Analysis of Future Demand and Utilization of the Urban Meteorological Data for the Smart City (스마트시티를 위한 도시기상자료의 미래수요 및 활용가치 분석)

  • A smart city utilizes data collected from various sensors through the internet of things (IoT) and improves city operations across the urban area. Recently substantial research is underway to examine all aspects of data that requires for the smart city operation. Atmospheric data are an essential component for successful smart city implementation, including Urban Air Mobility (UAM), infrastructure planning, safety and convenience, and traffic management. Unfortunately, the current level of conventional atmospheric data does not meet the needs of the new city concept. New and innovative approaches to developing high spatiotemporal resolution of observational and modeling data, resolving the complex urban structure, are expected to support the future needs. The geographic information system (GIS) integrates the atmospheric data with the urban structure and offers information system enhancement. In this study we proposed the necessity and applicability of the high resolution urban meteorological dataset based on heavy fog cases in the smart city region (e.g., Sejong and Pusan) in Korea.

Development of Image Classification Model for Urban Park User Activity Using Deep Learning of Social Media Photo Posts (소셜미디어 사진 게시물의 딥러닝을 활용한 도시공원 이용자 활동 이미지 분류모델 개발)

  • This study aims to create a basic model for classifying the activity photos that urban park users shared on social media using Deep Learning through Artificial Intelligence. Regarding the social media data, photos related to urban parks were collected through a Naver search, were collected, and used for the classification model. Based on the indicators of Naturalness, Potential Attraction, and Activity, which can be used to evaluate the characteristics of urban parks, 21 classification categories were created. Urban park photos shared on Naver were collected by category, and annotated datasets were created. A custom CNN model and a transfer learning model utilizing a CNN pre-trained on the collected photo datasets were designed and subsequently analyzed. As a result of the study, the Xception transfer learning model, which demonstrated the best performance, was selected as the urban park user activity image classification model and evaluated through several evaluation indicators. This study is meaningful in that it has built AI as an index that can evaluate the characteristics of urban parks by using user-shared photos on social media. The classification model using Deep Learning mitigates the limitations of manual classification, and it can efficiently classify large amounts of urban park photos. So, it can be said to be a useful method that can be used for the monitoring and management of city parks in the future.

Transformation UIS DB and Determination of Coordinates Transformation Coefficients for Wonju City with Translation of Nation Geodetic Datum (국가측지좌표계 전환에 따른 변환계수 결정 및 도시기반정보 데이터베이스 변환 -원주시를 대상으로-)

  • With the use of world geodetic system, the UIS DB of WonJu City, which was established on Korea coordinate system becomes to face the need of coordinates transformation. However, the UIS DB of Wonju City is based on dualistic control points of Korea geodetic system, which means the coordinates system is not standardized. Therefore it is required to establish a plan for transformation into world geodetic system. For this purpose, we calculated coordinate transformation coefficients per control point data of Korea geodetic system and verified the accuracy of transformation coefficients. Through the process, we propose a plan for transforming the coordinate system of UIS DB in WonJu City, which has been based on dualistic control point data of Korea geodetic system, efficiently into the world geodetic system.

북미 커뮤니티가든의 공간구성 특성 고찰 - 시애틀 피패치(P-Patch)를 중심으로 -

  • 도시농업 및 커뮤니티에 대한 사회적 관심에 편승하여 근래 도시의 커뮤니티가든(Community Garden)이 주목받고 있다. 북미의 커뮤니티가든은 농작물 생산 위주의 개인텃밭을 포괄한 지역사회의 구성원과 함께 만들어가는 오픈스페이스의 형태로, 화훼 등을 포괄하는 개념으로 간주되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 커뮤니티가든의 발상지인 북미 중에서도 가장 선진적인 사례로 손꼽히고 있는 미국 워싱턴주 시애틀(Seattle)시의 피패치(P-Patch)를 대상으로, 85개의 현장 전수조사를 통하여 공간설계 및 디자인요소를 추출하여 시사점을 도출하였다. 분석결과, 첫째 시애틀 피패치의 일반적인 디자인 구성요소는 기반시설, 지원시설, 휴게시설, 특수시설, 친환경시설 등 다섯 가지 기능으로 대별할 수 있는데, 지원시설로는 공구함(Tool Shed)이나 수전시설(Spigot)이, 친환경시설로는 도마(Cutting Board)나 퇴비함(Compost Bin)이 대부분 설치되어 있다. 둘째, 피패치의 공간구성 및 디자인적 특징으로는 이용자 수요 및 입지적 특성을 반영한 유연한 정원 설계를 들 수 있다. 셋째, 피패치는 다목적형 기능을 겸비한 복합적 공공장소로서 공공의 제도적 지원과 시민운동을 연계하는 기회를 제공하고 있다. 넷째, 지속가능성을 담보하기 위해 다양한 이해관계자(이용자, 코디네이터, 운영진, 전문가, 지역주민, 자원봉사자 등)와의 파트너십 구축, 다양한 재원 조달 방안 모색, 체계적인 모니터링 시스템 구축 및 운영을 지속하고 있다.

  • 하천수변조사는 하천수변의 물리 화학 생물학적 특성 파악과 이들의 상호 연관성 및 변화양상을 분석하기 위한 기초자료 수집과정이다. 하천수변조사는 치수 및 이수기능뿐아니라 하천환경 기능을 보전, 재생 및 복원시키고자 하는 하천정비사업에 이용되고 있으며, 이에 따라 하천정비기본계획, 하천환경정비사업 등에서 많은 조사가 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 수집된 자료의 형태가 대부분 도면이나 이미지 형태로 관리되고 있어 향후에 수변의 변화 상태를 갱신하기가 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 행정중심복합도시 권역내의 국가하천, 지방하천, 소하천을 대상으로 하천수변조사를 실시하였으며 조사결과의 체계적 관리를 도모하기 위하여 하천수변조사지도 DB 구축과 이를 관리할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 연구의 성과는 단기적으로는 하천환경정비시 보전 및 복원 방향의 설정, 하천의 현재 상황을 파악하고 이를 공사 진행에 반영, 공사 과정 중에서 하천의 반응상태를 파악하여 사업진행이나 방식을 개선하는데 활용될 수 있다. 장기적으로는 행정중심복합도시 조성 전후의 하천환경 및 생태변화상을 제공할 수 있고 자연친화적인 하천환경 관리를 위한 하천환경정보를 제공할 수 있다.

A Strategy of Smart City Growth through Social and Living Lab (사회-참여 중심의 스마트도시 성장 전략)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest a smart city strategy through smart growth considering the human, social and cultural meaning. It seeks opportunities to develop the cities that has not grown by integrating the ICT, a new growth tool for smart cities, into the spatial and physical renewal project. Method: Analyzing policy and strategy of smart living lab and digital cultural contents on the smart growth process under the experience in Amsterdam and Paris. Results: Smart city is expected to be reflected not only the technical aspects but the social characteristics of the city in order to enhance the living environment of the citizens by embracing diverse viewpoints throughout the city. It examines the smart growth plan in the improvement of the living conditions of the citizens. Conclusion: Planning smart city is to discover the smart city adaptability that can enhance the capability of cities to improve the life condition and quality of citizens by applying the core strategies and specialized programs with community service and urban marketing, which are emerging as smart cities based on ICT technologies.

  • u-City is next generation city which can innovate functions of city. It can realize increase of convenience, improvement of life quality and safety guarantee by convergence of information technologies and ubiquitous service with urban space. Market of u-City is in range of rapid growth and u-City can make enormous synergy effects by accompanying construction technologies with spatial information, sensor technologies, communications network and related equipments. In this study, we analyzed the domestic/abroad status, researches and element technologies involved in u-City. And, we suggested overseas expansion strategy of u-City such as selection and analysis of target nations, packaging method of u-City service models and application of BIM/GIS connection technologies in terms of u-City construction and operation.

  • For efficiently safety management of city gas pipelines, the City-gas Pipeline Management System(CPMS) has been developed to systematically manage and analyze the data collected from 33 city gas companies and to effectively perform internal and external affairs related to gas safety management. The piping information data uploaded to the CPMS is ranked the risk according to the criteria specified in the KGS Code, and the safety management of the piping has performed close inspection according to the risk ranking. However, the criteria for deriving the risk ranking is very simple and lacks relevant grounds, and the reliability for the determination of the close inspection pipeline is no high due to the redundant rank. Therefore, we developed a risk assessment program based on the Reliability Based Design Assessment(RBDA) methodology and tried to derive a reasonable risk ranking by linking it with the CPMS system.

A Study on the Roles and Efficient Operations of Urban Regeneration Support Center as Intermediary Organization - Focused on the Chungcheongbuk-do - (중간지원조직으로서 도시재생지원센터의 역할과 운영 방안 - 충청북도 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • Recently, there has been considerable talk about urban regeneration support centers that are currently promoting urban regeneration projects. The reason is that the role and authority are unclear, and the experience of each local government center is not accumulated, resulting in many trial and error and side effects. This study analyzed the current state of operations of urban regeneration support centers in Chungcheongbuk-do to find desirable ways to operate them in the future. The main findings are as follows. First, the role and division between metropolitan and basic centers and field centers of urban regeneration support centers in Chungcheongbuk-do are unclear. Second, the limitations of the center's operation methods, operational autonomy, and independence are not secured. Third, as a participant in urban regeneration, it has relatively low authority and status compared to administration. Fourth, the lack of professional manpower related to urban regeneration and the instability of staff employment were derived as overall problems.

On Low-Carbon Green Waterfront Cities (해외 저탄소 녹색수변도시)

  • Low-carbon green waterfront cities for overseas cases were reviewed to propose the direction for Korea. The implications suggested include energy saving by resource circulation, compact land use planning, transit oriented development, and utilization of renewable energy. These in turn suggest the following implementations; (1) Energy saving according to compact city, complex land use, and transit oriented development, (2) Renewable energy use in buildings and daily lives, (3) Expansion of green space for carbon mitigation and improved quality of life, and (4) Water and resource circulation system. We finally discussed that development of the green waterfront cities in Korea requires the fundamentals of low-carbon green waterfront cities achieved by overseas cases study and technical investigation.
