도서관은 전통적으로 지식과 정보자료를 수집하여 보존하는 기능을 담당해 왔다. 그러나 현대 후기산업사회에 적응하기 위해서는 이러한 전통적 기능 외에 과학기술정보의 신속한 공급은 물론, 개인의 지적 활동과 문화향수 및 여가선용의 극대화를 도모하고, 특히 지역사회 주민들의 문화복지를 증진시키기 위해 도서관 프로그램을 적극적으로 활용토록 자극하는 사회문화적 역할이 더욱 강조돼야 한다. 공공도서관 업무의 문화부이관을 골자로 하는 '도서진흥법'의 시행으로 이제까지와는 전혀 다른 질적 변화의 계기를 맞고 있는 우리 도서관은, 과연 이같은 역할과 과제의 수행을 위해 어떤 노력들을 기울여야 할 것인가. 지난 도서관주간에 열렸던 학술대회에서의 논의를 정리한다.

이 연구는 대학도서관 사서에게 어떠한 지적 기반을 요구하고 있는가에 대한 물음에서 시작되었다. 현 문헌정보학 교과과정이 대학도서관에 필요한 사서를 양성하는데 적합한지 현장 사서들의 의견을 들어보았다. 특히, 시대가 요구하는 대학도서관 사서들이 갖추어야 하는 능력이 무엇인지 지식, 기술, 태도의 측면으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 대학도서관이 요구하는 사서를 양성하기 위해서 문헌정보학 교과과정은 어떻게 변화되어야 하는지 논의해보았다.

In Korea, public libraries lack the adequate services for the visually disabled, and therefore the visually disabled rarely use public libraries. This study aims to secure the information accessibility and usage rights for the visually disabled, and to suggest solutions in order to vitalize their use of public libraries. For this aim, the researcher investigated the reasons why the visually disabled did not use public libraries, extracted the correlations between their awareness of public library services and their actual use, and then tried to propose how to secure their right to use libraries and access to information and knowledge and improve their use of public libraries.

As small-scale libraries such as Children Library, Small Library, Miracle Library, have recently increased in number, it is required to establish the library consulting system in order to provide them with special knowledges and experiences necessary for library construction and operation. The result of the survey about public librarian's opinions confirms that the latent demand for library consulting is very high. In case of our country where the social experience in library consulting service is insufficient, it is desirable that the library consulting service be executed by the government offices as public service.

This study suggests a fundamental contents role model for multimedia school library. For the purpose of the objective, this study, at first, overviews currents situation of school libraries in Korea, and analyzes three multimedia school libraries of the United States and three school libraries' homepage of Korea to compare the contents of information services.

The school library media specialist is the information manager of school library as well as the teacher who take charge of a study. The basic knowledge of copyright law is needed to supply lawful and safe information service to students and teaching staffs in school. In order for the school library media specialist to have a copyright knowledge, the actual proof research to analyze the copyright recognition degree of school library media specialist is necessary, The survey study measured the recognition degree against copyright of school library media specialists who participate to 2006 school library media specialist 1 class qualification annual study and training process. As a result of the question analysis, the research suggested concretely Improved plans to raise the copyright recognition of school library media specialist.

MIRAGE는 XML을 기반으로 하는 가상문서라는 개념을 도입하여 인터넷 상의 정보 공유를 가능하게 하여 새로운 지식을 생성할 수 있도록 한 디지털도서관 시스템이다. OAI는 컨텐츠에 대한 메타데이터를 이용해서 디지털도서관 안에 있는 정보를 상호이용하기 위한 프로토콜이다. 본 논문에서는 MIRAGE에 OAI 지원 기능을 첨가하여 MIRAGE 시스템에 의해 만들어진 가상문서에 대한 메타데이터를 제공하는 data provider를 구현하여 다른 디지털도서관과 더불어 정보를 상호이용할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 원문에 대한 접근을 원하는 사용자를 위해서 메타데이터의 원문에 직접 접근할 수 있도록 하였다.

지식기반사회와 정보홍수시대로 갈수록, 도서관의 존속여부에 대한 고민으로 도서관경영의 중요성은 심화되며, 관련 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 동시출현단어 분석을 통해 도서관경영 분야의 지적구조를 분석하였다. 데이터 수집은 2001~2013년도까지 한국연구재단에 등재된 5개의 문헌정보학 관련 학회지를 대상으로 하였으며, 해당 논문 수는 413건이다. 데이터 처리후 군집분석을 실시하여 9개의 군집을 형성하였으며, 해당 군집은 장서개발, 디지털도서관, 공공도서관, 마케팅 및 조직관리, 국립중앙도서관 및 작은도서관, 인사관리(직무/자격제도), 대학도서관, 학교도서관, 서비스 품질평가이다. 이러한 연구 결과는 기존의 도서관경영 분야의 주제영역과 비교하였다.
