In this study, we tried to provide basic materials necessary for introduction of smart libraries by analyzing present conditions of its operation based on the actual conditions of digital materials. For this study, a survey of actual use of digital materials is conducted for digital material rooms of public libraries in nationwide and 213 persons in charge of digital materials. As a result of this study, the followings are found: first, 80.8% of those public libraries responding to the survey operate digital material rooms and average 1.75 person is in charge of managing digital materials and open type Wi-Fis are installed in those public libraties but only 11.3% of those libraries provide 5G services; second, it is found that the digital data which are owned by those public libraries most are video contents (63.8%), e-books (53.5%) and audio books (53.5%) in order. In addition average number of types of audio books 781, video contents 4,985, nonbook contents except for video 3,616 and other digital data 626. This study is a basic research for introduction of smart library and it is necessary to conduct another study of a plan for future revitalization of digital materials and librarians' awareness on introduction of smart library.

The purpose of this study is to portray the current condition of digital reading rooms in public libraries in specific terms of information resource constituencies. With the growth in numbers of public libraries in Korea, emphasis was also put on digital information services using digital reading rooms in public libraries. However, it is also recognized that these digital reading rooms are merely traditional reading rooms with equipment. In this regard, the objective for the study was to identify and describe the types of electronic information resources in order to determine the rationale for the development of digital information resource management in public libraries. The focus was especially put on investigating the quality and the degree of perceived importance of electronic resources. Data for this case study was collected from four relatively big public libraries in three cities. The investigation was conducted by the document reviews and surveys and interviews with librarians and patrons. The study found that digital resource management should be put on a new stage, especially in terms of education and reliable information for the regional community. The study also added some suggestions for the future development and refinement of electronic resource management in public libraries.

지난해에는 문화관광부의 '도서관정보화추진계획'에 따른 전국 공공도서관과 학교도서관의 디지털자료실 설치, 공공도서관 자료구입비 증액 지원, 3개 도교육청의 사서교사 채용 시험 실시, 각 종 언론과 방송에서의 독서 프로그램 편성 확대 등 도서관 발전을 위한 각계 각층의 관심이 활발한 한 해였다. 하지만 여전히 진행되고 있는 도서관 명칭변경, 민간위탁의 문제와 날로 심화되어 가고 있는 사서직 고용불안정 현상 등은 우리 도서관계가 올 한 해도 피할 수 없는 숙제로 남아 있다. 바야흐로 21세기가 본 궤도에 오른 2002년 새해를 맞아, 그 어느 때보다도 도서관의 사회적 역할이 증대되고 있는 지금, 우리 도서관계 각 단체의 올 한해 각오와 사업방향 등을 알아보았다.

DLS(Digital Library System) have been established by Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development for providing the application services to each school library managers(teacher librarian) and front end users such as students and teachers. DLS's are separately operated by 15 major metropolitan or provincial office of education to cover all elementary, middle and high schools in Korea. There is a necessity which it will analyze the current status of DLS because it's system after starting a service 2 years passed. This study suggested to improvements strategies of DLS by survey from teacher librarian, subject teacher, students of 308 schools.

The libraries of local councils contribute to realize democracy and promote national interests and the welfare of the people, by supporting democratic legislation activities and congressional politics of the local councilors. This study analyzes the libraries of local councils at 17 regional local governments, and it confirms that there are various deviations in their library services such as material acquisitions and legislative information services by regional groups. On the basis of that analysis, the study summarizes the ways for improving the service qualities of the libraries of local councils as follows. First, it is necessary to organize the institute for national council materials. Second, the cooperative network systems should be constructed to share council publications. Third, the provisions related the copyright law and the national assembly library act have to be modified. Fourth, the libraries of local councils share their own materials focusing on digital publications. Fifth, the National Assembly Library expands their legislative information services to the libraries of local councils.

NTSC 전송신호 품질의 한계를 보완하기 위하여 디지털 장비를 방송 제작에 도입하던 추세가 최근 몇 년 동안 서버(Server)와 네트웍(Network)을 이용한 디지털 제작 환경이라는 새로운 시도로 변화되고 있다. 그리고 이러한 시도는 앞으로의 방송환경의 변화--다채널·다매체·고화질시대에 맞는 제작 환경의 필요성--와 지상파 디지털 방송이 본격화되면서 더욱 가속화될 전망이다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 제작 환경의 변화에 맞는 방송 시스템을 구성하기 위하여 첫 번째 네트웍 환경의 제작 시스템 구성을 위하여 방송용 테이프(Tape) 기반의 자료실을 대용량 서버로 대체할 때 도입해야 하는 디지털 저장매체에 저장된 신호 규격(Format)을 결정하기 위한 MPEG2 Generation Loss Test를 진행하였으며, 두 번째로 결정된 신호 규격을 현재의 제작 시스템에 적용시키기 위한 방안을 살펴보고 마지막으로 방송 자료의 저장, 송출, 편집 등 제작 전과정이 일관된 흐름으로 처리될 수 있는 서버와 네트웍을 기반으로 한 디지털 방송 시스템을 설계하였다.

The objective of this study is to investigate and compare the situation of the informationization of public libraries between 2012 and 2014. Data were collected two times in both 2012 and 2014 using Internet survey. Survey contents were general information situation, softwares, digital service room, RFID, digital contents, mobile service, integrated digital services. Results show that library informationization went for demonstration effect for local residents, staff for library informationization was insufficient, KOLAS was still needed to be upgraded, and most of public libraries were insufficient for future digital services. As improvement plans, there are the development of next generation integrated system, expansion of mobile web and app service, and increasing digital contents. For further study, it provides a study of the use of digital contents and equipment on public libraries.
