  • The mature larvae of Podontia affinis (Grondal), P dalmani Baly, and P. lutea (O1ivier) collected Vietnam are described and illustrated for the first time exception of P. dalmani. Their taxonomic remarks are also given.

  • Twenty two species including two unidentified species of Scolytidae (Coleoptera) attracted to the attractant trap were listed in this paper. Of listed beetles, two species, TryPodendron singnatum and Xyleborus defenslls were recorded to the fauna for the first time and described in Korean.

  • Genera Neobisnius and Erichsonius from Korea are investigated. Three species of Neobisinus and one species of Erichsonius are identified. Of them, N. angustus is new species and N. Inornatus is recorded first in Korea. Erichsonius is a genus newly recorded from korea.

  • 지구상에서 가장 오래된 사막인 아프리카 나미브 사막과 칠레 아타카마 사막에서는 이슬을 수집하여 생존하는 딱정벌레와 안개를 수집하는 식물이 서식하고 있다. 폭발적인 인구증가와 과다한 수자원 사용으로 인해 사막화가 가속화되고 있는 현대에 이러한 자연의 지혜를 이용한다면 지속가능한 새로운 수자원을 확보할 수 있을 것이다. 이 글에서는 최근 자연모사기술을 기반으로 공기 중 수분 수집을 시도하는 연구들과 상용화에 힘쓰는 비영리 및 영리 단체들을 소개하고자 한다.

  • A new species, Osorius mujechinensis, is described based on SEM microphotographys of the extenal structures and illustrations of the aedeagus. This new species was collected at Mujechi Moor, Mt. Chongjoksan, Ulsan, Korea. The subfamily Osoriinae in Korea now comprises two recorded species of the genus Osorius.

  • Diversity and altitudinal distribution of the ground-beetles including Silphidae were investigated on Mt. Gabjangsan, Sangju city, Korea. Of the collected 10 species belonging to 3 families, Synuchus cycloderus was the most abundant species and S. nitidus was the relatively more abundant than the other species. The highest number collected was at alto 700 m. Simpson dominance index was 0.66 the highest at 700 malt., whereas, 0.47 at alto 800 m, was the lowest. The highest Simpson diversity index was noticed at alto 800 m (0.53). Also, seasonal indices of diversity and dominance of Simpson and Menhinick index were provided.

On Some Species of Curculionidae (Coleoptera) from North Korea (북한산 바구미과 (딱정벌레목)의 일부종에 대하여)

  • Present paper deals with 773 specimens of family Curculionidae from North Korea that preserved in Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences (ZIN) and Hungarian Museum of Natural Science (HMNH). We identified 91 species, of which 21 species are new to the fauna of Korean peninsula. Newly recorded species from Korea are as follows: Grypus mannerheimi Faust, Anoplus plantaris (Naezen), Anthonomus (Anthonomidius) dilutus Reitter, Cleopomiarus jakowlewi Faust, Sibinia annulifera Pic, Sibinia ussurica Korotyaev et Egorov, Baris scolopacea Germar, Scleropterus rubi Korotyaev, Cryptorhynchus fasciculatus (Roelofs), Shirahoshiro favonotatus (Voss), Shirahoshiro \ulcornerhiurai Morimoto, Cyriophthalmus variegatus (Motschulsky), Myllocerus (Myzzocerus) alternanus Voss, Sitona amurensis Faust, Sitona tessellatus Korotyaev, Metadonus distinguendus Boheman, Lixus (Ortholixus) amurensis Faust, Lixus (Compsozixus) ochraceus Boheman, Coniocleonus cineritus (Gyllenhal), Coniocleonus schoenherri (Gebler), and Magdaiis (Neopanus) cerasi (Linnaeus). Descriptions and photographs of newly recorded species from Korea and distribution data of 91 species are provided.
