This research analyzed how the main requisites of faceted navigation as names of facets, subterms of facets, order of facets, too many results were user-centric. On the research method, this research analyzed the results of the three keywords retrieved in the 15 university libraries' catalogs and how was user's familiarity to the terms. Although domestic universities have serviced facet navigation, the names of the facet of publication date and series title in format and the terms under the facets as multimedia and nonbook material, media material are too difficult intuitively to understand and there were lots of formal terms used in cataloging rules and the terms librarians have usually used. Because of the terms, there is high possibility to deteriorate users' satisfaction and usability to library catalog in future. Even though they serviced facet navigation, there was also weakness as too many results and the university libraries need to use relevance ranking method to solve the weakness. This research has found the possibility of being used too many of levels of the facets and this may also badly affect the users' experience to library catalog.

Today, the central government and an autonomies make an attempt to contracting out, restructuring, and renaming for public libraries in Korea. These attempts are plot for a disorganization of public libraries. The purpose of this study is to analyze an entity of the plot and to extricate from the disorganization crisis. Based of the analysis, the best alternatives to extricate the crisis are reinforcing the basis of popular support, establishing the identity for public library, finding out opposing logic, taking a legal actions, pressing for a formation of local committee of library development, and overthrowing the confusion of library administrative system.

The evolution in information and communication technologies and the changing role in information and library systems are raised to force significan changes in Korea. A number of library schools started new subject in their curriculm and revised their present curriculum. As a result the rationale for the revision and contents of new subject is provided from 1970 decade. With long-ranging effect on the library profession we. in Korea, should review for our curricular implications. The information System Department in California state university and FIABID curriculum in Germany are proposed to consider in undergoing transformation in information and library science.

The goal of this study is to propose the plan for strengthening organizational competences related to the collection development function of the national library. For this goal, author analyzed and compared the organizational characteristics of departments for legal deposit in national libraries of nine developed countries, derived the limitations and weaknesses of legal tasks, policy documents, and collection development tasks by organizational units of the National library of Korea. Based on these results, author suggested the centralization of collection policy and legal deposit function, th name change and total restructuring of collection acquisition division, and its manpower reinforcement, etc.

It was examined that library-related ordinances enacted by local governments in nationwide were all 321 cases. Among them, the library management ordinance(185 cases, 57.6%) is the most common, small library ordinance(54 cases, 16.8%), Saemaeul mobile library ordinance(24 cases, 7.5%), reading promotion ordinance(29 cases, 9.0%), other ordinances(29 cases, 9.0%), such as the order was followed. Since 1996, the local government system was carried out in earnest, library ordinances each year continues to increase. Saemaeul mobile library ordinances was enacted primarily in the 1990s, small library ordinances and reading promotion ordinances have been increasing rapidly since 2009. In order to clarify the purpose of the ordinances, the term 'library' should be included in the title. It is suggested that the library-related ordinances in a local government, such as public library ordinance, small library ordinance, Saemaeul mobile library ordinance, and reading promotion ordinance, are better be integrated for consistent implementations of library policies.

The employment prospects of graduates in the Library and Information academic has largely concentrated in the field of librarianship as well as the curriculum of the academic itself. Since there are limitations in increasing the number of libraries and the available posts in the librarianship, the full-time jobs in the field are also limited. Even for the available posts in the field of librarianship, the majority is in contract based posts which does not guarantee a good working environment. The purpose of this research is to make policy implications to improve the employment rates of librarians. The main research methods include literature review of the previous studies and available statistical data, and a questionnaire targeting students and librarians. The targeting policy implications can be categorized into 4 factors, including, as supply side, improvements in the qualification of librarian certificate, in training for librarians, and as demand side, laws on library employment, and improvement of library services for co-operatives. There are 15 detailed strategies to support the 4 factors. For the improvement of strategies in library related laws, the following elements will be considered; supporting system for temporary jobs, the title of librarian post and the library itself, and librarian placement criteria in terms of its realization and mandatory, and obligations in library evaluation. The Council discussions propose the expansion of librarian award system, provision of information systems for librarian jobs, and developments in promotional materials and their deployment for librarians.

Using the data shown in the national library statistics system, we tried to identify the current situation from various angles and derive problems, and based on this, we tried to find a development plan. First, it is necessary to conduct a thorough survey to know the statistics of Special library. Second, some degree of unification of the names used in Special libraries should be achieved. Third, it is necessary to present the subject classification for Special libraries. Fourth, it is necessary to actively promote and incentive Special libraries to participate in statistical surveys. Fifth, it is necessary to solve the problem that Special libraries are classified into other statistics. Sixth, statistics of national and large Special libraries such as the Court Library, Constitutional Court Library, and Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information cannot be found anywhere. Unless these problems are solved, the overall evaluation of Special libraries and policy proposals at the national level will be meaningless.

The aim of this study is to compare and analyse the evaluation or performance indicators for academic libraries suggested at domestic and foreign. For the study, evaluation indicators of the various evaluation models(IFLA, ISO, ALA/ACRL, LA, HEFCE, CERLIM, JUAA, UNICOOP. KLA) was analysized. Evaluation or performance indicators should shed light on inputs and outputs of resource, levels of demand and satisfaction, the library effectiveness, and operating efficiency. There is a great deal of work going on at present, but as yet there is no greed set of indicators that can be across all academic libraries. Therefore, new evaluation indicators for physical and electronic libraries should be developed.

In this study, by extracting all relevant types of libraries in the medical field and analyzing their concepts, the research was to clearly define the names and concepts of libraries related to the medical field being mixed and used, to identify types of library, and to draw related legal improvements. The results of the study are as follows: First, the concepts of libraries in the medical field were organized and the types and relationships between libraries in the medical field were summarized. Second, criteria for currently absent hospital libraries are presented based on domestic and overseas research and standards. Third, In order to revitalize libraries related to medical fields in the future, it is necessary to investigate the actual conditions of libraries related to medical fields. Also, It proposed that public hospitals above the hospital level be made mandatory to set up hospital libraries first through national policy and expand services for patients and careers.
