Detection of Pavement Region with Structural Patterns through Adaptive Multi-Seed Region Growing (적응적 다중 시드 영역 확장법을 이용한 구조적 패턴의 보도 영역 검출)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive pavement region detection method that is robust to changes of structural patterns in a natural scene. In order to segment out a pavement reliably, we propose two step approaches. We first detect the borderline of a pavement and separate out the candidate region of a pavement using VRays. The VRays are straight lines starting from a vanishing point. They split out the candidate region that includes the pavement in a radial shape. Once the candidate region is found, we next employ the adaptive multi-seed region growing(A-MSRG) method within the candidate region. The A-MSRG method segments out the pavement region very accurately by growing seed regions. The number of seed regions are to be determined adaptively depending on the encountered situation. We prove the effectiveness of our approach by comparing its performance against the performances of seed region growing(SRG) approach and multi-seed region growing(MSRG) approach in terms of the false detection rate.

  • 기존 객체 지향 방법론에 의한 소프트웨어 개발에서의 공통적인 문제점은 표기법이 복잡하고, 산출물도 많아서 사용자가 이해하기가 어렵다는 것이다. 또한 분석단계에 있어서도 객체추출의 자세한 가이드라인을 제시한지 않고 있어서 개발자들의 감각과 경험에 크게 의존하고 있어 일관성이 없으며, 추출된 객체들 사이의 연결을 찾기가 쉽지 않아 확장이 어렵다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 간단한 표기법과 산출물로 개발 초기부터 사용자의 참여를 유도할 수 있는 정보 구조 모델링을 이용하여 분석 단계에서의 객체 추출에 대한 가이드 라인을 제시하고자 한다.

Proposal of a condensing & amplification method for conceiving a good advertising visual idea (광고비주얼의 아이디어발상을 위한 압축$\cdot$확장법의 제안)

  • There were several methods of conception in seeking a visul idea of the advertising design. However, such conventional methods had a tendency that the degrees of utilization and satisfation are lacking. Also, in a thumbnail sketch phase, there was a great tendency to seek an idea based on pictorial elements only and thus depended chiefly on the existing references. Accordingly, originality was not high. Further, under the background which any common methods of a designer and a copywriter, if they have effective. I would like to propose a visul idea conception method, a condensing & amplification method for maintaining a logical system of advertising intelligence and for facilitating creative visualization through a language-oriented approach. The condensing & amplification method is the method of conception, in which after an appeal point as per advertising intelligence is passed through sentence and phrase and then condensed with word, various variation for the word develop, and by selecting the most creative word of the results, the thumbnail sketch commences based on the results amplified with the phrases and sentences.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of responsive teaching method for pre-service teachers in Chemistry Education Department of H University. We designed three steps for the discussions: foregrounding the substance of learners' ideas, recognizing the disciplinary connections within learners' ideas, taking up and pursing the substance of thinking. In the step of foregrounding the substance of learners' ideas, we analyzed the questionnaires conducted by the 20 pre-service teachers to understand the nature of their ideas about evaporation and boiling. Among them, five pre-service teachers were selected to recognize the disciplinary connections within learners' ideas. Through these steps, the pre-service teachers have grasped the nature of their thinking about evaporation and boiling, and have experienced the process of modifying or expanding the frames of thought by the disciplinary connections within learners' ideas. In addition, the pre-service teachers directly perceived the effect of the responsive teaching method by experiencing dynamic changes of their conceptions.

The Analysis of Thought Change of 11th Grade Students related to Conservation of Mass and Volume Change by Responsive Teaching (반응적 교수법에 의한 고등학교 1학년 학생들의 질량 보존과 부피 변화에 대한 사고 변화 분석)

  • This study was conducted on four 11th grade students at a high school in a small town to determine the effectiveness of responsive teaching. The three phases of the responsive teaching method proposed in the previous study were subdivided into six stages; Step 1 is elicitation of students' thoughts related to macroscopic world, Step 2 is drawing of students' early thoughts related to microscopic world, Step 3 is disciplinary connections with ideas of the particle, Step 4 is to clarify the learner's thoughts on the particle by the teacher's involvement, Step 5 is deepening students' thoughts, and Step 6 is expanding ideas. In Step 4, students came to the recognition that the cause of mass was atoms and that the cause of volume was molecules. In Step 5, students led to a shift in thinking that could ignore the volume of the molecules themselves through the properties of protons and neutrons that affect mass from a particle perspective. In the Step 6 of expanding ideas, students explained molecular motion by the concept of material point which ignores the volume of particles. This steps gave students perspectives on the relationship between the mass and volume of particles required by Avogadro's law. The students recognized that some systems could be studied only indirectly because they were too small, too large, too fast, or too slow to observe directly.

A High-Performance Fault-Tolerant Switching Network and Its Fault Diagnosis (고성능 결함감내 스위칭 망과 결함 진단법)

  • In this paper, we present a high-performance fault-tolerant switching networks using a deflection self-routing scheme, and present fault-diagnosis method for the network. We use the facts: 1) Each stage of the Banyan network is arrayed as the sequences of a Cyclic group of SEs. 2) There is the homomorphism between adjacent stages from a view of self-routing, so that all of each Cyclic group is the subgroup of the Cyclic group in the next stage, and there are factor groups due to such subgroup and homomorphism. We provide high-performance fault-tolerant switching networks of which the all links including augmented links are used as the alternate links detouring faulty links. We also present the fault diagnosis scheme for the proposed switching network that provide multiple paths for each input-output pair.

  • In this paper, we discuss about De Morgan's view on the development of algebra according to following distinctions: arithmetic, universal arithmetic, symbolic algebra, significant algebra. De Morgan thought that the differences between arithmetic and universal arithmetic lie in the usage of letters and the immediate performance of computation. In his viewpoint, universal arithmetic is a transitional phase, in which absurd phenomena occur, from arithmetic to algebra and these absurd phenomena call for algebra. The feature of De Morgan's view on the development of algebra is that symbolic calculus which consist of symbol system without symbol's meaning is acquired, then as extended meanings are furnished to symbols, symbolic calculus become logical so significant calculus is developed. For example, Single algebra is developed, as an extended meaning is furnished to a symbol -1, and double algebra is developed, as an extended meaning is furnished to a symbol $\sqrt{-1}$. According to De Morgan, a symbol system is derived from the incompleteness of a prior symbol system.

  • 웹 애플리케이션의 영역이 확장되고, 기능 역시 단순한 정보의 제공에 머무르지 않고 다양한 형태의 다이나믹한 애플리케이션을 통한 사용자와의 상호작용을 통한 새로운 기능들이 추가되고 있다. 정정 커지고 복잡해지는 렐 애플리케이션에 있어서 사용자가 자신의 목적을 위해 효과적으로 움직일 수 있는 경로인 항해 구조에 대한 관심이 커지고 있다. 그러나 이제까지의 연구들은 웹 애플리케이션의 전체적인 틀에서의 항해 모델에 대한 연구들 일 분 각 항해단계의 성격에 대한 정의와 분류는 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 각각의 항해 단계들을 정의. 분류하고, 각 항해들의 표기법을 제시한다 이러한 항해 단계의 분류를 웹 애플리케이션의 성격에 따라 적절히 이용하여 다양한 형태의 효과적인 항해 모델을 생성, 표현할 수 있다. 마지막으로 본 논문에서의 분류를 바탕으로 간단한 모델링의 예를 보인다.

Confidence Bounds following Adaptive Group Sequential Tests with Repeated Measures in Clinical Trials (반복측정자료를 가지는 적응적 집단축차검정에서의 신뢰구간 추정)

  • A group sequential design can end a clinical trial early if a confirmed efficacy or a futility of study medication is found during clinical trials. Adaptation can adjust the design of clinical trials based on accumulated data. The key to this methodology is considered to control the overall type 1 error rate while maintaining the integrity of clinical trials. The estimation would be more complex and the sample size calculation will be more difficult if the clinical trials have repeated measurement data. Lee et al. (2002) suggested a repeated observation case by using the independent increments properties of the interim test statistics and investigated the properties of the proposed confidence interval based on the stage-wise ordering. This study extend Lee et al. (2002) to adaptive group sequential design. We suggest test statistics for the adaptation as redesigning the second stage of clinical trials and induce the stage-wise confidence interval of parameter of interests. The simulation will help to confirm the suggested method.

The Three-Stage Stratified Unrelated Question Model (층화 3단계 무관질문모형)

  • For procuring more sensitive information and estimating stratum target population proportion as well as an overall one form a sensitive population composed of several strata we suggest a two-stage stratified unrelated question model that uses stratified random sampling instead of simple random sampling in the two-stage unrelated question model by Kim et al. (1992) and extend it to the three-stage stratified unrelated question model. We also deal with the proportional and optimal allocation problems in each suggested model, compare the relative efficiency of the suggested two models, and show that the three-stage stratified unrelated question model is more efficient than the two-stage one in view of the variance.
