  • In this paper, we present a received signal strength (RSS) prediction model to timely Initiate link layer triggers for fast handoff in a wireless LAN system. Noting that the distance between a mobile terminal and an access point is not changed abruptly in a short time interval, an adaptive RSS predictor based on a stationary time series model is proposed. RSS data obtained from ns-2 simulations are used to identity the time series model and verify the predictability of the RSS data. The results suggest that an autoregressive process of order 1 (AR(1)) can be used to represent the measured RSSs in a short time interval and predict at least 1-step ahead RSS with a high confidence level.

  • PubMed stands alone among database related to biomedical literature. On this thesis, PubMed meta-data at some point is collected and built. The service model which serve the dynamic RSS channel, one of the core services in an web2.0 era, is designed and developed. E-Utilities service(API) served by PubMed are analyzed. The meta-data aggregator and builder are developed. Also the dynamic RSS channel generator is developed and the method how it could be used in the RSS reader is suggested.

  • With the rapid development of Web Service technology, the number of Web Service providers which provide same Web Services are increasing. As a result, the QoS elements become more and more important factors for Web Service matchmaking. But, most of previous research efforts do not consider various QoS elements including Service-specific QoS elements during the matchmaking process. In this paper, we propose a Web Service matchmaking scheme which allow dynamic QoS adaptation using the RSS technique. We first classify various QoS elements and describe an extensible QoS model. We then explain a matchmaking scheme, which can utilize the proposed QoS elements. We also show how to dynamically add user-specific QoS elements using the RSS mechanism, thus improving the correctness of web service matchmaking process. Finally, we implemented the proposed schemes and showed the usefulness of our methods through some experiments.

  • Modern aircraft fighters improve the maneuverability and performance with the RSS (Relaxed Static Stability) concept and therefore these aircrafts are susceptible to abrupt pitch-up in the transonic and moderate Angle-of-Attack (AoA) flight region where the shock wave is formed and the mean aerodynamic center is moved forward during deceleration. Also, the modeling of the aircraft flying in this flight region is very difficult due to complex flow filed and unpredictable dynamic characteristics and the model-based control design technique does not fully cover this problem. In this paper, we analyzed the performance of the TPMC (Transonic Pitching Moment Compensation) control based on the model-based IDI (Incremental Dynamic Inversion) and the Hybrid IDI based on the model and sensor based IDI during the SDT (Slow Down Turn) in transonic region. As the result, the Hybrid IDI had quicker response and the same maximum g suppression performance and provided the predictable flying qualities compared to the TPMC control. The Hybrid IDI improved the performance of the Over-G protection controller in the transonic and moderate AoA region

  • In this paper, we investigate the throughput capacity of a multi-hop relay with cognitive radio (CR) enabled relay stations (RS). We suggest a TDMA/FDMA based frame structure where RSs dynamically select unused channels to communicate with the base station (BS) using CR techniques to analyze the throughput capacity. We develop the throughput capacity model for the proposed system based on utilization factor. The analytical results based on those equations show significant improvement in throughput capacity for CR enabled multi-hop relay system.
