Effects of Dan Jeon Breathing on Depression, Anxiety and Fatigue of Hemodialysis Patients (단전호흡이 혈액투석환자의 우울, 불안 및 피로에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was performed to examine the effects of Dan Jeon Breathing on depression, anxiety and fatigue of hemodialysis patients. This study used the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Before applying the Dan Jeon Breathing program, the patients were divided into the experimental group and the control group, respectively, and were requested to report their self-ratings to measure their depression, anxiety and fatigue. The Dan Jeon Breathing program was given to both groups for 60 minutes a day and 2 times a week for 12 weeks. The data collected from the program were analysed by means of ${\chi}^2$ test, Fisher's exact probability test, Shapiro-Wilk, t-test and Mann-Whitney U test. The analyses revealed that the depression (t=-2.459, ${\rho}$=.019) and anxiety (t=-2.541, ${\rho}$=.016) levels of the experimental group decreased after Dan Jeon Breathing compared to those of the control group. The difference in fatigue level was statistically insignificant (Z=-1.871, ${\rho}$=.061), though. From the above results, it was verified that Dan Jeon Breathing could be used as nursing intervention for hemodialysis patients to mitigate their depression and anxiety.

  • 정신의 건강이 신체건강을 좌우할 수도 있다는 신념 아래 올바른 가치관과 정신력을 추구하는 모임이 있다. 동화은행 본점의 직원들 중 단전호흡에 관심이 있는 몇몇 직원들이 주축이 되어 일년 전 모임을 마련한 도인회 회원들은 남들보다 일찍 아침을 시작하여 남들보다 길게 하루를 살아가고 있는 부지런한 사람들이다. 여기저기서 크고 작은 스트레스에 시달리고 있는 현대인들에게는 단전호흡을 통한 정신적 건강과 마음의 안정이 무엇보다 필요하다고 말하는 도인회의 활동을 소개한다.

Effects of Dan Jeon Breathing on Stress, Sleep Disturbance and Self-esteem of Hemodialysis Patients (단전호흡이 혈액투석환자의 스트레스, 수면장애 및 자아존중감에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was performed to examine the effects of Dan Jeon Breathing on stress, sleep disturbance and self-esteem of hemodialysis patients. This study used the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Before applying the Dan Jeon Breathing program, the patients were divided into the experimental group and the control group, respectively, and were requested to report their self-ratings to measure their stress, sleep disturbance and self-esteem. The Dan Jeon Breathing program was given to experimental groups for 60 minutes a day and 2 times a week for 12 weeks. The analyses revealed that the stress(t=-2.95, p=.006) and sleep disturbance(t=-2.13, p=.041) levels of the experimental group decreased after Dan Jeon Breathing compared to those of the control group. The difference in self-esteem(t=2.44, p=.020) level was statistically significant. From the above results, it was verified that Dan Jeon Breathing could be used as nursing intervention for hemodialysis patients to mitigate their stress, sleep disturbance and to improve their self-esteem.

  • 일반적으로 가창을 위한 호흡법으로는 두 가지를 들 수 있다. 가슴의 횡격막 부분을 사용하는 복식호흡법과 배꼽 밑 부분의 아랫배를 활용한 단전호흡법으로 나눌 수 있다. 일반적으로 윗배를 사용하는 복식 호흡법의 경우 주로 성악 발성에서 사용 하였으며, 아랫배를 활용한 단전호흡법의 경우 창이나 판소리 등의 국악 창법에 많이 사용되었다. 상대적으로 역사가 짧은 대중음악의 경우는 특정한 호흡법이 없고 누구에게 배웠느냐에 따라 호흡하는 방법이 결정되었다. 그러나 매스미디어가 발전함에 따라 대중음악 분야도 발전하게 되었고, 대중가요 가수들을 위한 독창적인 호흡법도 절실히 필요하게 되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가창력을 증진 시킬 수 있는 효과적인 호흡법을 제시해 보고자 한다.

Experience of Elderly Women Practicing Dan Jeon Breathing: A Phenomenological Study (건강중재로 단전호흡을 실천하는 노인여성의 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore elderly women's experience and meaning of Dan Jeon Breathing. Methods: Ten elderly women who have practiced Dan Jeon Breathing over 3 months participated in this study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews from participants from May 2012 to January 2013. Data were analyzed with a phenomenological method outlined by Colaizzi (1978). Results: A total of 153 significant statements were extracted from the data resulting in nine themes and five theme clusters. Theme clusters were: "mind-body intervention for old age", "a happy life in old age", "getting better with great efforts", "did not meet their expectations", and "delay at aging process". Conclusion: This study provides us with an understanding on process of elderly women's experiences practicing Dan Jeon Breathing in maintaining and promoting health. Therefore, it is recommended for elderly women who want to maintain health and longevity perform Dan Jeon Breathing as a mind-body nursing intervention.

  • An actor should be well-trained at the natural breathing and phonation in order for a good diction. This thesis is focused on the breathing training method at the pre-phonation stage. The past research on the breathing and phonation training was generally for vocal music, yoga, or those which were approached by the medical view point, whereas there are not so many researches which are approached for an acting training even though it is quite important for actors. In addition, such researches have been given an overview of breathing, phonation and diction. Therefore, this thesis which is focused on the breathing training at the pre-phonation stage suggests the natural breathing training method through the imagination and image in the various situations which could exist in the drama.

  • 사과에도 중심(core)이 있고 지구도 지표면과 안으로 중심이 있듯이 인체에도 몸의 중심 부위가 있다. 보통 단전 부위에 무게중심이 있다고 설명을 한다. 단전의 위치에 대해서는 여러 가지 설이 있어 한마디로 정의하기는 어려우나 일반적으로 상단전, 중단전, 하단전으로 분류학 상단전은 뇌 부분, 중단전은 심장에서 명치 부분, 하단전은 배꼽 아래 부분에 있다고 한다. 단전이라고 할 때 약간의 차이는 있지만 아랫배 부근을 가르키며, 기해라고도 한다. 특히 하단전은 모든 경락이 모이는 곳으로서 원기를 저장하는 곳이며 기 흐름의 요체이다. 또한 생명력을 배양하는 곳이자 복식호흡의 기본력이라고 알려져 있다. 그러면 의학적으로는 어떤 것을 신체 중심(core)이라고 이야기 할까?

Development of a Dan J eon Breathing Model for Health Promotion in Middle-aged Women (중년여성의 건강증진을 위한 단전호흡 모형 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a Dan Jeon Breathing Model and to identify effects of the developed Dan Jeon Breathing Model for maintenance and promotion of health and improvement of health problems in middle-aged women. Method: This study was constructed with two procedures. The first procedure was to develop appropriate movements for middle-aged women, performing a focus group discussion and developing a Dan Jeon Breathing Model in qualitative research. The collected data from focus group discussions was categorized for fitting movements. The second procedure was to verify and conclude a Hypothetic Dan Jeon Breathing Model through a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Result: The developed Dan Jeon Breathing Model was composed of 28 preparation movements to accept Ki comfortably, 10 breathing movements to accumulate Ki for activation of metabolic function in organs and 14 finishing movements to transmit activated Ki to organs. It took 40 minutes to do them. In the Second procedure, the score of physical health (t=4.205, p=.000), psycho-social health(t=3.292, p=.002) and physical strength of the experimental group(t=5.905, p=.000) was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: The Dan Jeon Breathing Model developed in this study is the correct health promotion model for middle-aged women, their demand, developmental traits and health problems.
