So far, the behaviors of Web users have been predicted or analyzed mostly by their demographic characteristics or by considering in which context they gain access to that. But now there is a question about whether those characteristics are the only factors to trigger their use of Web. If the answer is not affirmative, what types of additional factors could cause such an action and how they characterize it should be discussed. User profile information has been considered one of the crucial elements to define user characteristics in user-centered UI design sector, and in order to apply it to UI design, it's needed to meditate on the above-mentioned questions. In this study, it's first attempted to have a good understanding of the users of different media and to review existing user classification methods. Next, user classification variables and relevant scales were prepared to sort out users according to their type of using Web, and case study was conducted to identify the behavioral characteristics of users and classify them according to their behavioral features. Finally, the user profile features of individual user groups were figured out based on data that were gathered by making an experiment, and data mapping was fulfilled between the behavioral characteristics and user profile characteristics to find out what types of behaviors were caused by the characteristics of user profile. As a result, it's found that user characteristics could have an impact on not only their general information and relevant contexts but their attitude of using different media and personality type. There were some problems with the experimental design, but more accurate information on the relationship of user behaviors to user profile characteristics will be obtained if those problems are eliminated. As user behaviors could be predicted only by user profile characteristics, user classification is expected to make a contribution to enhancing the efficiency of UI design.
As the competition becomes more severe, the importance of brand confidence is coming to the front mainly because there has been a tendency of the customer for choosing a product or service in conjunction with the confidence. The concept of brand personality has formed as a result of various efforts for establishing a differentiated and confident brand image. The brand personality is regarded a useful mean for meeting objectives of a corporation for establishing a distinctive brand identity as well as customers for expressing their self-image. In line with the growing importance of the brand personality, researchers have attempted to measure it by various methods. However, most of researches were based on verbal and quantitative methods which take a long period of time and lots of efforts to analyze their results. Such methods also have limitations for visualizing the results. In this vein, this study aims to develop a new visible brand personality measurement system by utilizing the purpose-designed avatar. Major findings of the study are as follows: Firstly, the avatar can be an effective mean for visualizing the brand personality. As the avatar can visualize the personalities of human-beings through facial expressions, clothing, attitudes and movements, a specially designed avatar can express the brand personality. Secondly, types of the brand personality can be segregated into distinctive seven classes and such classes are used as guidelines for developing specially designed brand personality avatars. Thirdly, the purpose-designed brand personality avatar can be an effective mean for measuring the brand personality as a result of various tests for the validity. In condusion, avatar can be a more powerful tool than language for measuring the brand personality.

In the process of adapting the new technologies, new media has successfully responded to the fast change and the development of its needs by experiencing the trials and errors, steadily establishing the stable position with its new information transferring and exchanging methods. The representative hompage of websites of information transformations means the first page containing no lower directories and consist of titles, icons, symbols and addresses and can design them in consideration of graphical process, planning, contents and others. Such hompages are very important since the graphical images shows its visual expressions deciding the total meanings of the hompages. In this research, we have analyzed the visual factors of frequencies, ratio of areas, distributions, alignment methodologies on layouts of hompages consisting titles, icons, contents and symbols, etc. from randomly picked samples of 161 hompages of websites in the internets of various areas. Generally, the homepages are designed with graphical expressions in personal way and the feedbacks and responses of such may differs, but we think, this can be used as reference materials for the analysis of new media in objective way. Also, it can be used as the base informations for arrangement and planning of designs with the characteristics of graphics and Graphic User Interfaces in the background which are implemented over internet.
The era of film has begun as a few media critics had anticipated already. The interestings of visual designers has asked to being with images in the processing and changing of varied image culture are different from the era of print media. It is reason to being with images that are generalizing of video culture. Now the film of images that made from popular advertisings and goods influenced by films has come. At first to being with image to visual designers need to understand films and to join making films. In films, visual designers make strengthen in part of credit titles. Credit titles are elements in films with the form of text to help understanding in the beginning and closing part of films. Credit title design has begun first by American visual designer Saul Bass as p pioneer position and have made to be varied film credit technics of computer. The advanced of technics have to think aspects of meaning of titles in the film of '007' movie series through 60s &70s. In 80s more technics have developed to being varied credits to films. And after all, in 90s there are films with almost varied titles. In Korean films ars less varied than that of Amenrican's and of French, in this study I hope to develope more varied Korean credit titles in near future.
The brand personality of online products and services is know as its e-brand personality. Although, in the competitive conditions of online markets, e-brand personality is agreed to be an important factor, few studies have suggested how to establish e-brand personality through the visual design of web sites. This study identifies and verifies causal relationships between the visual attributes of web pages and e-brand personalities. The first identifies four major dimensions of e-brand personality on diverse web sites. The second uses 52 experimental home pages to identify key visual attributes associated with those four personality dimensions. The third is a confirmatory study with 16 experimental web sites that verifies causal relationships between visual attributes and e-brand personalities. The results show that two visual attributes, 'simplicity' and 'cohesion,' help to establish a 'bold' personality. Three attributes, 'contrast,' 'density,' and 'regularity,' affect whether a site has an 'analytical' personality. 'Contrast,' 'cohesion,' 'density,' and 'regularity' all influence whether a web site is perceived to have a 'friendly' personality. 'Regularity' and 'balance' were expected to affect the 'sophisticated' personality dimension, but no such impact was observed. The paper concludes with a discussion of implications, limitations, and future research directions.

Recently, shooting photographs have become highly popular among general public and been used by various media such as digital camera, mobile, and kiosk. We could find that users prefer to Funology which is combined by fun and hardware technology on emotional point of view. Shooting photographs attracts user participation and makes effect of design to expand. The goal of this study is to classify user actions in a electronic kiosk which includes digital photography function based on the perspective of Funology and to bulit user behaviors model. Therefore user group model will be defined, and then interaction design guidelines of shooting photographs will be proposed. For this research, first of all, the concepts of Funology and user interaction with taking photographs are classified to three types which is based on literature investigation. Secondly, "Phodosee" kiosk is examined with Funology design elements which have been categorized beforehand. Then user's behaviors which are shown their interaction with "Phodosee" kiosk are observed and analyzed using video ethnography based on Funology perspectives. Finally, four persona models are suggested based on user's behaviors as follows; 1) to avoid being taken photography, 2) to try to shoot photography, 3) to participate shooting photography and 4) to lead others to take photography. To summarize this study, effects and limitations of Funology design elements using digital photography are discussed and guideline is suggested to improve user experience design.

Visitors' behaviors within an exhibition space are a substantial means to grant spatial arrangement and validity of exhibits. Therefore, the study analyzed visitors' behaviors in the viewpoint of attraction power and holding power of exhibits on the basis of exhibition layout of real science museums. Through the analysis, the study grasped efficiency of analysis index and exhibition environment elements which might have an effect on planning the exhibition space of a large-scale museum and producing detailed ranges of exhibition. The main indicators used are: 1. Attraction power: it indicates the relative incidence of people who have stopped in front of an object/exhibit during the exhibition tour. It is calculated by dividing the number of people who stop by the total number of people who have visited the museum or gallery. 2. Holding power: it measures the average time spent in front of an information/communication element. It is calculated by dividing the average time of stay by the time "necessary" to read an element. As a result, It was expected that attraction power and holding power of exhibit would be increased when moving line of seeing was inductive. However, when the traffic movements of seeing was inductive, repetitive seeing of exhibit was almost never realized and visitors had a strong tendency which viewed on their way of moving without viewing on their way of stopping. On the other hand, it may mean that density of exhibit is low or size of exhibition space is small that most of exhibits within exhibition space have high attraction power and holding power. As Gwacheon National Science Museum, when a museum is composed of many large-scale exhibit halls, it should be formed by separating the main moving line of seeing from the optional moving line of seeing through visitors' natural choice of exhibit and proper inducement of moving line of seeing. In such structure, exhibition environment of the main moving line has an effect on attraction of exhibit and the use of optional moving line acts as a factor to increase attraction. In addition, it is thought that attribute of exhibit and proper arrangement of rest space within exhibition space will increase holding power of exhibit.
