Conception and Design of U.I.-U.I. Manual of Seoul National University of Technology (U.I.의 개념 및 제작에 관한 고찰-서울산업대학교 U.I. 매뉴얼을 중심으로-)

  • Started from the Industrial Revolution in England, the design movement, the concept of plastic arts is spread and developed in many European countries. It meets new phase due to the much more developed industrial techniques and internationalized era since the World War II. The concept of identity in design appeared with industrial diversification, specialization, and inter- nationalization comes out through every visual identification standards. And the concept is used in public facilities and groups such as national institutions, schools, hospitals, or lots of religious bodies, as well as in industries to aim at the most profit from products' sale. Since the opening of Seoul National University of Technology in 1910, the university which has long history and tradition of about 90 years has used the unique visual identification in changing the University name to meet with the surrounding environment and the timely characteristics. However, the English name for the University was changed in 1998, so the new era to leap was open. Therefore, the University introduced formally the concept of U. I. (University Identification) with the new image. It is an inevitable outcome of modern time.

  • Based on survey and data analysis, this paper established a separate and hierarchical design process for lady bags. The design process is divided into four parts: survey, concept extraction, separation and hierarchy design and detail improvement. In light of the influence value grade of lady bag design elements, the data of key elements of lady bags were analyzed, and elements related to new product design were extracted to form conceptual elements, and integrated into design experiments at different levels. Then, their usable proportion in design was measured and applied in design to complete the design of new products. Through the experiment, this design process can provide designers with a new design perspective and improves the timeliness and practicability of fashion design.

  • 표현 기법, 특히 산업 디자인 전공에서 진행되고 있는 아이디어 스케치 단계 및 렌더링 테크닉에 있어서 흔히 광원(LIGHT SOURCE)의 개념에 대한 정확한 이해가 부족한 경우를 대하게 된다. 주로 제품 디자인이나 운송디자인에 있어서 마커와 파스텔을 사용하여 자신의 아이디어를 시각적으로 구체화시키게 되는데, 이 과정에서 면의 흐름이나 변화를 일관성 있는 가상적 광원의 설정에 따라 정리해나가지 않으면 결과적으로 대단히 애매하고 모호한 스케치나 렌더링이 될 수밖에 없다. 간결하고 정확한 디자인 프리젠테이션을 위해서는 시각적으로 쉽게 이해가 되는 표현기법을 디자이너가 적절하게 구사해야 하는 것이다. 그러면 본격적으로 제품과 자동차디자인 스케치 과정에서 적용되는 본인이 이론을 설명하기로 한다.

The importance of interface design and its applications within industrial design has been stressed in the recent years, However researches on practical process in interface design developments have been rarely established. This paper aims to develop the interaction design process for the useful user-interface design by theoretical study and actual analysis of user-interface design.

  • Mobile GUI design is changing from an existing design that emphasizes intuitive cognitive effects to an affordance design that naturally triggers users' behaviors. However, in the GUI design, the current affordance only uses some partial design elements and cannot achieve effective design, and the concept of affordance design still has confusion and uncertainty. For this reason, this paper redefines affordance by examining the concepts and types of it in the pre-research. In addition, through questioning the type of affordance, a questionnaire was designed for the GUI elements of social software. According to the results of the survey, the evaluation of the affordance of the GUI design elements was derived, and the GUI design of the social software was compared and analyzed. Then according to the deep interviews, a GUI design proposal that can effectively use affordance was proposed.

  • Virtual Reality fields see the popularization era. Desk-top VR industries are under rapid development, concentrating on various Web VR applications. Performing user navigation in 3D virtual space is a complicate process in which one is looking for a way with understanding logical structures established in a virtual space and noticing established interactions. It is not a process established by a user, but a technical, skillful and conceptual process carefully designed and constructed at the pre-production stage. Therefore, in this paper technical, skillful and conceptual basic theories, related with the interactive navigation in a 3D virtual space, are thoroughly discussed.

  • In 21st century as a digital era, visual communication design becomes more important than any other period. Recently, traditional typographic design for the communication with emphasis on the readability and experimental typographic design with emphasis on the expressionism contrary to the traditional concept coexists. There have been experiments on the typography with the establishment of modem art concept in the past: this trend is more obvious since the 1980s with the technological development of desktop computer. In this study, experimental typography works by David Carson who is one of the most representative graphic designers of the 1990s are analyzed in detail, and problems and prospects of this experimental typography in a digital era contrary to the traditional viewpoint we discussed.

  • After the industrial revolution, the design concepts have established by the basis of the ornament and styling and emphasized in the respect of characteristics of the art and manufacture. On the other side, theoretical research part of design has neglected. But, the modem concepts of design is changing into new concept that shares the attributes of various sides of sociology, cultural sciences, engineering and business adminstration study. In accordance with the change of design concept, the utility frequency of the statistical method is increasing in the ares of design. In this paper, we evaluated the adequacy of statistical method of the design papers that were published in the Journal of Korean Society of Design Science.

  • A contemporary design which might accept diversity through the coming materialised world and the development of communication of technology Quickly, would have no more new design value with such a design thought that is still fixed by general and principle rule. Because there are a lot of requirements of new relationship between humans who are going to have more sensitivity and things which are born continuously Even though Droog Design is a young design group, they have been recognised by the design community for their experimental approach and re-think not only as a function but also as a concept of existing things. Their thought is that humans have been given a better quality of life through design, and that there should be responsibility for abuse in the material world and has to do with the improvement of things related with human life. Particularly when dealing with form-giving they endow it not just as a tool but also as a sensitivity and experience with both human and human-made artifacts. Like A design mentality of Droog Design, which is extraordinary originality and methodological skills, is a stimulus on a contemporary design.
