  • The purpose of This study was to compare the effect of Convergence-Based russian current(RC) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation(TENS) on pain, muscle strength, function of knee who had a surgical anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR). A total of 40 Participants divided into 2 groups, with ACLR, were assigned to russian current group(RCG) or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation group(TENSG). Both groups were measured by varieties of tests: visual analog scale(VAS), knee flexion & extension muscle strength, knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score(KOOS), korean lower extremity functional scale(LEFS). Both groups has shown significant changes within the measurements of VAS, Knee Flexion & Extension muscle strength, KOOS and LEFS. The RCG had more significant increase within knee extension muscle strength, LEFS compared to TENSG. By studying this research, both interventions were effective to ACLR patients, moreover, RC was more effective for knee muscle strength and lower extremity function than the TENS.

  • The present study was aimed to comprehend the effect of the Russian current stimulation on the muscular performance and activity of quadriceps femoris muscle of the convalescent patient after the leg fracture. This study conducted test based on 20 patients after leg fracture. Russian current was applied for six weeks as three times in a week, between January 9, 2013 and 15 March 16, 2013. The electromyogram was used to measure the muscle activity of the quadriceps femoris, and the isokinetic equipment was used to measure the muscular performance. The muscular performance difference by duration depending on the application of the Russian current showed the significant increase in all muscular performances. The activity of all muscles of the quadriceps femoris muscle by duration showed significant increase. These results showed that the Russian current can be the effective treatment method for enhancing the muscular strength of the weakened lower limbs muscle due to the problem such as the leg fracture.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of muscle strength by stimulation of russian current and low frequency. Methods : The subjects were thirty young healthy volunteers who were divided into two groups including russian current group(n=15) and low frequency group(n=15). The intervention was applied totally 12 times (1 time, 10 minute) for 4weeks in each group. The peak torque and average power were measured and analysed using Biodex system 4 before the treatment, after 2 weeks, 4 weeks. Results : As a result, russians currents and low frequency stimulation increased significantly average power and peak torque with the lapse of time. However, there were not significant differences of the average power and peak torque between the groups in all periods. Conclusion : In conclusion, russians currents and low frequency stimulation had no differences in the increase of muscle strength.
