  • This study was carried out to investigate the solubility of the ingredients of the bilestone in the solution of the traditional oriental medicines. The cholesterol and the calcium carbonate(CaCO₃) were chosen as the ingredients of the bilestone. Coicis Semen, Polygonum aviculare L, Maydis Stigmata, Allium tuberosum Rottler, and Raphanus sativa var. hortensis for. acanthiformis Makino were studied as the oriental medicines for the bilestone. The cholesterol had showed no solubility in all solutions of the traditional oriental medicines, but the calcium carbonate had showed the good solubility in all solutions of the traditional oriental medicines except Coicis Semen.

  • Cholelithiasis is rarely recognized in children, especially in infants. Hemolytic disorders, long-term total parenteral nutrition (TPN), congenital anomalies of the biliary tree leading to stasis of bile flow, congenital IgA-deficiency, furosemide treatment, and prolonged fasting have been reported as predisposing factors for cholelithiasis in childhood. Hemolytic disease of the newborn due to anti-E has rarely been reported as a risk factor for cholelithiasis. We report a case of gallbladder stones in a neonate associated with anti-E antibody hemolytic disease.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the solubility of the bilestone in the solutions of the traditional oriental medicine prescriptions. The cholesterol and the calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$) were chosen as the ingredients of the bilestone. Three prescriptions were studied for the bilestone. The cholesterol had showed under 5% solubility in all solutions of the traditional oriental medicine prescriptions, but the calcium carbonate had showed the 30-50% solubility in all solutions of the traditional oriental medicine prescriptions.
