The development of Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM), which is a highly flowable material, has been performed for the application of backfill. The objective of this study is to compare the compressive strength and compressive wave velocity of CLSM according to the curing time. To investigate the characteristics of the CLSM consisting of sand, silt, water, flyash, and CSA cement, uniaxial compression test and flow test were carried out. For the measurement of compressional waves, a cell and a couple of transducers were used. The test results show that the compressive strength increases with the curing time, while the increment of compressive strength decreases with the curing time. In addition, the compressive wave velocity increases with the curing time, and the correlation between the compressive wave velocity and compressive strength is similar to exponential function. This study suggests that the correlation between the compressive wave velocity and compressive strength may be effectively used for the estimation of compressive strength of the CLSM at early curing time.

The present study prepared lightweight foam-soil concrete mixtures classified into three groups. Considering the sustainablility, workability, and compressive strength development of such concrete, high-volume supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) were used as follows: 20% cement, 15% fly ash, and 65% ground granulated blast-furnace slag. As main test parameters selected for achieving the compressive strength of 1MPa and dry density of $1,000kg/m^3$, the unit solid content (dredged soil and binder) ranged between 900 and $1,807kg/m^3$, and soil-to-binder ratio varied between 3.0 and 7.0. Test results revealed that the flow of the lightweight foam-soil concrete tended to decrease with the increase of unit soil content. The compressive strength of such concrete increased with the increase with the unit binder content, whereas it decreased as soil-to-binder ratio increased, indicating that the compressive strength can be formulated as a function of its dry density and soil-to-binder ratio.

Recently, the use of UHPC made of superplasticizers, silica fume, and steel fibers has been increasing worldwide. Although UHPC has a very high strength as well as an excellent durability performance due to its dense microstructures, earlyage cracks may occur due to the high heat of hydration and autogenous shrinkage caused by low W/B and high unit cement content. The early-age shrinkage cracking of UHPC can be controlled by using the shrinkage reducers and expansive admixtures having autogenous shrinkage compensation effect. In this paper, ultrasonic pulse velocity of UHPC containing shrinkage reducers and expansive agents was measured to predict its stiffness change. Also, the effect of shrinkage reducers and expansive agents on the autogenous shinkage of UHPC was investigated through the shrinkage test of UHPC specimens. Furthermore, the material coefficients of autogenous shrinkage prediction model were determined using the autogenous shrinkage values of UHPC with age. Consequently, the test results showed that, by adding shrinkage reducers and expansive agents, the stiffness of UHPC was rapidly developed at early-ages and the autogenous shrinkage was considerably reduced.

The main disadvantage of rapid setting concrete is the occurrence of cracking because of fast hydration reaction due to high thermal expansion and shrinkage. However, if the fly ash is used in concrete, it is possible to prevent cracking since the hydration heat can be decreased. Although Very-Early Strength-Latex Modified Concrete(VES-LMC) is an excellent material, occurrence of cracking has been reported because of high hydration heat. In the present study, new method which can apply the fly ash to the VES-LMC was developed. Research for the new method to improve the safety for the cracking was conducted. Safety was confirmed by reducing the shrinkage and hydration heat in the condition of overcoming the low early-age strength. Detailed conclusions are follows. Early-age compressive strength was decreased a little with increase of UFFA content. However, 28-d compressive strength was statistically insignificant regardless of UFFA contents. If the UFFA is replaced 15% to 20% of unit cement weight in concrete, maximum shrinkage can be reduced up to 43% to 47%. Usage of UFFA in VES-LMC guarantees the safety for cracking since it is very effective to control of early-age shrinkage.
In this study, evaluation and consideration of domestic/overseas design, construction, and quality control performed by the authors on the deep cement mixing method were performed, and improvements for the development of the DCM method were suggested in the future. As a result of this study, it was found that the cross-sectional area correction for strength is required during the laboratory test of mix proportion, and caution is required because the extrapolation method may lead to different results from the actual one. Applicable design methods should be selected in consideration of both the improvement ratio and the type of improvement during design, and it was confirmed that the allowable compressive strength to which the safety factor was applied refers to the standard value for stability review and not the design parameters. In the case of the stress concentration ratio, rather than applying a conventional value, it was possible to perform economical design by calculating the experimental and theoretical stress concentration ratio reflecting the design conditions. In the case where pre-boring is expected during construction, if the increased water content is not large compared to the original, there were cases where a major problem did not occur even if the result that did not consider the increase in water content was used. In addition, it was confirmed that when the ratio of the top treatment length to the improved length is high, a small amount of design cement contents per unit length can be injected during construction. In the case of quality control, it was evaluated that D/4~2D/4 for single-axis and D/4 point for multi-axis were optimal for coring of grouting mixtures. As an item for quality control, it is judged that the standard that considers the TCR along with the unconfined compressive strength of grouting mixtures is more suitable for the domestic situation.

The present study evaluate the chloride extracion under electrochemical chloride extraction method. Chloride was penetrated into the concrete from external reservoir using a 4M NaCl solution, and an electrochemical chloride extraction method was applied after the curing period of 1 year. The current density was constantly kept 1000 mA/m2 for coulostatic application with the variation in potential difference. The duration of the ECE treatment was 2, 4, 8 weeks, respectively. The residual chloride concentration at all depths decreased, and the chloride concentration decreased as the application period increased. After the application period of 8 weeks, 62.9 to 77.6 % of chloride extracted in the total chloride profile, and 77.7 to 99.5 % of chloride extracted in the free chloride profile. In particular, the concentration of free chloride at a depth of 7 mm or more from the concrete surface was 0.01 % or less by cement. In addition, it was confirmed that the bound chloride could be extracted by the electrochemical chloride extraction.
This study is intended to find out the influence of Lignosulfonic Acid Type Admixture on compressive, tensile, flexural strength and dispersing action of mortar, and fixation of by-product of pulp industry. 1. The more Pozzolith-84 is added, the larger flow value is. The admixture of lignosulfonic acid type adhere to cement particles and the surface potential of particles is generated. On account of the repulsion among the cement particles, they are dispersed and the mortar get workable, so the production cost of precast product is curtailed and the amount of cement is reduced in a certain workability of mortar. 2. The strength of mortar is greater than plain mortar when P/C added is 0.2 and 0.4%. As time passed the potential energy is reduced and the distance of particles which lignosulfonic acid adhered to get near according as the amount of adhesion is increased. The setting and hardening reaction of morter is occurred in close state, so the strength of mortar is increased a little. The strength of mortar is less than plain mortar when amount P/C added is 0.8%. Pozzolith-84 is mainly composed of lignosulfonic acid and lignin does not influence the hardening of mortar, therefore the remained $SO_3$, $SO_3H$ are the reason of decrease of strength. 3. There is high significance between specific gravity and compressive strength. The larger specific gravity is, the more compressive strength is increased. There is high significance between 7 day's strength and 28 day's strength. The larger compressive strength is, the more tensile and flexural strength are increased. 4. Since Pozzolith-84 is a by-product of pulp industry, by using the Pozzolith-84 admixture the concreate quality is improved. The water pollusion is reduced according to fix by-products in concrete structure.
