A Study on the Reading Effectiveness of School Library Event Collection Programs: Focusing on Korean History (학교도서관 이벤트컬렉션 프로그램의 독서 효과에 관한 연구: 한국사 분야를 중심으로)

  • This study explores the effectiveness and applications of event collection programs, which are integrated programs with event experience and collection experience as a cooperation model that combines school education and library resources as course-related materials. For the purpose, a triangulated analysis with both quantitative and qualitative data was conducted. As a result, This study examined an event collection program's effectiveness which were positive effects on the participated students' reading and perceptions on the roles of their school libraries. The event collection supported the students to self-construct their knowledge by exploring information with the provision of a collection with various materials on a topic, which would be hardly provided within the traditional library subject classification, and that the event collection program could be a useful tool for self-directed reading due to its promotion of interaction, sharing, and participation among materials and the participated students by functional factors of experiential marketing.

The Subject Analysis on the Reading Programs of the Public Libraries in the Metropolitan Cities (대도시 공공도서관의 '독서의 달' 프로그램의 주제 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the main subjects of the reading programs which are provided by the public libraries during september, "the reading month," in 7 metropolitan cities, Seoul, Pusan, Daegu, Incheon, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Ulsan. To achieve this purpose, the data are collected from 622 programs of the sixty-two libraries. The content analysis method was used to analyze data and find results from it. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Reading and culture are identified as the main subjects of the programs. 2. The preferred subjects among the public libraries in 7 metropolitan cities are identified as different.

  • This study examines the teachers' perception of the school library's role and the teacher-librarian expertise that enables collaborative reading education in elementary schools. Furthermore, it develops strategies that the school library and teacher-librarians should undertake for collaborative reading education. The questionnaire was developed to survey 176 teachers in 9 elementary schools in Gyeonggi-do. As a result, the teacher's perception of the school library's role and event role perception would positively impact the expected effects of collaborative reading education intention. This study is meaningful in that suggestions are offered for collaborative reading education and where teacher-librarian expertise is placed.

A Study on the Operation Cases and Usage Direction of Metaverse Cultural Programs in Domestic Public Libraries (국내 공공도서관 메타버스 문화프로그램 운영사례 및 활용방향성에 대한 연구)

  • This study examined the primary features of cultural program operation instances on the metaverse platform. In addition, an interview was performed with librarians in charge of the public library culture program to get their perspectives on the viability of using the metaverse platform for each sort of cultural program. Ultimately, we intended to provide guidelines for organizing and administering a cultural program on the metaverse platform in a public library. The results showed that there are seven types of cultural programs using the Metaverse platform: library tours, education, reading, exhibits, performances, games, and events. librarians in charge of the public library culture program responded positively to the future use of library tours, exhibitions, games, and events. Education can be used depending on the character of the educational program while reading and performances are less likely to be used in the future. Regarding how to use the Metaverse platform, Zepeto was most likely to be used for tours, and Gather and Zep for education, exhibits, games, and events.

A Study on the Development of Book Talk Shows Program Applied Talk, Music, and Video Shows (토크.뮤직.영상 쇼의 개념을 적용한 북 토크 쇼 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to perform reading based on their levels of reading readiness for different groups of readers, to develop the Book Talk Show program which was dependent on the philosophies and emotions on reconstructed topics of the concerned books by Talk, Music, and Video Shows, enabled communal sharing of the effects of reading, to provide an evaluation tool of such applications in real readings, and to evaluate the validity and usefulness of the devised program scheme. At first, the concept of "Book Talk Shows" was established on the base of the definition of Talk, Music, and Video Shows, then the program was applied to the readers across 4 different Book Talk Shows, and examined its problems and any possible revisions. At the same time, the survey was conducted on 39 experts and professional in the field of Book Talk Show management[31 people(79.5%) provided answers to the survey) on the validity and usefulness of the devised program scheme. The Results of survey showed that 27 people(87.1% of the people who provided answers to the survey) said that these suggestions were "very valuable and useful" and 24 people from this group(88.9%) said that they would like to "apply" such program designs to their own programs. However, the vast majority of the recipients said that they would face problems of 'budget' and 'readiness' when applying such program design, and emphasized the importance of budget assurance in developing and applying future models in Book Talks Show programs.

  • Sejong City Library information services and programs proposed in this study are proposed by combining cases of local representative libraries and overseas libraries. As a feature of the proposal, first, various information services that can be provided by the Sejong City Library are proposed by area, by user, by data type, by media, by partner institution, etc. Second, by reinforcing user programs for each life cycle, various reading programs by age and interest, such as reading discussion, reading experience, and reading events, are provided. Reinforce user-based programs that reflect the characteristics of Sejong City's population, such as adult, child, and family programs. Third, secure and utilize maker space space. Fourth, the reading program developed by the Sejong City Library is promoted and shared in cooperation with local libraries. Fifth, induce participation of local residents in Sejong City, volunteer activities and talent donation. Sixth, propose library information services using library websites and social media, and develop channels for mutual cooperation with users.

  • This study, by case investigation of book review, one of user-participation services in university library, and questionnaire investigation on librarians, aims at suggesting current statuses, problems, and improvement. This study investigated the services performed at 35 4-year universities establishing the department of library and information science. This study, except 7 ones which doesn't offer the service, investigated the service offered by 28 universities, classifying with 3 contents. As a result, the publicity and method in university library including event had an influence on use. This study was performed to increase participation rate and to promote reading activity. This study judged that book review is indispensible to university libraries. Libraries presented the opinions that, for the purpose of promoting active book review, libraries have to perform positive publicity, attractive event, support in the level of schools, librarians' wills, expansion of discussion cultures, offer of unified book review among universities, and linkage method with other organization reading program.
