  • Using data from the Economically Active Population Survey: Supplement by Employment Type, This paper examines the effects of the 2007 Act on the Protection of Fixed-term and Part-time Employees on employment levels. Since the Act is applied to only individuals below 55 years of age, we restrict the analysis sample to men whose ages are close to 55 at the time of the survey. For such a sample, the empirical analysis combines regression discontinuity design with a difference-in-differences. The results suggest that the employment effect of the 2007 Act takes a U-shape. The results suggest that the employment effect of the 2007 Act takes a U-shape. The negative effect of the Act was largest around August 2008, a year after it took effect. The negative effects on employment faded away toward August 2009.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of young children's playfulness, emotional control, and emotional instability on their peer play behavior, focusing on age differences. A total of 209 4- and 5-year-old children attending a child care center in South Korea participated in this study. The instruments used in this study were the Playfulness Scale, Emotion Regulation Checklist, and Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale. The collected data were analyzed using a Student's t-test, Pearson's partial correlation, and stepwise regressions with the SPSS software ver. 16.0. The main results of this study are as follows: First, there was a significant age difference in young children's emotional control, emotional instability, playfulness and peer play behavior. Second, the factors of emotional control and playfulness significantly predicted young children's play interaction irrespective of age. Third, the factors of emotional instability and playfulness significantly predicted young children's play disruption and play disconnection. Further, implications for the use of early intervention targeting specific emotional control and emotional instability problems have been discussed.

  • This study was to examine the relationship between self-differentiation and mental health of elderly couples. This study also tries to investigate the effect of self-differentiation on mental health. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaire method with 271 elderly couples over 55 years old who lived in Chollabuk-Do province. The results showed that first, there was no significant difference in the level of total self-differentiation between husbands and wives. While the level of mental health(depression, somatization) were higher for wives than for husbands. Second, both husbands' and wives' mental health were negatively correlated with self-differentiation. Finally, results of multiple regression analyses showed that both husbands' and wives' mental health were negatively influenced by self-differentiation. Specifically, the variable significant affecting the husbands' mental health was the emotional reactivity of self-differentiation and the variable significant wives' mental health was the emotional cut-off of self-differentiation. These findings confirmed the concept of self-differentiation in applying to mental health of elderly couples.

  • This study investigates the export behavior of Busan, Gwangyang and Incheon Port. The monthly data cover the period from January 2000 to December 2015. We employ six export functions composed of various exchange rates and industrial production index. This paper finds that the nominal effective exchange rate is more appropriate for explaining the export behaviors of the three ports, regardless of the narrow and wide indices which comprise 26 and 61 economies for the nominal and real indices respectively. This paper tests whether exchange rate and industrial production are stationary or not, rejecting the null hypothesis of a unit root in each of the level variables and of a unit root for the residuals from the cointegration at the 5 percent significance level. The error-correction model is estimated to find that both Gwangyang and Incheon ports are much slower than Busan port in adjusting the short-run disequilibrium and Gwangyang port is a little slower than Incheon port. The rolling regressions show that the influence of exchange rate as well as industrial production tends to decrease in all of three ports. The variance decomposition, however, shows that the export variables are very exogenous and the export of Busan Port is the least exogenous and that of Gwangyang Port the most. This result indicates that the economic variables such as exchange rate and economic activity affect the export of Busan Port more strongly than that of Gwangyang and Incheon Port.

  • Background: In January 2018, revised elderly fixed outpatient copayment for the elderly were implemented. When people ages 65 years and older receive outpatient treatment at clinic-level medical institutions (clinic, dental clinic, Korean medicine clinic), with medical expenses exceeding 15,000 won but not exceeding 25,000 won, their copayment rates have decreased differentially from 30%. This study aimed to examine the changes of health utilization of elderly after revised elderly fixed outpatient copayment. Methods: We used Korea health panel data from 2016 to 2018. The time period is divided into before and after the revised elderly fixed outpatient copayment. We conducted Poisson segmented regression to estimate the changes in outpatient utilization and inpatient utilization and conducted segmented regression to estimate the changes in medical expenses. Results: Immediately after the revised policy, the number of clinic and Korean medicine outpatient visits of medical expenses under 15,000 won decreased. But the number of clinic outpatient visits in the range of 15,000 to 20,000 won and Korean medicine clinic in the range of 20,000 to 25,000 won increased. Copayment in outpatient temporarily decreased. The inpatient admission rates and total medical expenses temporarily decreased but increased again. Conclusion: We confirmed the temporary increase in outpatient utilization in the medical expense segment with reduced copayment rates. And a temporary decrease in medical expenses followed by an increase again. To reduce the burden of medical expense among elderly in the long run, efforts to establish chronic disease management policies aimed at preventing disease occurrence and deterioration in advance need to continue.

  • This paper studies the impact of domestic and foreign economic activity on mobility among regions. The shortage of human resources and demand continues in Eastern Europeans. Especially Ukrainians, have entered the Polish labor market to make up for the scarce areas. As a result, Poland's supply and demand in Ukraine is disproportionate. Minimum wage increases are putting continued pressure on employers. Therefore, the regression equation in the form of job-seeker's economic activity ratio, y= AX2+B,(x=settlers) can be used to grasp the relationship between curves. According to the domestic and foreign workers who migrated, economic activities was rather than increasing the local population, the settlers of nearby large cities is more proportional. Empirical analysis has shown that the human resource hub has increased migration to large cities and industrial. The hub 'A'nation has been created for mobility in 4th wave re-industry, and the same re-industrialization (N2) in other cities has attracted nearby human resources, but not settle. After all, the hub relationship between N1 and N2 is a mobile relationship. Due to wage inequality or a positive wellbeing chasm, workers are not settled plant area but a nearby city, or commuting between borders is easy to go into the hub central city. However, this proved on emerging from the relatively temporary settlers in the AI era.

  • This study examines the mediating effects of self-efficacy between self-differentiation and depression by analyzing 105 parents who have at least one child with a disability. Regression analysis confirmed all hypothesis between self-differentiation, self-efficacy, and depression. There exists partially or complete mediation. That is the indirect effect on depression, self-efficacy explains the relationships between self-differentiation and depression to be as minimum as 24 percent to as maximum as 100 percent. This demonstrates that the self-efficacy significantly affects the relationship between self-differentiation and depression. Findings of this study recommend that self-efficacy should be enhanced through improving the level of self-differentiation. The results also imply that rehabilitation counselors need to understand the way of improving self-efficacy as well as the fact that the influencing factors of self-differentiation on self-efficacy is important. The findings of this study are informative for researchers, educators, and clinicians for mental health and psychological rehabilitation who assist the parents of children with disabilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis empirically the socio-structural causes of working poor. This study used raw data of of Korea National Statistical Office from 1982 to 2004, and put in operation time series multiple regression analysis to use socio-economic factors of macro-economy environment, labor market, distribution system. Contrary to assertion of growth-concentrated people, economic growth rate has had significantly positive effect on the change of working poor size. In the growth period there has been trickle down effect of economic growth, but in the post-Fordism period there has not been valid circular relation. Recent introduction of the U. S. type capitalism resulted in negative phenomenon like aggravation of income distribution, deterioration of employment quality, enlargement of working poor. And there rise a question on socio-economic durability due to de-compensation on intra-institution. It is necessary to grope transition to the high road social market model - that is stable and sustainable - correspond to Korea that is stable and sustainable.
