  • This study compared the accuracy and reliability of definitive casts fabricated from a digital impression and conventional impression technique. A master model with the prepared upper full-arch tooth was used. Samples of ten plaster models and ten polyurethane models were duplicated using a selected standard master model. Six linear measurements were recorded between the landmarks, directly on each of the stone models and the polyurethane models on two occasions by a double examiner. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test, interclass correlation coefficient (ICC), measurement error (MSE), and limit of agreement (LoA) were used for statistical analysis. The ICC ranged from 0.76 to 0.99 when comparing the stone models and polyurethane models. The mean difference between the stone models and polyurethane models ranged from 0.09mm to 0.20mm, suggesting that stone models might be slightly larger than polyurethane models. Based on this study, the accuracy of the polyurethane models in evaluating the performance of an oral scanner and subtractive technology was acceptable. Further studies will be needed on patient subjects under clinical conditions that may involve missing or malpositioned teeth and fixed dental prostheses because this study was limited to use a standard master model and duplicated sample models in a laboratory setting.

  • This study was conducted to identify factors that influenced teachers' adoption of digital textbooks and causal relationships among the factors identified. Chasm theory was used in developing strategies for adoption of digital textbooks that consider teachers' innovativeness. This study also employed the information technology adoption model of Davis (1989) that illustrates decision making processes for the adoption of instructional media such as digital textbooks. Based on these two theories, a measurement instrument measuring teachers' innovativeness, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention of use was developed and validated through a series of reliability and validity tests. Causal relationships among the factors were examined using structural equation modeling. The result indicated that: a) perceived ease of use had a directional effect on perceived usefulness and an indirect effect on intention of use; and b) perceived usefulness had a direct effect on intention of use. Implications of this finding are discussed especially for the efforts in developing strategies for teachers' adoption of digital textbook. For example, when digital textbooks are introduced into public schools, teachers' perception of the usefulness of digital textbooks, beyond just ease of use, should be considered.

  • The jumping ring apparatus described in this study is used to demonstrate and educate the effects of electromagnetic induction. Placing an aluminum ring over the core and switching on AC source causes the ring to jump in the air due to induced currents in the ring producing a magnetic field opposed to that produced in the core. This force is a function of flux density, ac current of ring and levitated height of the ring. Using photo sensor arrays, detect the ring position and represent the position of the ring to analog voltage for an education performance. This paper presents modelling of the jumping ring system and shows how does control signal generate in order to follow desired position.

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of a stereolithographic surgical guide that was made with information from intraoral digital impressions and cone beam CT (CBCT). Materials and methods: Six sets of resin maxilla and mandible models with missing teeth were used in this study. Intraoral digital impressions were made. The virtual models provided by these intraoral digital impressions and by the CBCT scan images of the resin models were used to create a surgical guide. Implant surgery was performed on the resin models using the surgical guide. After implant placement, the models were subjected to another CBCT scan to compare the planned and actual implant positions. Deviations in position, depth and axis between the planned and actual positions were measured for each implant. Results: The mean deviation of the insertion point and angulation were 0.28 mm and $0.26^{\circ}$, apex point were 0.11 mm and 0.14 mm respectively. The implants were situated at a mean of 0.44 mm coronal to the planned vertical position. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that stereolithographic surgical guides created without the use of impressions and stone models show promising accuracy in implant placement.
