A Methodology for Standard Establishment of Spatial Impact Zone according to Place Names of Road Sign in Urban Regions - Using the Road Sign Management System Database - (도시부 도로표지 안내지명에 따른 공간적 영향권 기준 설정방법에 관한 연구 - 도로표지관리시스템 데이터베이스를 활용하여 -)

  • Place names of road sign mean various place names being used on road signs for path guidance of drivers such as administrative district, facility, road, etc. It is very important that not only the choice method of place names for connectivity of road signs but standard establishment of spatial impact zone according to place names. However this standard are not established currently, so it is difficult to fix the spatial range for changing place names around the main facility according to the new construction or relocation of main facility in urban region. Considering the use of big data, one of the Government 3.0, we need to utilize actively the road sign management system database. This paper suggested a methodology for standard establishment of spatial impact zone according to place names of road sign in urban regions based on the road sign management system database. To perform a case study, we selected a major facility ("City Hall") which is the most frequently used the place name of road signs and presented standard of spatial impact zone by urban size in 84 cities.

Relationship between noise and air pollution levels in Residential areas: comparison between roadside and non-roadside sites (소음과 대기오염도의 연계성에 대한 연구 - 일반주거지역의 도로 및 비도로지역의 비교)

  • In this study, we analyzed the relationship between noise and air pollution from 6 residential sites from 6 districts in Seoul. The survey of all noise date obtained from 6 sites were also compared between road and nonroad area and between active (06:00-22:00) and inactive time bands (22:00-06:00). Comparison of the data between two time bands indicates that their differences are not large enough. On the other hand, if comparison of data is made by correlation analysis for road and non-road areas, strong correlations between noise levels and air pollution tend to be prevalent consistently in road area relative to the non-road area. In contrast, a correlation between noise levels and air pollution tends to decrease at the road area in inactive period relative to active period.

  • Computerized map reading system is one of the most important application areas in the image processing.A map databaes can be used for a wide range of scial activities such as narural resource assessment,regional plan-ming,and reaffic nabigation system. The road segments,however,are extracted as briken in the area where they are overlapped and interupted by chracters and symbols.Few approaches have been taken to complete road segnents interupted by map symbols.In this paper,a movel approach for the extracation and completion of road segements interupted by map symbols is proposed using neural networks.The system is applied to 1/25,000 scaled maps published by the Grographical Survey Unstitute of Ministry of Construction of Korea.It will be shown that the system can extract and reconstruct road segmetns for the various areas of maps sucessfully.

Analysis of the Cause of Defects in Asphalt Pavement Using Steel Slag as Auxiliary Base Material (보조기층재로 제강슬래그가 사용된 아스팔트 포장면 불량 원인 분석)

  • This research has focused on identifying a significant cause of the pavement cracks and irregularities of roads in Changwon city which have been constructed using steel slag, an auxiliary-based material. It is important to note that the cracks and irregularities yield logistics inconvenience, the risk of traffic accidents, and increased road maintenance costs. X-ray diffraction analysis tests have been conducted in this study on the sample collected by pavement cutting and excavating the three target roads. It is well known that the primary cause of the expansion of steelmaking slag is the hydration reaction between CaO and MaO. While the reaction of CaO is completed within a few months, that of MgO is pretty slow depending on the firing temperature. The test results reveal that the MgO content of the testing samples is approximately 47% of the total average, and that of CaO is around 14% of the total average. Hence, these results make it possible to be understood that the expansion induced by the slow hydration reaction of MgO results in road uplift in the long term, resulting in the cracks and irregularities of roads.

  • Many human, roadway, and vehicle factors affect vehicle-pedestrian crashes. Especially, the roadway factors are easily defined and suitable for suggesting countermeasures. The characteristics of the road network are one of the roadway factors. The road network significantly influences behaviors and conflicts of drivers and pedestrians. A metropolitan city such as Seoul contains various types of road networks, and crash prevention strategy considering characteristics of the road network is required. In this study, we analyze the effects of road networks on vehicle-pedestrian crashes. In the study, high order road ratio, intersection ratio, high-low intersection ratio are considered as road network variables. Using Geographically Weighted Poisson Regression, crash frequencies in Dongs of Seoul are analyzed based on the road network variable as well as socioeconomic variables. As a result, Dongs are grouped by coefficient signs, and each group is suggested about improvement directions considering conflict situations.

A Study on the Travel Characteristics of Administrative Unit by Factor and Cluster Analysis: Focused on Incheon Metropolitan City (요인 및 군집분석을 이용한 기초 행정단위별 통행특성 분석: 인천광역시를 중심으로)

  • In this study, factor and cluster analysis are used to classify characteristics of the administrative basic unit, "Dong", of the Incheon Metropolitan City. Travel characteristics of the classified groups are then analyzed through databases to provide directions of urban transportation planning. First, industrially developed administrative-dong show a high commuting volume by using cars. Thus the analysis indicated the need to staggering work-hour system and signal operating system policy. Second, commercially developed administrative-dong show heavy use of public transportation and long distance commute as well as high volume of shoppers. The analysis indicated the need to improve road infrastructure. Third, densely populated administrative-dong show a high rate of commute to work and school as well as long hours of commuting. Thus the analysis indicated the need to improve road transportation policies during rush hours. Fourth, administrative-dong with multiple characteristics feature heavy pedestrian traffic thus the study analyzed the need to improve pedestrian environment policies. Lastly, administrative-dong in close proximity to train stations feature extensive use of biking as well as high volume of shoppers and students commuting. Thus the study analyzed the necessity to have plans to enhance accessibility.

수도권 도로 교통 표지판의 인지 공학적 평가 분석

  • 운전자의 인지 능력을 충분히 고려하지 않은 도로 교통 표지판은 운전 상황에서 순간적인 의사 결정을 어력베 하여 교통사고의 가능성을 증가 시킬 수 있으므로 이에 대한 개선책이 시급하다 하겠다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 수도권 도로 교통 표지판의 인지적 문제를 설문 조사와 현장 조사를 통하여 구체적으로 분 석하고 이에따른 개선안을 제시하였다. 이를 위해, 서울 시내의 사고 다발 지역을 중심으로 교차로 표지 판의 인지공학적 결함을 면밀히 분석하였고, 1997년 표지판 개정안의 설계 원칙에 대한 인지적 문제점을 도출하였다. 그 중, 교차로의 방향 표지, 방향 유도 표지에 나타난 정보 처리 과정의 문제점 및 노면 표지 의 설계가 운전자의 인지적 혼돈을 유발시킬 수 있다는 가정하에 이에 대한 모의 실험을 실시 하였다. 24명 의 피설험자를 대상으로, 개선된 표지판과 현 표지판을 모의 운전 상황에 따라 간헐적으로 컴퓨터 화면을 통해 관측하게 한 후 인지된 내용의 정확도와 반응 시간을 비교하여 분석하였다. 그 결과에 따라 기존 노면 표지의 형태를 개선하고, 방향 예고 표지판과 방향 표지판의 인지적 구별을 명확하게 하는 것이 운전자에게는 정확하고 신속한 의사 결정을 하게 한다는 것을 발견 하고 이에 대한 원칙을 제시하였다. 결론적으로 표지판의 설계와 설치에 있어 행정적인 지원과 인지적인 요인에 대한 고려가 된다면 표지판의 오독으로 인한 교통 사고를 줄여 나가는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

  • 우리나라에서는 1995년부터 국가지리정보체계(NGIS)구축 기본계획을 수립하여 건설교통부, 정보통신부, 과학기술부 및 행정자치부 등 범국가적으로 2000년까지 제 1단계 사업을 마쳤으며, 2001년부터 제 2단계 사업을 추진 중에 있다. 하지만 국가지형 및 시설물 등이 하루가 다르게 변화하는 정보화 사회에서 다양한 객체에 대한 위치 및 속성정보의 획득, 저장, 관리, 활용을 위한 신속한 수치지도 수정갱신이 요구된다. 또한 도로시설물을 비롯한 다양한 지형지물정보는 공간정보를 다루는 도시, 교통, 물류, 환경 및 군사 분야 등 다양한 분야에서 의사결정 및 계획에 필수적으로 요구되는 정보이고 이와 같은 정보는 신속하고 정확하게 취득되어야 하며, 경제적이며, 효율적으로 정보를 획득하는 신기술을 적용한 작업방법론이 필요하다. 현재 국내에서도 신기술인 "차량탑재 모바일매핑 시스템(Mobile Mapping System : GPS-Van) 개발이 완료되었고, 이를 활용한 각종 지형공간정보의 수정 갱신 작업이 이루어지고 있기 때문에 이를 활용한 수치지도 수정갱신의 가능성에 대한 검토와 방법론에 대한 정립이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내에서 개발된 신기술인 GPS-Van을 이용한 수치지도 수정갱신을 위한 정확도 분석 및 오차의 영향 분석을 통하여 보다 높은 정밀도의 도로기반 수치지도 수정 갱신의 가능성 및 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 쾌적하고 능률적인 생태도시 건설을 계획할 때는 도시의 자연환경을 고려하여 공공시설의 입지선정을 신중히 해야한다. 도시계획과 운영이 합리적으로 이루어진다면 도시는 쾌적한 촌락환경과 크게 다르게 되지 않을 것이다. 그러므로 도시문제의 해결을 위해서는 도시를 구성하고 있는 요소와 관련된 모든 분야 즉, 도시계획, 토목공학, 생태학, 기후학, 지리학 등의 전문가들이 함께 문제를 검토하고 계획하는 학제간의 협력이 필요하다. 즉, 도시의 기온분호으 ㅣ패턴, 탁월풍과 도로망 및 구조물의 배열, 도시공원과 가로수의 적정 수종을 이해한다면 도시의 쾌적한 환경을 유지하기 위하여 비싼 대가를 치르지 않아도 될 것이다. 또한 도시의 행정책임자는 쾌적한 도시 환경을 보전하기 위하여 제도 및 업무수행에 유연하여야 할 것이다.

  • Recent huge losses of both life and property have occurred by unexpected natural disasters. We studied snow damages, an important natural disaster issue because it happens more frequently in recent years. This study tries to select vulnerable areas of snowfall in advance and then establish climate change adaptation policy for minimizing unexpected snowfall damage. Busan, where is our study area, has hilly in downtown areas so that topography characteristics of the roads such as slope, elevation and aspect are vulnerable to snowfall. The sudden snowfall in Busan causes traffic jam and causes some schools in hilly to close some schools. At this moment, the adaptation policy has to be established for infrastructure (such as roads) in advance, because prediction of anomaly climate due to global warming is so difficult beside the damage of natural disaster is huge. Therefore, the purpose of this study is contribute to selecting and assessing vulnerable zones of snow damage focusing topography characteristics of the roads and then evaluating the degree of risk of vulnerable zones.
