This study analyzes on the perception of public librarians about lifelong education tasks in public library using Mann Whitney U-test, Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient, Multiple regression analysis. At the same time, analysis about re-education needs using Analytic Hierarchy Process is conducted. As result, at first, 87% of respondents feel moderate or difficult about lifelong education tasks, especially on planning task. At second, librarians who have qualification about lifelong educator feel easier (P=0.04) than others, in detail, task about lecturer liaison (P=0.04) and planning (P=0.05). Adding that, the career experience and the job difficulty of librarians has negative relationship (R=-0.217). Especially scheduling (R=-0.33) and progressing (R=-0.22) tasks show statistically meaningful. At third, as the result of Multiple regression analysis, tasks about planning (P=0.04) and library marketing (P=0.05) are selected as meaningful elements which effect overall difficulty of life long education job. As final, 91% of librarian need retraining for life long education function, as result of spearman (R=-0.210), the more librarians feels difficult about life long education jobs, the more they need retraining. Anyway, as the result of priority of retraining subjects through AHP technique, user communication (CU P=0.310), planning (PL P=0.246), library marketing (LM P=0.173) are in weight order. CR ratio shows 0.146 with permissible degree.

교육과 연구의 현자인 대학에서 네트워크를 이용한 디지털 정보자원의 활용은 특정 전공에 국한되지 않고 필수적인 도구가 되어가고 있다. 이러한 정보원과 도구를 대학 환경에서 모든 구성원들이 적극적이고도 손쉽게 활용하는 것이 대학의 정보서비스 업무에 기본이 되어야 한다. 하지만 급속히 변화하는 정보 네트워크 서비스 현장에서 발생하는 문제점들은 대체로 육안으로 확인하기 어려운 것들이기 때문에 이용자들의 요구사항을 정기적으로 조사·분석하여 이용자 측면에서 교내의 정보시스템을 평가·감사하는 것은 시스템을 성공적으로 운영하는데 있어서 필수적인 활동이다. 본 연구에서는 S 대학의 사례를 통하여 구성원들이 가지고 있고 또 필요로 하는 정보자원을 효과적으로 이용할 수 있도록 하는 최선의 방법을 조사 연구하여 문제 해결 방안을 제시하고자 하였다.

Recently, subject specialized service has been suggested as a solution to overcome a difficulty of library management and to meet the quickly changing needs of library users. Introduction of subject specialized service is raised to be introduced to special libraries and efficient management system is required. However, systematic study on the subject specialized service is very rare. This study investigates and analyzes how subject specialized service is operated in korean special libraries and how subject specialist librarians recognize them. In order to analyzes and investigate, 8 special libraries was selected to survey general management of subject specialized service, recruitment and training issues of subject specialist librarian, their duties and overall evaluation and problem of subject specialized service. Finally the study attempts to suggest development strategies in order to improve subject specialized service in special libraries.

The study goals are establishing a library management plan for the school for the blind in Korea and also developing a structured library program, which reflected the patron's perception. We surveyed the students in three schools for the blind to identify their perception and usage statistics of the libraries. The analysis of the survey led to a school library program framework consisting of four types. To verify the applicability and effectiveness of the framework, we designed ten programs to meet the needs of the schools by consulting respective school's teachers. We administered the second survey after the classes, and we found that there were positive increases in the frequency of library use, a number of books read, perception about the libraries, amount of information used, and self-directed learning willingness.

According to the changing of information environment and user's need, discussion of changing role is increasing gradually in the library, in consequence, interests about the concept of Information Commons, which are integrated IT, education, learning, and cultural functions, are becoming larger. However, in order to adopt the Information Commons in the University library, the model about the consideration and application of basic element is essential. So that, the purpose of this study is to suggest the ways which are adopting the elements and process of the applying Information Commons. In addition, based on Information Commons of Arizona university Library & Indiana University Library which is well organized with model, researcher tried to attempt the virtual renovation to the 'S 'University library'. Through presenting the applicable model of Information Commons, it aims to provide the example of discussion with actively about Information Commons.

The purpose of this study is to have the development of special libraries in Korea and produce policy alternatives and current implications as well as to analyze the management evaluation of Korea special libraries in 2011. The evaluation of 39 detailed index scored at 51.8 out of 100. There were five evaluation territory. Among them, the facility environment's score was the highest as 77.3 and manpower was 53.5, library management were 51.0. The information resource and service territory were analyzed under 50 as scored 49.3 and 45.4. Closely look at the detailed index, the highest index was 'user amenity' (96.7) from facility environment and the lowest index was 'participation record of the long-term educational training of library staff' (13.0). This study diagnosed current management of libraries and problem as well as to analyze the result of administration evaluations of special libraries in nation throughout 2012. The institution type of special libraries in Korea is very varied such as central administrative agency, government-funded research institute, local government, and education office in local-affiliated institute, business, private organization, hospital, the press and so on; therefore, the analysis result can be utilize for basic information to provide future special libraries type in order to make differentiated policy making.

The increased interest in consumer health information(CHI) has brought about a rapid increase in CHI resources. There are diverse means for obtaining such information, and one CHI acquisition route is the public library. In the U.S. public libraries, the demand for CHI reference services is increasing, and a variety of projects to promote these services are in progress. On the other hand, Korean public library services for CHI is at a very basic level, and thus a very small amount of such research could be found. This study drew suggestions from a literature review of research studies in the U.S. and Canada, and analyzed public library CHI services in Korea. The findings are as follows. 1) Only 17.25% of public libraries in Korea provided CHI service, and it evidences very low needs and awareness for CHI services in Korea. 2) Only three kinds of services including CHI-related websites, users training, and promotional and marketing were provided, and only 13(1.74%) of libraries surveyed offered more than two kinds of services. 3) There were no CHI librarians, nor did any librarians receive CHI-related education. 4) ILL services, outreach services, and cooperation with CHI- and medical-related institutions for CHI services were not found. Therefore, this study suggests that more research on delivery strategies for CHI services should be conducted in the future.

The purpose of this study is to identify users behavioral characteristics for using the online catalog opened in May 1996 at Duksung Women's University Library. 278 student users were surveyed from October 4th to 8th in 1996. Major findings are as follows. 1. Most users$(87.4\%)$ prefer the online catalog to the card catalog and regard the online catalog easy to use$(89.6\%)$ 2. $(65.8\%)$ of users are active users who frequently use the online catalog at least 10 times or more per semester. 3. $10.4\%$ of users feel the online catalog difficult because they do not know how to use it. 4. Most users prefer the menu search mode among menu, command and fill-in-blank search modes offered by DISCOVER. The most preferred access points are the title for known-item search and subject headings for subject search. 5. User's attitude toward the online catalog is very favorable$(83.5\%)$, however, the search success rate is rather low $(77.0\%)$ compared to that of the card catalog $(87.0\%)$ 6. The title and author are regarded easy to use among access points offered by DISCOVER. Classification numbers and call numbers are the least easy access points to use. 7. Since users show lack of knowledge of how to use the online catalog, education and training programs on the online catalog use for users are needed. 8. Users showed different search patterns for pursuing different search goals. The most preferred access points are the title for known-item search and subject headings for subject search. These search behaviors are different from those in using the card for both the known-item search and subject search was the title.

This study aims to suggest the ways to reinforce academic library's supports for users' class·learning activities. For this purpose, this study collected the development plans of academic libraries in Korea, and analysed the plans for supporting class·learning activities. As a result, it is shown that the most libraries emphasized 'expansion of learning material' and marked it on development plan. As subsequent plans, libraries provided the action plans of 'expansion of reading education and reading programs', 'expansion of electronic materials', 'expansion of characterized materials' one after another. This study suggests 'user-centered collection development and expansion of learning materials', 'activation of library services making use of big data', 'enlargement of engagement services for handicapped and foreign students' as ways to strengthen the services of academic libraries to support class·learning activities of users.

This study focuses on how to introduce the concept of Information Commons(IC) into school libraries in order to help them Perform their roles required to satisfy new types of their users' demands. It intends to examine the concept of IC to draw the IC elements applicable to school libraries and propose a feasible model for them. The main objects of this study are school libraries and Information Commons. In particular, this study brings the derivation of IC elements and the construction of an IC model for school libraries into focus. This study sorted the three factors by peculiarities of school libraries. Each classification is as follows: physical elements were divided into learning space, creation space, community space, and service counters; human resources were divided into teacher-librarian. IT engineers, and student assistants; and services were divided into information literacy training and integrated, collaborative services. Based upon the derived IC constituents, it proposed a diagram that outlines the IC services concept for school libraries, an IC model and an IC floor plan for them.
