  • The clamping of torque shear bolt is based on KS B 2819. It was misunderstood that the tension force of the TS bolt was induced generally at the break of pin-tail specified. However, the clamping forces on slip critical connections do not often meet the intended tension, as it considerably varies due to torque coefficient dependent on temperature variables despite the break of the pin tail. In this study, the tension of torque shear bolts were compared with two types of high-strength hexagon bolts by temperature parameters from ${-10^{\circ}C}$ to ${50^{\circ}C}$. Torque shear bolts showed that the average clamping force increased to 20kN as the temperature increased. In case of galvanized high-strength hexagon bolts, the average clamping forces at $0^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$ were recorded over standard bolt tension, 178kN, and the worst standard deviation was 50kN. In case of high-strength hexagon bolts, ave rage clamping forces increased as the temperature went up, and the worst standard deviation was 33kN lower than that of galvanized high-strength hexagon bolts. As for the turn-of-the-nut method, at nut rotation of ${90^{\circ}}$, two types of high-strength hexagon bolts did not met the intended design bolt in tension, 162kN.it is neccessary to re-evaluate the range of turn of nut, ${120^{\circ}{\pm}30^{\circ}}$.

  • In this study, the static and the fatigue tests were performed with high tension bolted joints, of which the surfaces were spread with inorganic zinc-primer after shot-blast, and milling surface, and steel-natural surface, difference of friction surface condition were examined by comparing the esults of tests. From the result of synthetical investigation of this study. it is proper that using the torque management method in order to introduce design axial force to blots, and the provision of specifications that initial axial forces must be 110% of design axial forces is proper. Decreasing ratio of axial forces to initial force is proportional to common lorgarithms of time progress, it converge constant value after 20 hours, and decreasing ratio is little related to the roughness of friction surface. Sliding coefficient of milling, spreading inorganic zinc-primer, just producting is great in order and sliding forces are dependent on the applied axial forces, but if the applied axial forces are great, sliding coefficient become small by a loss of roughness. So it is confirmed that relation between the applied axial forces and the sliding forces are not proportional linearly. From the result of estimation on fatigue strength, all specimens satisfy the specifications with B-grade and milling surface is lower than the others about 14% in fatigue strength because in milling surface lose the function of friction-types joints at lower number of cycles. From the result of eximination for the distribution area of compressive force, friction area near to inside bolt is wider in the direction of stress than near to outside. It is guessed that this situation occurs because outside bolts firstly change from the friction connection to the bearing connection.

  • The torque-coefficient of torque-shear type high-strength bolts is affected by the environmental factors, such as 'wet', 'rust', 'exposure to air' and workability during tightening high strength bolts. It is difficult to assume the direct tension induced into the bolt due to variation of torque-coefficient for torque-shear type high-strength bolts. Therefore, it is essential to measure tension loads of bolts and to verify the clamping force under construction. In this study, the manufacture of trial product was planned to identify the induced force into the bolts. The algorithm for a trial product was composed of the relation between electricity energy taken from torque shear wrench and tension force from hydraulic tension meter. The regression analysis equation to measure the direct tension was derived by statistical analysis using Minitab program. It is considered that the trial product is reliable tool to evaluate the tension force comparable to a commercial torque wrench.

  • Because the torque control method, which is also caled the clamping method in domestic construction sites, is affected by a variation of the torque coefficient, quality control of the torque coefficient is essential. This study was focused to evaluate the effects of several environmental factors and errors when installing bolts while tightening high-strength bolts. Conditioning environmental parameters include wet, rusty and exposure-to-air-only conditions. In addition, because of errors in workability such as instalation of two washers, upset washers are selected. During the tests, torque, torque coefficient, tension and angle of nut rotation were obtained using a bolt testing machine. Test specimens of four types of bolts (High-Strength Hexagon bolt on KS B 1010, Torque Shear Bolt on KS B 2819, High-Strength Hexagon bolt coated with zinc, and ASTM 490 bolt) were recomended. Based on test results, the tightening characteristics subjected to environmental parameters were investigated and compared with the results in normal condition.

  • This study was performed to estimate the anchorage behavior for Bi Prestressed Concrete Girder(Bicon girder) which could introduce effectively prestressed forces into concrete girders. A bicon girder is manufactured by means of introducing pure bending moment that prestress simultaneously the compressive member(steel bar) and the tensile member(steel tendon). Therefore, the steel bar and the steel tendon must be unified in both ends and compressive and tensile force be offset. Anchorage dimension of 6 test specimens was designed under PTI specification which defined maximum stress and deformation to estimate structural behavior. Test results showed that the stress and the deformation of anchorage were within limits if the steel bar behaviored elastically.

  • According to the capacity design concept underlying current steel seimsic provisions, the braces in concentrically braced frames should dissipate seismic energy through cyclic tension yielding and compression buckling. On the other hand, the beams and the columns in the braced bay should remain elastic for gravity load actions and additional column axial forces resulting from the brace buckling and yielding. However, due to the difficulty in accumulating the yielding and buckling-induced column forces from different stories, empirical and often conservative approaches have been used in design practice. Recently a totally different approach was proposed by Cho, Lee, and Kim (2011) for the prediction of column axial forces in inverted V-braced frames by explicitly considering brace buckling. The idea proposed in their study is extended to X-braced seismic frames which have structural member configurations and load transfer mechanism different from those of inverted V-braced frames. Especially, a more efficient rule is proposed in combining multi-mode effects on the column axial forces by using the modal-mass based weighting factor. The four methods proposed in this study are evaluated based on extensive inelastic dynamic analysis results.

  • The offshore plant structure has been transported to the site by barge because it is hard to manufacture in site. When the structure was transported on the sea, offshore plant structures and connection were experienced repetitive submarine load. For this reason, it was known for that the axial force of high-strength bolted connection was declined. Therefore, in this study, high-strength bolted connection was evaluated the shear fatigue performance under longtime fatigue load during marine transport. The experimental variables were selected intial axial force, surface type, and bolt type because they ar important factors in the change of axial force of bolts. As a experimental results of considering various variables, the variation of axial force showed within 1%. Therefore, the high-strength bolted connection was verified structural safety under longtime fatigue load.

  • A restraint coefficient for creep and dry shrinkage deformation of concrete in a composite section was derived to calculate the residual stress, and an equation for the loss rate of the pre-compression force was proposed. The derived restraint coefficient was computed by using the transformed section properties for the age-adjusted effective modulus of elasticity. The long-term behavior of complicate composite sections could be analyzed easily with the restraint coefficient. The articles of the current design code was examined for PSC and steel composite sections. The dry shrinkage strains of $150 ~ 200$\times$10^{-6}$ for the computations of the statically indeterminate force and the expansion joint could be under-estimated for less restrained sections such as the reinforced concrete. The dry shrinkage strain of $180$\times$10^{-6}$ for the computation of residual stress in the steel composite section was unreasonably less value. The loss rate of 16.3% of the design code for the PSC composite section in this study was conservative for the long-term deformation of the ACI 205 but could not be used safely for that of the Eurocode 2. For pre-compressed concrete slab in the steel composite section, the loss rate of prestressed force with low strength reinforcement was much larger than that with high strength tendon. The loss rate of concrete pre-compression increased, while that of pre-tension decreased due to the restraint of the steel girder.
