Variant angina causes chest pain due to abnormal coronary vasospasms. A 60-year-old male who was diagnosed with variant angina was admitted to the Oriental Medicine Hospital and treated with herbal medicines, including Pyungjinsujeom-san and Simjeok-hwan. After treatment, the frequency of chest pain and use of nitroglycerin decreased. Subjective symptoms of chest pain measured using a numerical rating scale (NRS) also decreased. These improvements persisted throughout the hospitalization period. In conclusion, Korean medicines, including Pyungjinsujeom-san and Simjeok-hwan, can be effective for patients with chest pain due to variant angina.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to organize the research methods and results of studies related to the temperature of the warm needle for systematic utilization of warm needling technique. Methods: This study used the databases of nine (Pubmed, Science Direct, Cochrane Central, 4 Korean databases, CNKI, CiNii) to analyze temperature-related studies of the warm needle from 2000 to June 2019. Results: A total of 19 papers were included. Of these, 15 were used for mugwort, 2 for high frequency, and 1 for both mugwort and high frequency, and the other one for a ceramic heater. The maximum temperature rises as the amount of moxibustion increases. It is also affected by the density of moxa and the ignition part. There were 16 papers using stainless steel needles and 4 papers using a needle made of gold or silver to compare. In the area of the needle, the closer it is to moxibustion, the hotter it is. Compared to stainless steel needles, gold and silver needles showed almost twice the temperature. The effects of environment and radiant heat should be considered during warm needle procedures. Conclusions: There are various experimental methods such as warm needle technique materials, methods, measuring parts, measuring instruments, etc. The results were also very diverse. When setting the heating source, ignition part, size of moxibustion, etc. of warm needles, it should be implemented in a way that takes safety and validity into account. Considerations for temperature characteristics, radiant heat, etc. of warm needles will be needed when making warm needle apparatus.

한번 몰아치면 일주일, 심지어는 열흘동안 위세를 떨쳤던 지난 겨울의 한파도 어김없이 밀려드는 봄기운에 힘없이 자리를 양보하던 2월. 인쇄산업 심장부에서 산학협력 클러스터를 형성한다는 막중한 역할을 자임하고 나선 동국대학교 산업대학원 인쇄화상전공을 찾았다. 봄을 부르는 입춘을 통과하고 있는 시점, 동국대학교는 이미 곳곳에서 생기를 뿜어내고 있었다. 지난 2004년 2학기에 개설, 산학협력의 새로운 길을 개척해 나가고 있는 동국대학교 산업대학원 인쇄화상전공에 대한 탐방은 유창준 편집국장과 이의수 인쇄화상전공 주임교수, 김성욱 인쇄 화상전공 1기 학생대표간의 인쇄산업과 산학협력에 대한 깊이 있는 인터뷰 중심으로 진행됐다.

이 연구는 1855(철종 6)년에 배상현(裴象鉉)이 저술한 문물 제도서인 "동국십지"의 10지(志) 중 하나인 "예문지"를 분석하였다. "동국십지" "예문지"에는 고구려, 신라, 고려 및 조선의 서적과 중국의 서적 137종을 수록하고 있으며, "예문지" 나름의 15류(類)의 분류 및 배열체계를 지닌다. 또한 "예문지"에서 서적의 수록은 편찬된 시대, 찬자(撰者), 서명(書名) 등 일부는 서적의 해제까지 붙어 있다. 그러나 찬자 배상현의 분류체계는 "동국십지"가 모방한 "한서" "예문지"나 비슷한 시기에 편찬된 "동국통지" "예문지"의 분류체계와 비교한 결과, 경서(經書) 등 일부분을 자세히 확립된 반면 일부 주제와 관련하여 체계가 설정되지 않았다. "동국십지" "예문지"의 수록도서는 한국 찬술도서와 중국 찬술도서로 구별되며, 대부분 한국 찬술도서로 구성되었다. 수록도서의 주제는 사부분류로 분석한 결과, 경(經) > 자(子) > 집(集) > 사(史) 순으로 많았으나 그 종수가 크게 차이나지 않는다. 연구대상인 "동국십지" "예문지"는 통시대적이고 종합적 문물제도서로서, 비록 완벽한 체제와 내용을 갖추지 못하였으나 개인의 힘으로 그 당시의 서적들을 수록했다는 점에서 가치가 있다.

Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the macrophages polarization of traditional Korean medicine on cardiac pain about Geum-Gwe-Yo-Ryak's two prescriptions including Kwaruhaebaekbanha-tang (KHB) and Kwaruhaebaekpaekju-tang (KHP). Materials and methods: Flow cytometry analysis was used to measure the changes in the ratio of M1 type and M2 type macrophages. Protein expression of nuclear factor-like 2 (Nrf2), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) were measured by Western Blot, and ABCA1 and SR-B1 were detected by real time PCR (RT-PCR). Intracellular lipid accumulation was measured by Oil Red O staining (ORO staining). Results: KHB and KHP increase anti-oxidative activity related protein levels including Nrf2 and HO-1. Furthermore, KHB and KHP inhibit lipid accumulation on intracellular levels through induction of ATP binding receptor cassette subfamily A member 1 (ABCA1) and scavenging receptor class B member 1 (SR-B1), respectively. Finally, KHB and KHP also blocked pro-inflammatory mediators including tumor necrosis factor-alpha ($TNF{\alpha}$) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), iNOS and COX-2 expression. Conclusion: This study suggests that KHB and KHP potently regulate the M1/M2 macrophage polarization.

■ Objectives This case is to report the effect of Ssanghap-tang on paresthesia of a subarachnoid hemorrhage patient. ■ Methods A male Korean patient was treated with Ssanghap-tang and acupuncture, moxibustion for total 30 days. We observed limbs numbness, circumferences, other symptoms such as weakness and any adverse event. ■ Results After treatment, numeric rating scale of limb numbness was improved to 5 from 8 at admission without any adverse event. However, we could not find any significant differences on hand circumference and limb weakness. ■ Conclusion This case suggests that Ssanghap-tang and acupuncture, moxibustion therapy could be effective in improving paresthesia of subarachnoid hemorrhage patient.
