Bayesian network based Music Recommendation System considering Multi-Criteria Decision Making (다기준 의사결정 방법을 고려한 베이지안 네트워크 기반 음악 추천 시스템)

  • The demand and production for mobile music increases as the number of smart phone users increase. Thus, the standard of selection of a user's preferred music has gotten more diverse and complicated as the range of popular music has gotten wider. Research to find intelligent techniques to ingeniously recommend music on user preferences under mobile environment is actively being conducted. However, existing music recommendation systems do not consider and reflect users' preferences due to recommendations simply employing users' listening log. This paper suggests a personalized music-recommending system that well reflects users' preferences. Using AHP, it is possible to identify the musical preferences of every user. The user feedback based on the Bayesian network was applied to reflect continuous user's preference. The experiment was carried out among 12 participants (four groups with three persons for each group), resulting in a 87.5% satisfaction level.

A Survey on the Use of Music by the Baby Boomer Generation (베이비부머 세대의 음악활용에 대한 조사연구)

  • The purpose of this survey was to examine the trend, purpose, and overall needs on the use of music by the baby boomer generation. On 87 participants aged from 57 to 66 living in five cities of Korea, online and offline surveys were conducted. As a result, first, the baby boomer generation mostly listened to popular music on their mobile phones when taking a rest alone, and it has been confirmed that the purpose of music use was for happiness, hobby, confidence, and fulfillment in order. Second, there was shown that the baby boomer generation hope to do singing and lyric-discussion in a club setting. Third, for the purpose of music use according to genders, there was found that female participants more significantly focused on volunteering than male. It is meaningful that this study could provide basic data to develop music programs considering characteristics of the baby boomer generation.

  • 본 논문은 디지털 음악 도서관에서 입력된 음성을 인식하여 생성한 음곡선에 의해 임의의 음악정보를 효율적으로 검색하기 위한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 종래의 전형적인 음악정보 검색 항목인 제목이나 작곡자 또는 주제를 입력하는 것이 아니라, 사용자가 음악 데이터베이스로부터 검색하고자 하는 음악의 일부를 마이크를 통해서 노래한다. 그러면 입력된 음성에 대한 음 신호를 처리하여 음표정보를 인식하고, 이를 바탕으로 음정 곡선을 생성하여 이를 탐색 패턴으로 사용한다. 제안한 검색 알고리즘은 일반적으로 근사 탐색을 위해 많이 사용하는 동적 프로그래밍 방법과 함께 실험을 통해 탐색 시간을 비교하여 향상된 탐색 시간을 보인다.

  • This paper is a study aimed at facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the music metaverse platform that will emerge in the era of Web 3.0 and exploring productive strategies for its construction. We examine the significance of the metaverse music platform from various perspectives and investigate the developmental process of digital music platforms from Web 1.0 to 3.0. Subsequently, assuming the emergence of metaverse platforms as a transition to Web 3.0, we align this transition with technological(VR technology, wearable devices, generative AI), cultural(digital avatars, fandom), and economic(NFT) discussions related to Web 3.0. These discussions are integrated with the developmental strategies of the metaverse music platform. Through this study, we hope to enhance the understanding of the metaverse music platform and provide insights into potential construction strategies.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the changes of the digital music platforms and digital profit distribution issues which are considered to be the most important part of the application to the Global music industry based on the block chain system. This attempt is not to reveal the success of the block chain and the value judgment in the societies that will come in the future. How to apply the original function of the block chain in the field of the music industry, which has changed a lot in the digital era, this paper focused on what we need to work on. First, I will briefly review the structure and major functions of the block chain system and the crypto-currency, and examine the link between the blockchain and the music industry. In addition, I will focus on some overseas' cases that are actually applied, and examine the possibility of applying them in the domestic music industry. Through this, I expect that this article will become a cornerstone for discussing the development direction of the music industry, especially the Korean music industry, which is constantly changing due to the technological advancement process.

A Study on Substitutability and Complementarity of Music Downloading and Streaming and the Moderating Role of LTE Penetration on Its Relationship (디지털 음악의 다운로드와 스트리밍 서비스 간에 보완성과 대체성 및 LTE 보급률의 조절효과에 관한 연구)

  • Rapid technological innovation led by digitization has significantly changed the business of digital content goods, and has led to the emergence of new forms of services, such as music streaming. However, whether the streaming service is a threat to the traditional downloading service is still under debate. In this study, we examine whether music downloading is a substitute for or a complement to music streaming by investigating the moderating effects of LTE technology penetration. Using a unique dataset on the online music market from a dominant music platform in Korea, we found that music downloading services are complementary to music streaming services, but this complementary relationship is significantly and positively moderated by the introduction of LTE technology.

  • Recently, retro music is popular in the domestic music industry. Even in the movie industry, remake or retro movies are made continuously. In this paper, we consider the reason of remake in the viewpoint of mathematics and show that there is a maximum number of lyrics, pictures, music, and movies that human can make due to the characteristics of digital contents. The time that human cannot make new lyrics, new pictures, new music, and new movies any more will be estimated. Therefore, artists will have difficulties to make new contents in the future, and human have to listen and see the previous lyrics, movies, music, or pictures in the future. This study will give a deep philosophical insight for contents industry.

  • 최근 오디오 압축 기술의 발전에 힘입은 디지털 음원과 웹 스트리밍의 보급으로, 사용자가 음악 정보에 손쉽게 접할 수 있게 되었다. 이에 따라 음악을 보다 쉽고 효율적인 방법으로 검색하는 방법뿐 아니라 사용자의 환경에 따라 적절한 음악을 검색할 수 있는 기능의 필요성이 증가하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 음악의 특징에 따라 분류된 데이터베이스를 사용하고, 사용자의 감정을 분석하여 적절한 음악을 검색하는 시스템을 제안한다. 본 시스템은 사용자의 감정 입력을 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 방법으로 Thayer의 2D emotional space를 적용하여 Valence-Arousal model의 두 가지의 입력을 처리한다. 가장 적합한 음악의 정보를 얻기 위해 사용된 Fuzzy Inference System의 IF-THEN 규칙을 정의하기 위하여 언어적으로 정의된 기존의 음악 감정 연구 결과를 적용하였고, 도출된 결과와 가장 유사도가 깊은 음악을 우선적으로 검색하도록 설계하였다. 이와 같이 구현된 시스템의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 사용자 설문조사를 수행하였다.

An exploratory study for conceptualizing a communication model in choral music (코랄 커뮤니케이션 모델의 개념형성을 위한 시론적 연구)

  • This study is conducted for the purpose of conceptualizing a choral communication model. first, the musical communication models analyzed to know how it can apply in the choral music. As a result, we take the music communication is the interaction between composers, performers and audience. But the choral music have properties not found in the general music. The choral music is the need for internal communication process before performing music. First, the conductor is to interpret the music. Next, choral members are shared the interpretation of music. This internal communication be conducted properly, musical communication with the audience will be successful. The trial model provided for in this study will be a guideline for successful communication in the choral music, theoretically or practically.

A study on the convergence of K-pop and world music (케이팝과 월드뮤직의 융합에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to increase the development possibility of K-pop music by analyzing K-pop music and analyzing the use of world music in it. As a research method, we will first look at the world music elements Puerto Rico's reggaeton, Jamaica's toasting, and the melody of Indian music. After that, we analyze two songs, Hyo-yeon's and Hyun-A & Dawn's , with rhythm and melody elements to find out the utilization of World Music. As a result of the study, it was found that it rhythmically showed the type of Dembow rhythm derived from Puerto Rico's reggaeton, and melody followed the form of Jamaican toasting and the melody of Arabic music. This study is meaningful in presenting the possibility of development and various directions of K-pop in the future by analyzing the use of world music used in K-pop music. Through the convergence of various world music and K-pop, I hope that K-pop music will become a culture that is supported by a wider public.
