Development of E-100 Fuel Pump Lower Housing Using Cold Forging Process (E-100용 연료펌프 하부 하우징의 냉간단조 개발)

  • Performance and anti-corrosion of cold forged fuel pumps and die-casting fuel pumps have been tested in this study. Ethanol with 10 ppm of acetic acid is applied for the anti-corrosion test for 250 hours. Performance test result shows that the pumping efficiency of the cold forged fuel pump is equivalent to that of the die-casting fuel pump. The cold forged lower housing has better quality against corrosiveness and finer metallic structure than the die-casting lower housing does.

  • 본 논문에서는 자동차 공조부품인 리시버드라이어로서 플랜지와 바디로 구성되어 있다. 리시버드라이어는 냉매 중 포함된 습기 및 기타 불순물을 차단하는 부품으로서 사이트글라스가 부착되어 냉매의 흐름의 상태를 알 수 있다. 또한 압력 밸브가 부착되어 있어 냉매 회로의 압력과 온도가 상승하면 녹아서 냉매를 배출하므로 배관이나 부품들의 압력에 의해서 파괴되는 것을 방지 할 수 있다. 최근 경제적 성형에 관심이 많아 대표적 성형공정인 냉간단조를 적용하여 소재 회수율 및 절삭 비용 등을 절감하는데 목적을 두었다. 냉간단조를 적용하여 자동차 공조 부품인 플랜지와 바디를 개발하는데 공정설계, 금형설계, 금형제작 기술을 확보하였다.

  • In this paper, a new design of the sprinkler branch outlet for fire-extinguishing purposes is presented together with its manufacturing process. The conventional three-piece design is improved by a new one-piece design with the help of the manufacturing technology of cold forging. The forging process is simulated and optimized by the rigid-plastic finite element method and the design tryouts are thus minimized. It has been shown through its applications that the presented system is much more economical and structurally stronger.

  • The material industry is an important infrastructure industry that uses process technology in order to produce parts applied to the final product and determine the quality of the finished product. However, the market environment, which has been recognized as a 3D industry, has deteriorated recently and lost competitiveness compared to other material industry countries. This study analyzed the characteristics of forging companies and The study found that three characteristics of the forging industry, facility-oriented, order-based, and field-centered, and internal failure cost and external failure costs were set as the range of quality cost. A total of eight quality tasks were selected by applying the quality cost management system and continuous quality improvement process developed for large-scale A forging company, and improvement activity proved its effectiveness reducing quality costs by 63.3% compared to the previous year. The research helps forging companies establish a quality management strategy by systematically managing and analyzing quality costs.

Finite Element Analysis for the Forging Process Design of a Blind Rivet (블라인드 리벳의 단조공정설계를 위한 유한요소해석)

  • A rivet which can fasten two parts is one of an important mechanical elements. In this study, the process design of a blind revet is implemented using finite element method in order to manufacture it which can resist high vibration and has strong coherence between two parts. Considering plastic flow, ease of manufacture, high strength, material loss, and so forth, an optimal four-stage process is proposed by finite element analysis and process design rules. In addition, the finite element simulation results such as shape of the forged rivet, strain distribution and forging load are investigated for the usefulness of the forging process of the blind rivet. These results will be contributed to the forging process design and the die design of the blind rivet.

  • 본 논문에서는 냉간단조된 연료펌프와 다이캐스팅된 연료펌프에 대한 성능 실험을 수행하였다. 수행결과 냉간단조와 다이캐스팅으로 가공된 하부하우징으로 제작된 연료펌프는 회전수마다 미미한 차이를 보이지만, 전체적으로 동등한 성능을 보이고 있다.

  • In the process of warm forging, billet is heated up to $800^{\circ}C$ and located in the upper part of die block impression. The scattered oxidized scale may cause workers burn and shortening of die life sticking to the die block impression. The separating materials sprayed in die block cause harmful dust, harmful mist, fume, and bad odor which contaminate workshop environment. The process is classified as one of the avoided jobs and make the planned output achievement difficult. Development of an elimination device to clear out the contaminating materials in the workshop and improvement of the unsatisfactory maintenance method to fix the abrasion of die block impression which delays the dead line, cost increases needs to be developed. In this research, I tried to solve the problems caused in warm forging of bronze pipe joint such as the billet heating process, die maintenance, and manufacturing cost through improvement of warming forging manufacturing method and die maintenance method and eliminating harmful gas which will make the workshop more environment friendly.
