Public libraries are a space where residents learn a wide range of knowledge and ideologies, and as they are directly connected to life, various related studies have been conducted. In most previous studies, variables such as population, traffic accessibility, and environment were found to be highly relevant to library use. In this study, it can be said that the difference from previous studies is that the book borrow demand and relevance were analyzed by reflecting the variables of cultural characteristics based on the book borrow history (1,820,407 cases) and member information (297,222 persons). As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that as the increase in borrows for social science and literature books compared to technical science books, the demand for book borrows increased. In addition, various descriptive statistical analyzes were used to analyze the characteristics of library book borrow demand, and policy implications and limitations of the study were also presented based on the analysis results. and considering that cultural characteristics change depending on the location and time of day, it is believed that related research should be continued in the future.

The purpose of this study is to propose a personalized book recommendation system to promote the use of university libraries. In particular, unlike many recommended services that are based on existing users' preferences, this study proposes a method that derive evaluation metrics using individual users' book rental history and tendencies, which can be an effective alternative when users' preferences are not available. This study suggests models using two matrix decomposition methods: Singular Value Decomposition(SVD) and Stochastic Gradient Descent(SGD) that recommend books to users in a way that yields an expected preference score for books that have not yet been read by them. In addition, the model was implemented using a user-based collaborative filtering algorithm by referring to book rental history of other users that have high similarities with the target user. Finally, user evaluation was conducted for the three models using the derived evaluation metrics. Each of the three models recommended five books to users who can either accept or reject the recommendations as the way to evaluate the models.

Regardless of East and West, public libraries provide various services to their communities based on collections. The decisive reason for local residents to visit public libraries is to access and borro w collections. An important condition maintenance to support these activities and services is the library circulation(usage) rules. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed the library membership, maximum loan items, loan period, loan reserve and renewal, overdue fines, disposal of lost and damaged items, loan of non-book materials, loan regulations for the disabled. And after checking the relative deviations in connection with the library cases of major developed countries, this study proposed the improvement of circulation rules. In order to minimize public complaints about circulation services and to relieve the burden of practitioners such as personnel disadvantage due to administrative audit for non-recoverable ite ms, public libraries must faithfully rearrange the circulation rules and regulations.

This study is to analyze factors affecting collection size by the type of materials of university libraries in Korea. This study attempt to suggest a policy for the effect of using in the public libraries by the verification that are different between groups by their using patterns and types of book collections. by using patterns and system of desired-book for user. by using patterns and system of desired-book for user. The questionnaire is distributed to the delivery lending library's user and librarian in public libraries. The summary of results are as follows 1 The Circulation period of public library is one month per every delivery lending library. 2. The Circulation volume of public library is '100-200' books per every times. 3. There are significant differences by their using patterns and types of book collections. 4. There are significant differences by their using patterns and system of desired-book for user. 5. There are significant differences by their using patterns and placement of book collections. Their results show that library is most effective place of book collection services. 6. Circulation services must carry out only in the sphere of jurisdiction 7. A Lost books must set up treatment basis of natural reduction ratio 8. The Interference factors of delivery lending library are lacks of human power, lost books and negative attitute of user in order 9. The Effects of using a delivery lending library are a positive attitute and specialty of top management, the optimum of budget and the effect of deposit system 10. Natural reduction ratio of lost books appropriates 0.5-0.6% of total loaned books

This study aims to quantitatively assess collection and circulation data of one small library in an area where multicultural users are concentrated and draw policy implications on improving multicultural services for public libraries. The Ansan Multicultural Small Library was selected for examining the library's collection and circulation usages from 2016 to 2022. The numbers of collection and circulation, collection turnover rates and use factors were calculated by year, language, and KDC subject. The result of this study presents the empirical evidence drawn from users' circulation usage, which can be a basis for leading to valid collection development and multicultural service policies.

This study examined several recommendation techniques to construct an effective book recommender system in a library. Experiments revealed that a hybrid recommendation technique is more effective than either collaborative filtering or content-based filtering technique in recommending books to be borrowed in an academic library setting. The recommendation technique based on association rule turned out the lowest in performance.

In this study, in order to understand the characteristics of the users' information needs for each public library unit, the user needs were analyzed based on the various attribute information of the books loaned to 11 public libraries in 8 districts in Seoul. As a result, the prominent book use patterns of the libraries were revealed, specifically related to the target user groups, purpose/motivation, interests/preferences, book genre, and subject. In addition, there was a preference for authors, and a difference in the role of the preferred authors in each library was also revealed. The results of this study will help to provide guidelines for the development of differentiated collections and service programs based on user needs.

현대사회가 언제 어디서나 정보를 주고 받는 유비쿼터스 사회로 변화하면서 센싱기술, 통신기술, 서비스 기술 등을 이용하여 우리가 볼 수 있는 모든 사물을 사람과 통신 가능하게 해주는 IoT기술이 부각되고 있다. IoT는 일반적으로 사람의 관여 없이 사물 간에 이루어지는 통신을 뜻하는 것으로 국내에선 개념적으로 USN기술과 흡사하다. 본 논문에서는 USN 분야 중 하나인 모바일 RFID 기술을 이용한 도서 대출 시스템을 제안하고 무선으로 정보를 주고 받는 모바일 RFID의 특성을 고려하여 태그와 리더 간의 인증 프로토콜을 제시한다.

In a situation with reducing numbers of students and local universities in crisis, this study aims to analyze collection and loan usage data in small-sized university libraries and present evidence for guiding their collection development policy. The data was collected from Rinfo from 2010 to 2022 regarding the numbers of enrolled students, collected books, book loans, and electronic resources and compared the average values of entire 4-year university libraries to those of small-sized ones by year and region. Results show that while the numbers of enrolled students and book loans have decreased in both of groups, the number of collected books has increased 30% more in small groups and the amount of electronic resource use has increased enormously as well. Correlation analysis presents that both of groups have the consistent result. It is suggested that small-sized university libraries should highly increase their budget ratio to electronic resources for collection development and build a consortium by university's speciality for mutual use of electronic resources.
