  • An in vitro digestibility methods have been developed to mimic an in vivo system in the past decades. Because the in vivo techniques cause high cost, intensive labor, longer research periods and ethnical problems. In this review, the digestive systems from stomach to large intestine of pig as a monogastric animal were addressed to understand an in vivo digestion. The innovative in vitro technique using the Daisy II incubator was performed and the in vitro ileal and fecal dry matter (DM) digestibility of corn, rice, wheat and barley was determined.

Participants of the study 2 were asked to list possible benefits and costs of biotechnology and their specific applications. In study 3, Participants responded the questionnaires about perceptions and attitudes of biotechnology. Korean people associated the biotechnology with its costs or risks and benefits. Korean college students mainly got the informations of the biotechnology from TV, newspapers, or internet. They trusted the scientist group and NGO group on their judgements about the assessment of risk and benefit of the biotechnology. College students showed the positive attitude with the applications in medicines and negative attitude with the applications in agriculture and public using of individual's genetic information. The radicalism, sensitivity in behavioral activation system, and trust/cynicism were to be found as a significant influencing factor for interest/knowledge and behavioral intention in related with biotechnology. • This study was conducted to explore the effects of Moral Sensitivity(MS), Biomedical Ethics Awareness(BEA) on Attitudes toward Withdrawal of Life-Sustaining Treatment(AWLST) of nursing students. The data were collected from May 1, 2018 to May 20, 2018 for 302 nursing students. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The average degree of MS was 3.45, BEA was 3.69, and AWLST was 3.36. MS was positively correlated with BEA(r=.149, p=.010) and AWLST(r=.223, p<.001). BEA was negatively correlated with AWLST(r=-.129 p=.025). Models including MS(${\beta}=.2.47$, p<.001) and BEA(${\beta}=-.166$, p=.003) explained 7% of variance in the AWLST. It is necessary to provide education that consider the MS, BEA and AWLST level of nursing students to help them establish an acceptable view of AWLST.

  • The lift table summarized and calculated the life expectancy at each ages according to aging. In this study, we tried to re-classify and summarized the application of the life table because the life table can be applied to several research and industry area. We utilized the whole papers published in Korea and international until 2011 and we considered several classification standards based on application, base period, gender, and observation period. Each standard divides the life tables into two or three categories. The standard of application groups them into general and applied life tables. The standard of base period is divided into two parts: abridge life table using the unit of 5 years and complete life table of one year. According to gender, life tables are classified in male, female, and unisex life tables. According to complete life table, they are period life tables and cohort life tables. This study contributes to inform how life tables can be employed in many other areas by analyzing how the life tables are constructed.

  • The study of Artificial Life Art has affected the development of art using artificial life. Artificial Life Art started as a concern for microscopic organisms and has developed into works producing some creativities through the choices of spectators. The interests in real animals have resulted in the production of artificial animals such as cyber pets, and the interests in humans have been led to the creation of avatars. We will analyze the invisible emotional field of Naoko Tosa's works which use cyber pets and avatars, and clarify how the creative changes of Artificial Life Art affect the development of interactive art.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the respect for life of nursing students and to prepare the basic data for developing educational programs to establish proper awareness of the life of nursing students and nurturing it. This is a descriptive research study. A total of 146 nursing students were included in this study. Data analysis was performed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The results of this study confirmed the meaning of life, spiritual wellbeing, and attitude toward death as factors influencing respect and will for life. The explanatory power of these three factors was 26.3%. Therefore, nursing students will be able to cultivate respect for life by increasing their understanding of the meaning of life, improving their level of spiritual well-being, and reducing their negative attitudes about death. Also, in order to improve the respect for life of nursing students, it will be possible to develop an intervention program to improve life respect including the factors identified in this study. Ultimately, it is expected to grow into a nurse who can provide real help to patients who are at the end of life or who are dying.

Methods: Sixty two textbooks adopted as middle and high school textbooks were analyzed for content on life respect. Results: There were 6 categories related to life respect content in the 7th to 9th grade textbooks ("prevention of accidents and the first-aid", "mental health", "sex and health", "prevention of drug abuse, smoking and drinking", "normal life and health", and "society and health"). Content on life respect in the 10th grade textbooks was categorized as "drug abuse, smoking, drinking, and health", "sex and health", "mental health", "life science and treating human life too lightly", "normal life and health", and "society and health". Conclusion: Content on life respect attached importance to more practical issue such as prevention of violence and suicide rather than fundamental understanding about self and life. These results suggest that the content on life respect should help adolescents find their own values and meaning of life within the concept of coexistence.
