  • In order to maximize dynamic range and to minimize image lag in digital X-ray imaging, diminishing residual parasitic capacitance in photodiode in pixels is critically necessary. These requirements are more specifically requested in dynamic X-ray imaging with high frame rate and low image lag for industrial 2D/3D automated X-ray inspection and medical CT imaging. This study proposes duoPIXTM X-ray imaging sensor for the first time that is composed of reset thin film transistor, readout thin film transistor and photodiode in a pixel. To verify duoPIXTM X-ray imaging sensor, designing duoPIXTM pixel and imaging sensor was executed first then X-ray imaging sensor with 105 ㎛ pixel pitch, 347 mm × 430 mm imaging area and 3300 × 4096 pixels (13.5M pixels) was fabricated and evaluated by using module tester and image viewer specifically for duoPIXTM imaging sensor.

  • With the development of IoT technology, various technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation are being grafted into industrial sites, and accordingly, the importance of data processing is increasing. Image denoising is one of the basic processes of image processing, and is used as a preprocessing step in many applications. Various studies have been conducted to remove noise, but various problems arise in the process of noise removal, such as image detail preservation, texture restoration, and special noise removal. In this paper, we propose a digital filter using an extended convolutional mask to preserve image detail during the impulse denoising process. The proposed algorithm uses an extended convolution mask as a filtering mask, and obtains the final output by switching the extension level according to the noise level. Simulation was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, and the performance was analyzed compared to the existing method.

  • The data management and the evaluation of defects in the bridge are generally conducted based on inspection and diagnosis data, including the exterior damage map and defect quantity table prepared by periodic inspection. Since most of these data are written in 2D-based documents and are difficult to digitize in a standardized manner, it is challenging to utilize them beyond the defined functionality. This study proposed methods to efficiently build a BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based bridge damage model from raw data of inspection report and to manage and utilize the damage information linking to bridge model through the spread sheet data generated by COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange). In addition, a method to conduct the condition assessment of defects in bridge was proposed based on an automatic evaluation process using digitized bridge member and damage information. The proposed methods were tested using superstructure of PSC-I girder concrete bridge, and the efficiency and effectiveness of the methods were verified.

  • In this paper, we propose a new handwriting verification method using pattern analysis in off-line environments. The proposed method first segments character regions in a document and extracts effective features from the segmented regions. It then estimates the similarity between the extracted non-linear features and reference ones by using dynamic time warping and principal component analysis. Our handwriting verification method extracts handwriting features effectively and enables the verification of handwriting with various lengths of features as well as ones of short patterns. The experimental results show that our method outperforms others in terms as accuracy. We expect that the proposed method will automate the manual handwriting verification tasks and provide much objectivity on handwriting identification.

  • This study focuses on the development of a Last-Mile delivery service using unmanned vehicles to deliver goods directly to the end consumer utilizing drones to perform autonomous delivery missions and an image-based precision landing algorithm for handoff to a robot in an intermediate facility. As the logistics market continues to grow rapidly, parcel volumes increase exponentially each year. However, due to low delivery fees, the workload of delivery personnel is increasing, resulting in a decrease in the quality of delivery services. To address this issue, the research team conducted a study on a Last-Mile delivery service using unmanned vehicles and conducted research on the necessary technologies for drone-based goods transportation in this paper. The flight scenario begins with the drone carrying the goods from a pickup location to the rooftop of a building where the final delivery destination is located. There is a handoff facility on the rooftop of the building, and a marker on the roof must be accurately landed upon. The mission is complete once the goods are delivered and the drone returns to its original location. The research team developed a mission planning algorithm to perform the above scenario automatically and constructed an algorithm to recognize the marker through a camera sensor and achieve a precision landing. The performance of the developed system has been verified through multiple trial operations within ETRI.

  • This paper presents strategies for enhancing productivity and strengthening global competitiveness as the domestic shipbuilding industry transitions into the era of Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX), moving beyond digital transformation. Historically a labor-intensive industry, shipbuilding has evolved into smart shipyards powered by automation and digitalization, with increasing emphasis on green regulations and the importance of green fuels. The urgent adoption of alternative fuels, such as ammonia and liquid hydrogen, is critical in this context. However, the industry faces new challenges amid intensifying global competition and rapid technological changes. This study analyzes both domestic and international cases of AI transformation and the adoption of eco-friendly fuels in shipbuilding companies, proposing ways to manage risks through the establishment of AI governance to ensure sustainable growth. In particular, by utilizing the backcasting method, the study sets short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals while deriving phased strategies to provide significant insights and implications for policy formulation and corporate strategies aimed at the AI transformation of the domestic shipbuilding industry while complying with environmental regulations.

  • This study aims to establish a standard to accurately determine the similarity of the results when web pages are generated automatically using AI technology due to the explosive increase in demand for digital business. The YOLO, SSIM, Jaccard, and ORB techniques presented in previous studies related to the existing image similarity evaluation index generally focused on the partial and morphological similarity between the reference and the derived image. However, with the development of more complex and in-depth digital services based on generative AI, the need for comprehensive similarity analysis and determination methods that reflect the context and structure has emerged. Accordingly, this study proposed and verified a method to obtain 'Web Structural Similarity (WSS)' by combining the advantages of SSIM and ORB prior techniques. The research will serve various meaningful implications.

  • This study proposes the algorithm to automate image alignment and detect marginal bone destructions, based on subtraction radiography for dental radiographic images necessary for dental PACS, which hasn't been covered by related literatures. The proposed algorithm enables a quick and precise detection of marginal bone destructions around teeth including implant through the knowlege-based multi-template matching in reference to ROI(Region Of Interest) obtained from applicable teeth using information about their geometric forms to solve problems single-template matching is exposed to. Actually, the test showed that it was possible not only to quickly and precisely detect marginal bone destructions around teeth, but also to get more objective and quantitative results through the algorithm.

  • One of the business in the future will be executed by Business to Business(B to B) model of E-Commerce. The concept of the B to B model composes the work process, people, and supporting environment. The work processes are related to the information process, technologies, and standards. Information process elements contains digital data exchange, data sharing, and collaboration. This paper designed and implemented the XML-based Business Flow Management System(BFMS) for B to B model of E-commerce in the Internet. BFMS in this paper automatically performs the information process for B to B model such as electronic bidding system including purchase order management, bidding management, delivery management to build E-Commerce in the Internet. XML can be used as document standard between business for skating and exchange of data and also provide platform independent environment.
