  • The purpose of this study was to examine the inhibition of human cancer cell proliferation by using various concentrations of Beet Extract containing various bioactive ingredients. The six cancer cell lines used in the experiment were prostate cancer cells DU-145, lung cancer cells A549, breast cancer cells MCF-7, cervical cancer cells HeLa, liver cancer cells SNU-182, and biliary tract cancer cells SNU-1196. Human-derived cancer cell lines were used. The inhibition of cancer cell proliferation at various concentrations of Beet Extract was measured by the CCK-8 method. As a result of examining the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, Beet Extract significantly and concentration-dependently inhibited DU145 of prostate cancer cells at all concentrations, and Lung cancer cells A549 and DU-145 of prostate cancer cells at 100ug/mL and 1000ug/mL, cervical cancer cells HeLa, and liver cancer cells SNU- 182, biliary tract cancer cell SNU-1196 showed significant proliferation inhibition at 1000ug/mL. Experiment result, the cancer cell proliferation inhibitory mechanisms of Beet Extract using various human-derived cancer cell lines can be considered to provide cancer prevention effects and the possibility of developing functional foods.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effect of Brussels sprout extract on the proliferation of various cancer cells and to examine the degree of inhibition of proliferation. The six cell lines used in the experiment were human-derived cancer cell lines: prostate cancer cells DU-145, lung cancer cells A549, breast cancer cells MCF-7, uterine cancer cells HeLa, biliary tract cancer cells SNU-1196, and liver cancer cells SNU-182. Inhibition of cancer cell proliferation was measured using the CCK-8 assay. As a result of examining the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation by 1ug/mL, 10ug/mL, and 100ug/mL of Brussels sprout extract, lung cancer cell A549 and uterine cancer cell HeLa showed significant proliferation inhibition at 10ug/mL and 100ug/mL of Brussels sprout extract, and biliary tract Cancer cells SNU-1196 showed significant inhibition of proliferation at 1ug/mL, 10ug/mL, and 100ug/mL of Brussels sprout extract. These results suggest that Brussels sprout extract may have potential anticancer effects against various types of cancer cells.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effect of Broccoli Extract on the proliferation inhibition of human-derived cancer cells and the degree of inhibition. The three cell lines used in the experiment were respiratory system lung cancer cells A549, digestive system liver cancer cells SNU-182 and biliary tract cancer SNU-1196. All cancer cells were derived from the human body, and the CCK-8 method was used to measure the degree of inhibition of cancer cell proliferation. As a result of examining the effect on Broccoli Extract 10ug/mL, 100ug/mL, 1000ug/mL, Broccoli Extract inhibited proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner in most cancer cells, In particular, lung cancer cell A549 and liver cancer cell SNU-182 showed significant proliferation inhibition at 1000ug/mL.As a result, it can be seen that broccoli extract provides potential as a cancer preventive and therapeutic agent for tumor suppression mechanisms proven through cell experiments.

  • We report an unusual case of postoperative early gastric cancer with liver metastasis mimicking pancreaticobiliary carcinoma. A 73-year-old man with early gastric cancer was transferred for endoscopic treatment. The patient underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection for the treatment of the early gastric cancer. The pathological diagnosis was adenocarcinoma with extension to the deep submucosa and some lymphatic invasion. Therefore, subsequent a subtotal gastrectomy was performed. The histological results demonstrated residual adenocarcinoma confined to the mucosa. The resection margin and lymph node metastasis were negative. Thus, he was closely monitored for recurrence every 6 months. After 2 years, he was suddenly suspected of developing liver metastasis and local recurrence. He received a liver biopsy, and the pathological result was poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemical staining suggested pancreaticobiliary carcinoma rather than metastatic adenocarcinoma from the stomach or colon, but primary focus was not found. We were sure that the recurrent stomach cancer metastasized to the liver because stomach cancer can show heterogeneous cytokeratin (CK) expression pattern with various histological features. Therefore, no single CK expression pattern has diagnostic value for distinguishing gastric carcinoma. The patient underwent chemotherapy for metastatic stomach cancer.
