The purpose of this study is to examine and propose to improve the features of a simple keyword search box and faceted navigations of KOLIS-NET operated by the National Library of Korea. A record group of '2011-2020 (776)' under 'Publication date' facet, out of 3,702 records retrieved from a search of '김훈', were examined. Major findings are as follows: (1) Five facets including 'Format', 'Publication date', 'Subject', 'Language' and 'Country' are used to limit search results only in the first step, and multiple facets cannot be simultaneously used; (2) With 'Publication date' facet formed in the span of ten years, a separate publication year cannot be identified; (3) 'Subject' facet based on KDC limits the results only in broad subject classes without sub-facets; (4) Under 'Format' facet, a special format such as large print texts cannot be identified; (5) Without 'Author' facet, authors cannot be identified; and (6) 'Publication date missing', 'Language missing', and 'Miscellaneous subject' record groups cannot be clicked and displayed, a navigation to-and-fro between a brief list and bibliographic records is not smooth, etc. Therefore an application of multiple facets in all stages of limiting the search result, a construction of sub-facets for 'Publication date' and 'Subject' facets, an accurate description and coding of 'General Material Designation', etc. are suggested to improve KOLIS-NET's faceted navigation.

The purpose of this research is to provide suggestions to develop a cooperative preservation and utilization program suitable for domestic circumstances. To accomplish the purpose of this research, an in-depth study was conducted parallel to surveys and focus group interviews. The study found that a high number of KESLI members recognizes the necessity of the cooperative preservation and utilization of print journals. The study also provides suggestions for the successful development and operation of the cooperative preservation center for print journals-the development of councils, the ownership of journals, the scope of journals to be collected, and the form of the national preservation center. The results of the study will be utilized as the model for the cooperative preservation and utilization of print journals suitable for Korean circumstances.

The purpose of this study is to develop an empathy reading education program and to investigate the effects of elementary school students on empathy ability and emotional intelligence. First, in order to select realistic empathy topics for the empathy reading education program, 10 specialist groups were selected and the focus group interview was conducted as well. 10 expert in the development of the empathy reading education program and 12 experts for selecting the importance of the empathy reading education textbook verified the reliability and validity through Delphi investigation and analysis. Second, in order to verify the effects, the empathy reading education program was studied and conducted on 104 grade 5 students in 'A' elementary school in U city, Gyeonggi-do. In conclusion, the empathy reading education program has a positive effect on the empathy ability and emotional intelligence of elementary school students.

Recognizing the need for the nation-wide reading initiative to promote reading activities of the whole nation, this study was conducted to provide the foundation for planning the National Year of Reading in Korea. It reviewed the details on the administration, budget, cooperation, promotion, program and implementation strategy of the National Year of Reading in the U. K., Japan, and Australia. To investigate the nation's perception of reading and the nation-wide reading initiative, a focus group interview with 13 professionals in reading and a survey partaken by 719 citizens were conducted. This study provides the foundation for establishing the implementation strategy for the National Year of Reading by examining people's perception and the specific requirements for implementing the initiative.

This study aimed to validate the effect of newborn care education program to parenting confidence, knowledge and self-efficacy using systematic review and meta-analysis. Literature search was used, Library of Congress, KERIS, KISS, domestic Journal, and until 2016, a total of 11 articles were used for meta-analysis to convergence this kind of results. As the result of the meta-analysis, there was no statistically significant difference in the overall effect of parenting confidence on the neonatal care education program, but there was a statistically significant difference in the sub-group analysis. The overall effect of knowledge and self-efficacy was statistically significant. Based on the results of this study, it will be helpful to understand the newborn care education program and the basis for the effect of education. The research that measures the related variables should be repeated and generalization should be planned in the future research.

Since the curriculum of the department of library and information science for nurturing librarians and teacher-librarians is not standardized and the education scope and content of subjects for each exam to recruit librarians and teacher-librarians is also not standardized, the objectivity and credibility required for national exam are not guaranteed. This study is for developing a standard curriculum as one of the solutions regarding the foregoing problem. To achieve the goal of this study, first of all, the requirements for librarians and teacher-librarians and a national exam related to Teacher Certification Examination, regulation, and implementation rules were reviewed. Secondly, the justification of the suggested subjects through analyzing prior studies for developing a curriculum for library and information science was reviewed. Thirdly, the subjects resulted from the two foregoing methods were confirmed as a standard curriculum for library and information science through a focus group discussion among practicing librarians.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of internet addiction prevention program on adolescents' self-regulation using systematic review and meta-analysis. Databases od domestic literature were used, Library of Congress, KERIS, KISS, domestic Journal, until 2018, eleven articles were used for meta-analysis. As a result of the study, there was statistically significant difference in the overall effect of self-regulation on the internet addiction prevention program, but the heterogeneity was high and subgroup analysis was conducted. The effects of self-regulation on the Internet addiction prevention program according to subjects were statistically significant in both elementary and middle & high school students. The effect size of self-regulation by internet addiction was statistically significant..Therefore, it's necessary to develop an Internet addiction prevention program according to the characteristics of elementary and middle & high school students.

This paper consists of two parts: In the first part, we describe our work to build hierarchical knowledge base of digital library patron's research interests and learning topics in various scholarly areas through analyzing well classified Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) of NDLTD Union catalog. Journal articles from ACM Transactions and conference web sites of computing areas also are added in the analysis to specialize computing fields. This hierarchical knowledge base would be a useful tool for many social computing and information service applications, such as personalization, recommender system, text mining, technology opportunity mining, information visualization, and so on. In the second part, we compare four grouping algorithms to select best one for our data mining researches by testing each one with the hierarchical knowledge base we described in the first part. From these two studies, we intent to show traditional verification methods for social community miming researches, based on interviewing and answering questionnaires, which are expensive, slow, and privacy threatening, can be replaced with systematic, consistent, fast, and privacy protecting methods by using our suggested hierarchical knowledge base.

The importance of data publishing in the open-science era is increasing as it can contribute to other scientific discoveries by accelerating the sharing of research data, improving accessibility and citability, and providing standardized technical documentation for research data. In addition, the need for data papers is emerging as a way for data papers to maintain a status equivalent to research papers, and the publication of data journals is on the rise as a new type of scholarly publishing. In particular, the field of Ecology is a field where large-scale research data are produced and managed, thus the data journal publishing in this field is active worldwide. On the other hand, the research on data journal is in its early stages in Korea, and there is no data journal in the field of Ecology. Thus, this study explores and presents strategies for publishing data journals in the ecological field. First, we investigate the publishing status of domestic and international data journals and the publication status of domestic journals. Then, we conducted a focused group interview with experts of scholarly publishing, open access policy and journal publishing in the field of Ecology. Finally, based on the survey and the expert FGI's results, strategies are suggested in terms of publishing data journals in the field of ecology, organizing and publishing journals, organizing journal editors, and receiving manuscripts.

This study analyzed the usage characteristics and requirements of students who are users of the middle school education space, and the following results were obtained: First, we could see that various types of classes were needed, such as lecture-style classes, team projects, and four-person consultation and discussion classes, in a way that helped to improve the desirable teaching patterns and learning ability. Second, the place where space was used during the break and the relationship between peers, revealed that most of them were in the classroom and the hallway, and the peer group was composed of three to eight people or more, that were active with various compositions. Third, a gym, library, toilet, stairway, cafeteria, nurse's office, and teachers' room appeared in the center of the building, indicating the need for a balanced layout. Fourth, physical education (dance) rooms, audiovisual rooms (performance rooms), workshops (personal creation), snack bar, rest area, spacious indoor square, and study rooms were needed as facilities that can help learning activities other than current facilities. These outcomes show that the existing classroom layout and space composition formats require some spatial restructuring.
