딸꾹질은 대개의 경우에는 특별한 처치 없이도 고식적인 방법으로 멈추지만, 한 달 이상 지속되는 지속성 딸꾹질은 생명을 위협할 정도의 심각한 부작용을 초래한다. 특히 정확한 치료방법 또한 확립되어 있지 않고, 몇몇 보고에서 양측 횡격막 신경차단이 보고되어 있을 뿐이다. 56세 남환의 우측 횡격막을 침범한 말기폐암환자에서 발생한 난치성 지속성 딸꾹질에 대해 박동성 고주파술을 시행하여 좋은 치료 결과를 얻은 바, 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하고자 한다.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to summarize current clinical study trends and results regarding acupuncture treatments for hiccups. Methods: Studies published from 2012 to 2022 were searched on PubMed and domestic databases (OASIS, scienceON, RISS, KISS, KCI) using the keywords "hiccup^*", "singultus", "singultation", "hiccupping", "intractable hiccup^*", "acupuncture", "auricular acupuncture", "scalp acupuncture", "acupuncture point", "acupoint", "needle", "dry needle", "딸꾹질", and "침." The studies were analyzed according to the year, language, study design, characteristics of patients, and acupuncture intervention. Results: In total, 12 studies were selected: 8 case series, 2 case-control studies, and 2 case reports. Manual acupuncture was administered with more than 15 minutes of retention time, most frequently using ST36 and CV12. The acupuncture treatment was effective for hiccup symptoms in all studies, as assessed by clinical symptoms, such as duration time, number of episodes, and recurrence. Conclusions: Acupuncture treatment can be an effective and safe method for treating hiccups and can be used in clinical practice.

1. Objectives: This study aims to report symptomatic improvement of a Soyangin persistent hiccup patient with Hyeongbangdojeoksan. 2. Methods: The patient was treated with Hyeongbangdojeok-san and acupunctural therapy. The patient's chief complaint and ordinaty symptoms were observed during the outpatient care period. 3. Results and Conclusions: In results, Soyangin patients's hiccup and ordinary symptom as well as improved. The management of the constitutional pathological syndromes by constitutional perspective than focusing on the symptoms of hiccups will provide more comfortable life and better health levels.

Hiccups is one of the omnipresent phenomenon occurring in everyone. Most episodes are time-limited, but, sometimes, they become intractable and protracted for a long time. In most cases, they are idiopathic. But, sometimes there are cases which have diverse kinds of underlying disorders. In this study, the author reports a case of idiopathic and persistent hiccups. He recently encountered a 64 year old male patient with intractable and persistent hiccups for over two weeks. By using the method of 8 Constitutional Acupuncture therapy and herbal medication( Hyangsapyeungwutang) regarding him as RENOTONIA. After 7days of treatment, the symptoms disappeared.

The etiology of intractable hiccups is most commonly idiopathic. However, they are occasionally associated with some underlying disorders including gastro-esophageal reflux disease. There are a few previous reports describing the association of intractable hiccups with high dose corticosteroid. We experienced an unusual case of intractable hiccups following a high dose intravenous methylprednisolone therapy in a patient with right third nerve palsy. Since methylprednisolone is commonly used in various neurological problems, physicians should be aware of its possible side effect including intractable hiccups.

Chronic hiccup is a rare occurrence but can be debilitating for the patient. Treatment of choice is seldom reported. A 83-year-old male was admitted our hospital due to chronic hiccup for 3 months. Chest PA X-ray and chest CT showed a lung mass finding in the right lower lobe. After percutaneous transthoracic needle aspiration, squamous cell lung cancer with abscess formation was confirmed. Within three days of initiation of baclofen treatment. stop of hiccup was obtained. We report a baclofen effect for chronic hiccup.

Hiccup is one of common symptoms clinically and caused by various etiologies. We have tried researching the effect of herbal medicines(Taeumjowi-tang) to treat a Taeumin patient with severe hiccup, who is presumed cerebral vascular disease, and evaluated hiccup's a time in a minute and hiccup's total time in a day. The symptoms, not only the patient's hiccup, also his general condition including the dysphagia and right side hemiparesisis, are improved considerably. The constitutional treatment with Taeumin herbal medicines(Taeumjowi-tang) may have an effect on the management of hiccup by control of Qi and Fluid Metabolism.

Persistent hiccup is defined as duration lasting longer than 48 hours. Reflex arc of hiccup is divided into three parts : afferent, central, efferent. Afferent portion of the neural pathway of hiccup formation is composed of vagus nerve, phrenic nerve, and sympathetic chain arising from T6 to T12. Efferent limb is phrenic nerve. Hiccup center is located in brain stem, midbrain, reticular system and hypothalamus. Persistent hiccup is very difficult to treat by conventional methods. We performed cervical epidural block of the phrenic nerve root for three patients suffering from persistent hiccup. The therapeutic effect was perfect. The mechanism of the cervical epidural block is not yet defined however it is thought to block the efferent nerve fibers and suppress the reflex arc of hiccup. We conclude cervical epidural block is relatively safe and very effective for treating persistent hiccup.
