The data were collected by survey and interview method conducted with 111 library users in 6 local research institute using modified questionnaires based on LibQUAL+. The results revealed that human quality factor had more influence on library service satisfaction than space and information quality factor. Also, there were statistically significant influence between library service satisfaction and three sub service factors, such as service attitude, space convenience, and information usability. The interviewers indicated problems of special library service in lack of data, inactivation of digital data, space problem, data sharing problem, and lack of experts. Finally this study proposed several suggestions to improve service quality of special library of local autonomous entity research institution.

In this regard, this study analyzed the spatial accessibility of public libraries in Busan and identified the factors affecting accessibility of public libraries using spatial regression analysis. As a results of the analysis, the accessibility of public libraries in the Busan showed large deviations by region. Also, spatial distribution of public libraries had no correlation with the settled population and use of public transportation, and location of public libraries was inefficient, in terms of social equity. The results of this study will assist to understand the spatial accessibility of public libraries in Busan, to identify factors that affect the accessibility. Moreover, this study is expected to be utilized as fundamental data for releasing disparities of the spatial accessibility and selecting new location of public library in Busan.

  • Although it is about a decade since public libraries started to provide digital information services, lack of expertise for efficient service operation and restrictions related to copyrights have led to failure to obtain remarkable performances in uses. This study intends to analyze operation cases of domestic and overseas collaborative digital information services, as well as the current status of digital information services of libraries in Gyeonggido, thereby developing a collaborative digital information service model among public libraries on the level of local governments. This research then analyzed collaborative digital information service Web sites and surveys. Based on the analysis result, this study presented support of integrated search of possessed electronic information, Web database (DB), DB on original texts of regional records, online reference services, and mobile platforms as functional factors to embody a successful service model. As a system management road map, an eclectic model combining the merits of centralized and decentralized models was found to be more effective than a centralized or decentralized model in consideration of the characteristics of participating organizations.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic data for providing library information services of high quality with clients, by designing the model of MyCyberLibrary and evaluating it. The model of MyCyberLibrary was constructed based on the survey results on the information-seeking behavior of users and on the review of the existing mylibraries'functions. The model is implemented into the prototype system which consists of nine modules. Finally, we evaluated the proposed system via mail questionnaires, and proposed three suggestions to make this system a much more comprehensive and effective one.
