This study investigates the effect of urban and architectural forms on the microclimate in urban areas. It applies urban and architectural elements such as urban form and tissue and building form and characteristics as the main influences on the microclimate within urban area. Among the 23 Automated Weather Stations (AWS) installed within Seoul city by the Korea Meteorological Administration, 6 sites were selected for the analysis, based on their different urban and architectural characteristics, and actual measurements were conducted in August 2017 using individual AWS equipment. Also, the measurements of microclimate and urban and architectural elements within a 500m radius of the AWS measurement points were collected and analyzed. The result of the analysis shows that the microclimate elements, such as wind speed, solar radiation, and temperature, were affected by the direction of the streets, the width, depth, and height of the buildings, the topographic elevation and direction and the traffic volume. This study is expected to contribute to mitigating urban heat island effect and setting the foundation for sustainable cities through development of urban management methods and techniques including the relationship between built environment elements and microclimate.

도시는 어제와 오늘 또 내일이 공존하는 삶의 공간이다. 때문에 도시에는 고궁이나 옛 건축물이 있고, 화려하고 심플한 현대건축물도 있으며 미래지향적인 작품들도 있다. 이렇게 많은 요소와 함께 시간에 흐름을 한 공간에서 느낄 수 있는 곳이 바로 도시라고 할 수 있다. 그 동안 우리는 국가와 국가 간의 경쟁 속에서 살아왔다. 그러나 요즈음은 도시와 도시의 경쟁체계로 바뀌어 가고 있다. 즉, 한국에 경쟁상대는 대만이라든가 프랑스, 독일이라고 했다면 오늘날에는 서울과 동경이 경쟁 혹은 부산과 파리의 경쟁 등 좀 더 세부화 되어 가고 있는 것이다. 강력한 설정을 가지고 경쟁력을 높이고 있으며 부산, 광주, 인천, 대구 등 모든 도시가 각각에 특성을 강조하고 있다. 이런 도시계획에 있어서 경쟁력의 중심에 도시야간경관과 조명에 대한 중요성이 새롭게 인식되어가고 있다. 이제 도시는 주간 시간대와 함께 야간 시간대에 중요성을 강조하고 있으며 도시에 생명력은 조명에 역할이 상당부분 차지하게 된 것같다. 이런 시점에서 그러면 도시의 경관 또는 조명연출계획은 어떻게 구성, 혹은 구상되어야 하는지 알아보고 검토하는 것이 경쟁력 있는 도시를 만드는데 큰 도움이 되지 않을까 생각된다.

세계 유일 책을 위한 도시이자 생태·예술이 어우러진 파주출판도시를 통해 우리가 살고 있는 도시의 의미와 가치를 돌아보고 새로운 미래를 그리는 도시·건축 다큐멘터리가 4월 21일 개봉한다. 제46회 서울독립영화제, 제12회 서울국제건축영화제 공식 초청작이자 제12회 DMZ국제다큐멘터리영화제 예술공헌상을 수상한 영화 <위대한 계약: 파주, 책, 도시> 얘기다. 이 다큐를 만든 기린그림의 김종신·정다운 감독은 앞서 <한국 현대건축의 오늘(2016)>, <한국 현대건축의 오늘: 집(2017)>과 <이타미 준의 바다(2019)>를 통해 건축과 삶, 예술혼을 영상으로 복원해 내며 관객들의 눈길을 사로잡은 바 있다. <이타미 준의 바다>는 프리 프로덕션부터 개봉까지 꼬박 8년이 걸린 작품이다. 경기 파주시 문발동 소재 국가문화산업단지인 파주출판도시는 민주화 이전 출판이 탄압받던 시절부터 출판인들이 꿈꾸던 책을 위한 도시다. 출판사들과 더불어 새로운 철학과 가치를 담은 이상적 공간, 즉 새로운 도시를 그리던 건축사들이 '위대한 계약'을 체결하면서 실현됐다. 아무도 관심 갖지 않았던 파주의 늪지는 특색 있는 건축물과 만나 심학산과 한강의 탁월한 낙조 경관을 자랑하며 세계에서 유일한, 책을 위한 생태도시가 됐다. 편집·인쇄·유통 출판 관련 인프라를 집약한 도시는 이후 영화제작사를 비롯한 영상 관련 업체들과 IT 업체들이 입주하며 종합문화예술 도시로 탈바꿈한다. 2019년 파주출판도시 기획 30주년을 기념해 도시의 발자취를 담기 위해 시작된 영화는 과거와 현재라는 두 개의 큰 축에서 진행되며 찬란한 도시의 여정을 그린다. 그러면서 건축을 넘어 우리가 살고 있는 도시를 생각해 보게 만든다.

This study investigates how much building area among total building area concentrates on urban region in a local government region and then, I applies 'The Index of Building Concentration in Urban Area' for the first time in a study. The finding shows that Cities' Index is higher than counties', and also shows that a lower index is associated with a higher rate of older adult population, and is also associated with higher general budget expenditure by the local government based on the index of Building Concentration in Urban Area in Gyeongbuk Province. This study provides evidence that the Index of Building Concentration in Urban Area can be utilized in measuring shrinkage level, effectiveness of municipal finance, and in establishing shrinkage city/county planning by basic data.

Part of public arts, environmental sculpture not only enhance the beauty of a building, but also a landmark having intimate values with the city environment and symbolic meanings. 'Space storytelling' is not only a connecting bridge between the space and human, but also plays a role in promoting creation of story like a catalyst. Storytelling is expanding to many related industries and one of which is artistic structure, and the storytelling of residental space is getting widely applied to establish the competitive superiority. The purpose of this study involves logically examination the service deliver process of space storytelling based on the residential space. And this study expected to research the influencing factors about purchase and service delivery process of artistic structure.

The facade in the street is a unfixed type, thus it is not easy to investigate the characteristic of structures. In addition, a color mainly depends on sensitivity, therefore, it is very difficult to provide the solution of the problems. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between a form of the facade and a color, and to introduce the methodology and the direction of the color scheme for the facade in the street. for the purpose of this study, 47 facades are empirically analyzed. Based upon the results of research analysis, this study try to find out the relationship among the formative continuity of the facade in the street, a color, and the quality of the material. From the results, it suggests the new direction for the image formation of the facade in the street centering around a color. This study concludes that the characteristics of the facade in the street is discontinuous, and the color scheme is not based on the formative continuity. Moreover, the whole street is composed of each strong individual character. In order to harmonious creation of the facade in the street, primary colors and painting colors should be constrained. Finally, the color scheme based on the formative continuity of the facade in the street should be carefully considered.

Most data used for urban planning is aggregated by administrative district. Thus, a fundamental limit to analysing the changes of micro-geographical units exists. The object of this study is to estimate spatial development patterns based on characteristic city indicators. Gangnam, an area that was analysed, was divided into hexagon polygons. The development density and characteristic city indicators were input into each polygon. Moreover, this study analysed the influence of characteristic city indicators on development density using multinomial regression analysis. According to the results, distance between a polygon and both a road and a bus stop led to a decrease of development density in the polygon. However, distance between a polygon and a river led to an increase of development intensity. The method of this analysis and the results can be used to disaggregate the zonal data in the urban planing area.

Under the 'Sustainability Paradigm', the building maintenance system is getting more important because more efficient maintenance means more sustainable building. This paper aims at improving present building maintenance system by comparing with the foreign developed countries' systems. The comparing countries are selected according to the level of building maintenance. As the results, 4 countries including USA, England, Germany, and Japan become the benchmark. The results show that building maintenance regulations are various by social, economic, and cultural characteristics. In addition, though building maintenance policy must be established, first of all, the related regulations and policy targets are prepared before the enforcement of maintenance regulation. The results provide some policy implications: 1. Building maintenance must be controled under the condition that a building can guarantee the safety of people and function of it. 2. Building maintenance system should contribute to the desirable urban environment and architectural culture.

월간 <건축사> 4월 호의 표지를 장식한 '차이커뮤니케이션 사옥'은 강남구 학동대로 뒤쪽에 있는 광고 회사의 사옥이다. 이 건축물은 여백과 절제를 통해 단순하면서도 정갈한 입면을 구현해 내어, 새롭고 오래된 건축물이 혼재된 강남구에서 그 자체로 심플하면서도 힘 있게 자리한다. 제한적인 대지 규모에서, 개개인의 창의성을 중요시한 오픈형 사무공간에 도시와 자연을 동시에 담아내 다양한 외부공간을 접하게 한 차이커뮤니케이션 사옥을 설계한 박일훈 건축사(반 건축사사무소), 지난 3월 12일, 그를 만나 건축적 목표 등의 이야기를 직접 들어봤다.
