Post-buckling Behavior and Vibration Characteristics of Patched Reinforced Spherical Composite Panels (패치로 보강된 구형 복합재료 패널의 후좌굴 거동 및 진동 특성해석)

  • The finite element method based on the total Lagrangian description of the motion and the Hellinger-Reissner principle with independent strain is applied to investigate the nonlinear behavior and vibration characteristics for patched reinforced laminated spherical panels. The patched elements are formulated using variable thickness at arbitrary point on the reference plane. The cylindrical arc-length method is adopted to obtain a nonlinear solution. The post-buckled vibration is assumed to be small amplitude. The effect of patch in the spherical shell Panel is investigated on the nonlinear response and the fundamental vibration characteristics. The present results show that the load-carrying capability can be improved by reinforcing patch. The fundamental frequency of patched panel is lower than that of equivalent shell panel. However, the fundamental frequency of patched panel does not decrease greatly due to the increase of nonlinear geometrical stiffness under loading.

  • In this paper, do link ripple currents for three-phase ac/dc/ac PWM converters feeding adjustable speed ac machine drives are analysed in a frequency domain. The expression of the harmonic currents is developed by using switching functions of the converter and exponential courier series expansion. The effect of the displacement angle between the switching Periods of line-side converters and motor-side inverters on the dc link ripple currents is Investigated. Also, the influence of asynchronization of PWM is observed. The result of analysis is compared with frequency spectrum which results from PSIM simulation. The proposed analysis technique is useful to understand the principles of P% and to derive an equivalent model of the dc link capacitors in a high frequency range.

  • In this paper, a voltage compensator with harmonic current compensating capability is studied and its compensating characteristics are analyzed. Like the hybrid active power filter, the proposed system is composed of parallel LC passive filter and series PWM converter connected to power line through series transformer. It is shown that the compensation of harmonic current generated due to nonlinear loads such as diode rectifier and instantaneous voltage compensation of the source are performed through the proposed compensating system. The operating principle of the proposed system is described through a single-phase equivalent circuit and the control strategy is suggested on the d-q rotating reference frame of the 3-phase system. Also, experiment is carried out to verify compensating characteristics of the proposed system.

  • This paper proposes a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) controller design technique using intelligent digital redesign. Intelligent digital redesign is to convert a well-designed analog fuzzy-model-based controller into an equivalent pulse-amplitude-modulation (PAM) digital controller maintaining the original analog control system in the sense of state-matching. In similar line of conversion concept, the redesigned PAM intelligent digital controller is converted into a PWM controller using the equivalent area principle. To convincingly visualize the proposed technique, an computer simulation example-attitude control of nonlinear artificial satellite system is included.

  • The lateral forces such as the earthquake and wind my cause the torsion to be coupled with the lateral bending in the gider, the cross-section of wich has only one axis of symmetry. This induces additional stresses especially in cables arranged in double-planes. Since this effect cannot be considered by using the conventional frame elements, the stiffness and the mass matrices of the geometrically nonlinear thin-walled frame element are developed in this study to model the girder. The equivalent modulus of elasticity proposed by Ernst is used for the cable elements. Verification of the present theory is made through a numerical example. Then, the free vibration of a three dimensional cable-stayed bridge is analyzed to study the coupled flexural-torsional behavior.

  • The induction heating is widely used not only in the industrial fields but also in the home appliances. But the conventional induction heating systems have shortcoming that it use only magnetic utensil, in this paper, heating of Aluminum sheet by full-bridge series resonant high-frequency inverter is proposed. Also, the principle of induction heating and operations of full-bridge inverter equivalent circuit are explained. The proposed inverter controls the output voltage using phase-shift irrespective of the switching frequency using phase-shift. As a result the proposed induction heating system by full-bridge resonant inverter shows the possibility that make up for the shortcoming of the conventional existing induction heating systems.

  • The yield-line analysis is used for earring out the limit analysis of reinforced concrete slabs which are for example like those of vertical walls of tanks subjected to the loads of hydrostatical type. It is considered both isotropic and orthotropic reinforcement using the coefficient of orthotropy with different edge conditions. The yield-line analysis is carried out by using the vertical work method and four collapse mechanisms including the fan mechanisms which is more realistic than over diagonal mechanisms is considered. It is found that the fan mechanisms are more complicated than ever simple diagonal mechanisms which have used for the orthotropically reinforced concrete slabs subjected to hydrostatic pressures. Especially Horton's study is extended in this study, and they are formulated to the constrained multi-variables nonlinear optimization problems, which are solved by the Rosen-Brock Hillclimb Procedure Program and are more critical.

Elasto-Plastic Anisotropic-Damage Model for Concrete (콘크리트의 탄-소성 이방성-손상 모델)

  • The initiation and growth of microcracks or microvoids inside concrete results in the progressive degradation of concrete. This damage processing along processing along with plastic deformation is main cause of nonlinear behavior of concrete. In this study, a continuum damage model of concrete is developed for the analysis of the nonlinear behavior of concrete due to damage and elasto-plastic deformation. Anisotropic damage tensor is used to describe the anisotropy of concrete and hypothesis of equivalent elastic energy is used to define the effective elastic tensor. The damage model including the damage evolution law and constitutive equation is derived with damage variable and damage surface which is defined by damage energy release rate by using the Helmholtz free energy and dissipation potential based on the thermodynamic principles. By adopting a typical plasticity model of concrete, plasticity of concrete is included to this model. Afinite element analysis program implemented with this model was developed and finite element analysis was performed for the analyses of concrete subjected to uniaxial and biaxial loadings. Comparison of the results of analysis with those of experiments and other models shows that the model successfully predicts the nonlinear behavior of concrete.

  • Inductive sensors are versatile and economical devices that are widely used to measure a wide variety of physical variables, such as displacement, force, and pressure. In this paper, we propose a simple inductive sensor consisting of a thin partial ring and a coil set. The self-inductance of the sensor was estimated using magnetic circuit analysis and validated through finite element analysis (FEA). The natural frequency of the ring was estimated using Castigliano's theorem and the method of equivalent mass. The estimation was validated through experiments and FEA. A prototype sensor with a signal processing circuit is built and applied to noninvasively sense the pressure inside a flexible tube. The obtained sensor outputs show quadratic behavior with respect to the pressure. When fitted to a quadratic equation, the least-square measurement error was less than 2%. The results confirm the feasibility of pressure sensing using the proposed inductive sensor.

Analog Parallel Processing Algorithm of CNN-UM for Interframe Change Detection (프레임간의 영상 변화 검출을 위한 CNN-UM의 아날로그 병렬연산처리 알고리즘)

  • The CNN-UM algorithm which performs the analog parallel subtraction of images has been developed and its application study to the moving target detection has been done. The CNN-UM is the state of the art computation architecture with high computational potential of analog parallel processing. It is one of the strong candidates for the next generation of computing system which fulfills requirement of the real-time image processing. One weakness of the CNN-UM is that its analog parallel processing function is not fully utilized for the inter frame processing. If two subsequent image frames are superimposed with opposite signs on identical capacitors for short time period, the analog subtraction between them is achieved. The Principle of such temporal inter-frame processing algorithm has been described and its mathematical analysis has been done. Practical usefulness of the proposed algorithm has also been verified through the application for moving target detection.
