elementary school student through the questionary survey of the elementary school teacher in charge of robot education in the discretion activity class. and I suggested the condition of robot, proper contents, the form of robot, and teaching & learning method suitable for introduction in the elementary school curriculum based on analyzed contents.

  • Recently, research using robots as a learning tool has increasingly been conducted in K-12 education area. It has been known that hands-on robots give positive educational effect not only on science and mathematics, but on STEAM activity, and help improve the abilities necessary in the 21 century, such as critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, and team work. Despite many research achievements, there is still few research on robot based curriculum to improve the instrumental application of robots in the primary and secondary education fields. In other words, there is a lack of studies of systematic educational contents, educational methods and educational evaluation to increase the instrumental application according to schools and class years. Therefore, this study analyzed domestic and foreign robot based curriculums and relevant cases to develop 'robot' related educational programs in primary school and middle school, suggested the achievement objectives in the robot area as a sub category of the computer science curriculum which will be revised, and proposed teaching-learning method and evaluation method.
