The Repetition Effects of LDP Stimulus Words on Word Completion Tasl and Cued-Recall Task (처리깊이에 따른 학습단어의 반복제시가 단어완성검사와 단서 회상검사에 미치는 효과)

  • The study was designed to investigate implicit and explicit memory for words with processing theory.From experiment 1 to experiment 3,in a study phase,subjects first viewed stimulus words and were required to rate likeness of words of semantic processing task and to count lines of words of perceptual processing task.In a test phase,subjects were tested by implicit word completion task and explicit cued recall task.In experiment 1,levels of processing (LOP)effects were examined.Lop effects were obtained on the explicit memory tasks but not on the implicit memory tasks.In experiment 2,repertition of perceptual processing task influenced onlu implicit memory task.In experiment 3,bepertiotion of semantic processing task affected both implicit memory task and explicit memory task.These findings suggest that repetition effect of stimulus words are explanied better in dual process theory than transfer-appropriate processing theory.

Effects of Spatial Attention for Words on Implicit Memory (단어에 대한 공각적 주의가 암묵기억에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study examined the role of spatial attention in implicit memory for words when the word identity processing was not required. Spatial attention to the identity-irrelevant perceptual features of the words was manipulated by using a visual search task (Experiment 1) or a focused attention task (Experiment 2). In two e experiments. a significant priming effect was not found for the target words as well as for the distractor words. Implicit memory for words was not affected by spatial attention on the perceptual properties of the words. indicating that the word identity processing is required to produce priming.

Development of Korean Consonant Perception Test (자음지각검사 (KCPT)의 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop Korean Consonant Perception Test (KCPT), that is a phonemic level including elementary data to evaluate speech and consonant perception ability of the normal and the hearing impaired qualitatively and quantitatively. KCPT was completed with meaningful monosyllabic words out of possible all Korean monosyllabic words, considering articulation characteristics, the degree of difficulty, and the frequency of the phonemic appearance, after assembling a tentative initial and final consonants testing items using four multiple-choice method which were applied to the seven final consonant regulation and controlled with the familiarity of the target words. Conclusively, the final three hundred items were developed including two- and one-hundred items for initial and final testing items, respectively, with the evaluation of the 20 normal hearing adults. Through this process, the final KCPT was composed upon the colloquial frequency following identification of no speakers' variances statistically and elimination of the highly difficult items. The 30 hearing impaired were tested with KCPT and found that the half lists, A and B, were not different statistically and the initial and final testing items were appropriate for evaluating initial and final consonants, respectively.

Effect of LED Illuminance and Task Difficulty on Long-term Memory (LED 조명의 조도와 과제난이도가 장기기억에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of LED illumination and task difficulty on a person's long-term memory. Illumination levels of 400 lx and 1,000 lx were employed in this study, and task difficulty was set at learning 4 words (easy task) and 7 words (difficult task). The person's retention rate of the learned task was designated as a dependent variable. A total of 64 subjects participated in this study, and 16 participants assigned to each of the four sets of conditions. The results indicated that the retention rate for the difficult task under relatively dark 400 lx conditions was 68.49%, while and the retention rate was higher than 56.03% for 1,000 lx conditions. In addition, for the easy task, the retention rate was 67.97% and 56.55% for the 400 1x and the 1,000 1x conditions, respectively. However, the interaction between illumination and task difficulty was not statistically significant. The study results further suggested that long-term memory can be effective in relatively dark conditions and indirectly suggests that long-term memory may not follow the Yokers-Dodson law.
