  • The Recommender systems help users to find and evaluate items of interest. Such systems have become powerful tools in the domains from electronic commerce to digital libraries and knowledge management. Sellers can recommend products to customers with the prediction of future buying behavior on the basis of the consumer's population statistics and past selling behavior. In this paper, we are describing the design and the development of personalization recommender system which increases satisfaction level of customers by searching products to reflect the pattern and propensity of customers properly. The suggested system supplies the real-time analysis service to predict the customers purchase situation by applying the association rule of the data mining.

  • In this study, in order to explore the contextual elements of book use that were overlooked in the existing book recommender system research, for 15 avid readers with various book search backgrounds, the contents generated in 6 book search situations were collected through the think-aloud protocol. By using content analysis from the collected book use contents, not only the internal and external appeal factors affecting book use, based on the 'appeal factor', the theoretical concept of the readers' advisory service, but also information sources and search methods regarding book use were identified and categorized. The results of this study can be used to extract and reflect meaningful attribute data in the future book recommender system design process.

  • This paper reports the results of the analysis on the access points of two bibliographic databases specialized in children's materials: "A" public library's online catalog and "N" children's novel database. The analysis particularly focused on the access points that lead users to discover their own needs and on the ways users search and navigate. The findings showed that the selected bibliographic systems supported many access points that were taken from the materials as well as from other relevant information sources and that browsing and navigating with hyperlinks supported the users' 'recognition' of information through 'interactivity' between the users and the systems, 'information encountering,' and 'serendipity.' The findings of this paper have implications for librarians and systems designers who want to develop user-friendly bibliographic systems that give access to children's materials.

  • This study attempted to explore the characteristics of knowledge communication and investigate important research topics and key authors by analyzing major academic papers in the field of LIS in Korea for five years from 2018 to 2022. The research method collected and analyzed papers published for five years in four key journals in the field of domestic Library and Information Science from the Korean Citation Index (KCI) database. The paper was selected to extract the author data of the paper and the data of the reference, and network visualization was performed by conducting literature co-citation analysis and author co-citation analysis using Netminer. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to derive a pair of co-citations between authors, and it was confirmed that it is important to include multiple authors in the intellectual structure analysis in the academic field through co-citation frequency analysis among researchers. The literature confirmed the correlation between the topics of the paper, and it was found that research related to Library and Information Science was centered on the topics of library, digital, user, service, and data.

  • In recent decades, research became more data-intensive in the fast-paced information environment. Researchers are facing new challenges in managing their research data due to the increasing volume of data-driven research and the policies of major funding agencies. Information professionals have begun to offer various data support services such as training, instruction, data curation, data management planning and data visualization. However, the emerging field of data librarians, including specific roles and competencies, has not been clearly established even though librarians are taking on new roles in data services. Therefore, there is a need to identify a set of competencies for data librarians in this growing field. The purpose of this study is to consider varying core competencies for data librarians. This exploratory study examines 95 online recruiting advertisements regarding data librarians posted between 2017 and 2021. This study finds core competencies for data librarians that include skills in technology, communication and interpersonal relationships, training/consulting, service, library management, metadata knowledge and knowledge of data curation. Specific core technology skills include knowledge of statistical software and computer programming. This study contributes to an understanding of core competencies for data librarians to help future information professionals prepare their competencies as data librarians and the instructors who develop and revise curriculum and course materials.

  • Local Arts Organization has performed various events in the provinces such as performances, exhibitions, competitions, and festivals, has been a place where local artists share information of arts, and has contributed greately to the development of art culture in the provinces for a long time. Records of Local Arts Organization are historical records showing the level and value of past and present local cultural arts, so systematic management and preservation is necessary. Also, since the records of Local Arts Organization are high in interest and demand of users, exhibition services are needed to show them effectively. Therefore, this study shows how to construct a Local Arts Organization based on CollectiveAccess, which is open software, to manage Local Arts Organization and provide exhibition services.

SNS is a social networking based services which is online forms from existed offline. SNS can also be used differently which is confused with the online community. A modelling algorithm is a variety of techniques, which are assocoation, clustering, neural networks, and decision trees, etc. By utilizing this technique, it is necessary to study to effectively using the large number of materials. In this paper, we evaluate in particular the performance of the algorithm based on the results of the clustering using Facebook Insights data for the EM algorithm to be evaluated as a good performance in clustering. Through this analysis it was based on the results of the application of the experimental data of the change and the South Australian state library according to the performance of the EM algorithm.

  • To understand the use of the ebooks among undergraduate students, a questionnaire was devised and collected data from 466 respondents. The level of ebook and its service awareness appears to be low, and only about 30% of the students have used ebooks in the past. Students access ebooks primarily through the library homepage. 73% of the users read 3 ebooks and below. The subject and area of reading is fairly spread, however literary works and genre fiction were most popular And the purpose is split into academic and private reading. Most of the users lack of knowledge about additional functions. Overall satisfaction level is low. Discomfort and ebooks illiteracy constitute the major reasons of nonuse, however about 88% of the nonusers show willingness to use in the future. According to the interview, active users are familiar with the screen reading as well as perceived advantages of ebooks. Nontheless, their satisfaction level is still low. Based on the results, recommendations for creating awareness, education, production development and service evaluation are suggested to promote the ebooks use.
