A Comparison of Two Research Methods on Human Sensibility Using Adjectives (형용사를 이용한 주관적 감성 연구의 두 방법 비교)

  • 본 연구는 형용사를 이용한 향의 이미지 구조 연구에서 자극을 사용한 경우와 향을 제시하지 알은 두 경우를 비교하였다. 자극을 제시한 실험에서는 피험자에게 5가지의 향 자극을 주고 각 향에 대한 이미지를 25개의 형용사에 대하여 7점 척도로 표시하도록 하였다. 자극을 제시하지 않은 실험은 쌍 비교법을 사용하여 형용사를 두개 씩 쌍을 지워 제시하고 두 형용사가 유사한 정도를 7점 척도로 나타내게 하였다. 두 자료를 다차원 척도 (MDS), 군집분석, 상관관계를 이용하여 분석을 실시하여 비교하였다. 결론적으로 향의 이미지 구조는 자극 제시여부에 따라 구조적이며 근본적인 차이가 없음이 밝혀졌다. 그러나 자료 분포의 밀집정도에 따른 지엽적인 차이는 있었으며 이러한 차이는 두 경우에 적용되는 기억이, 단기기억과 장기기억으로, 다르다는 점에서 기인되는 것이 라고 판단되었다.

Preference Analysis for the Pedestrian Space in Large-scale Residential Complex by Multi Dimensional Scaling -Focused on the Haeundae New town in Busan- (다차원 척도법을 이용한 대규모 주거단지 보행공간의 선호도 분석 -부산광역시 해운대 신시가지를 대상으로-)

  • We analyzed pedestrian preference and features of preferential space by MDS (Multi Dimensional Scaling). As the result, features of pedestrian space in dimension 1 could be interpreted as "Segregation of Pedestrian and Vehicle", and features of pedestrian space in dimension 2 could be read like "Natural-City". And as a result of vector analysis about preferential of pedestrian, a pedestrian mall between housing complex, pedestrian space in pocket park, pedestrian space in neighborhood park, and pedestrian space around public facilities was the best preferential space. On the other hand, pedestrians tended to dislike pedestrian space between detached.

A Comparative Study on Welfare Level for the Persons with Disabilities using Multidimensional Scaling and Cluster Analysis (다차원척도법과 군집분석을 활용한 시도별 장애인복지수준 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics of welfare level for the persons with disabilities in Korean local governments. The study adopted multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis. Based on prior studies and comparative importance research, three indicators were extracted from the welfare circumstance index for the disabled. They are the ratio of the registered disabled population, the ratio of the disabled household in poor households, the ratio of dependence on public finance. Also, nine dimensions and twenty seven indicators were extracted from the welfare level index. The dimensions are as follows : Education, income & economic activities support, welfare services infra-structure, health & welfare service support, movement convenience & safety, rights protection, culture, leisure & information accessibility, welfare administration & budget for the disabled. The findings from the welfare circumstance index show that local governments are divided into three groups and all indicators are statistically significant. On the other hand, the findings from the welfare level index, show that local governments are divided into four groups and five indicators are statistically significant. Based on these findings, the study proposes improvement in the disabled welfare level, and balanced development of local governments.

A research on the emotion GUI design of touch mobile for Grooming user by using a multidimensional standard analysis (다차원 척도 분석법을 통한 Grooming 사용자의 터치폰 감성 GUI 디자인에 대한 연구)

  • This study is to establish GUI (graphic user interface) in mobile touch phone for grooming user by using two dimensional emotion model determined by multi-dimensional scale method. The processes conducted in the research were as the followings: First of all, visceral, behavioral, and reflective factors of emotion (Norman, 2002) was defined from investigating the life styles of the Grooming users. Secondly, factor analysis was performed to extract the representative emotional words. In the third step, they were mapped into the two-dimensional emotion model through multi-dimensional scaling. Finally, the mapped emotional words were tried to be related to GUI factors of touch phones and normalizing their relation degree between 0 and 1. This study determined GUI factors significantly related to representative emotions described as special, self-centered, sophisticated, free, passionate, neat for application to mobile touch phone. This study determined the major emotion factors that should be considered the most important while designing the GUI factors.

Visualization Method of Document Retrieval Result based on Centers of Clusters (군집 중심 기반 문헌 검색 결과의 시각화)

  • Because it is difficult on existing document retrieval systems to visualize the search result, search results show document titles and short summaries of the parts that include the search keywords. If the result list is long, it is difficult to examine all the documents at once and to find a relation among them. This study uses clustering to classify similar documents into groups to make it easy to grasp the relations among the searched documents. Also, this study proposes a two-level visualization algorithm such that, first, the center of clusters is projected to low-dimensional space by using multi-dimensional scaling to help searchers grasp the relation among clusters at a glance, and second, individual documents are drawn in low-dimensional space based on the center of clusters using the orbital model as a basis to easily confirm similarities among individual documents. This study is tested on the benchmark data and the real data, and it shows that it is possible to visualize search results in real time.

  • This study analyzed the citation count of papers and authors in the field of human geography through the multidimensional scaling and social network analysis with the papers and their references published in Journal of Korean Geographical Society(Geography). The major findings of this study are as follows. Group formation of common approaches in intelligent network has not formed by cited literature in the field of human geography of a journal representing Korea. Then, each researcher should study consistently on a subject to form a school rather than diversify the field and subject of study. They also need to increase the citation count by accumulating research work with a high degree of completion. In addition, many universities with a lot of enrolled graduate students of master's and doctorate course have a responsibility to encourage the formation of school. Meanwhile, if the master's and doctoral dissertations are not official publications unlike journals, the citation of them should be avoided institutionally because it is the unique phenomena of Korea.

A Study on Concept Mapping of the Citizen-initiative (주민주도성에 관한 개념도(Concept Mapping) 연구)

  • The citizen-initiative has been frequently mentioned in community building project which is being promoted by Seoul City. The citizen-initiative has become an important concept in the direction of community welfare efforts. However, this concept has not been defined clearly in social welfare. In this context, the purpose of this study is to find how the practitioners of the social welfare practice field recognize the concept of citizen-initiative. In this study, concept mapping method was used to generate 59 statements about the citizeninitiative in 10 social workers in Seoul. Multidimensional scaling analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis are used to do mapping and grouping the 59 statements. The results are as follows. A total of 6 categories were derived. The six categories are named "Inducement of Participation", "Practice", "Procedure", "Awareness and Interest extension", "Expression of Opinion", "Attitude and Emotion". "Practice" category was revealed as a core category in the concept of citizen-initiative. This study is meaningful as a first step to discuss "what is the citizen-initiative?" and to make consensus in social welfare academic area and practice field.

The Effect of Sensibility on Motion (움직임에서의 감성 효과)

  • 기존의 감성 연구들은 주회 배색이나 형태등과 관련된 정적인 장면 위주로 수행되었다. 기술의 발달로 역동적인 디스플레이가 가능해지면서 동적인 장면을 대상으로 한 감성연구의 필요성이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 움직임과 관련된 감성어휘를 추출하여 감성 차원을 밝히고 움직임과 관련된 속성을 살펴보았다. 다양한 방법을 통해 수집된 감성어휘를 적절성 평가를 통해 70개로 정리한 뒤 요인분석을 통해 각 요인을 대표하는 19개의 기본 감성 어휘를 추출하였다. 움직임 패턴을 제시하면서 19개의 감성어휘를 기초로 움직임에서 의 감성을 평정하도록 하였다. 다차원 척도법을 이용하여 분석한 결과 움직임에 대한 감성 차원은 '적극적이다-소극적이다'의 차원과 ‘밝다-어둡다’의 두 차원으로 대부분 설명 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 움직이는 속도와 진행 경로를 변화시키면서 두 가지 감성 차원에 따라 움직임에서의 감성을 평가하도록 하였다. 움직이는 속도와 곡선 경로의 진폭이 움직임에서의 감성 차원을 결정하는 중요한 요소로 작용하는 경향을 보였다.

A Study on the User Segmentation Analysis through POSA method (POSA 분석을 통한 소비자 유형 분류에 관한 연구)

  • 기본적으로 모든 소비자들은 조금씩 다르며, 제품은 그 차이를 극대화 시킴으로써 다양한 소비를 촉진하게 된다. 이와 같은 시장 세분화와 포지셔닝 전략은 디자인 경영에 있어 매우 중요한 전략적 단계라 할 수 있으며, 기업의 소비자 분석의 목적이기도 하다. 다차원 척도법은 군집 분석에서와 마찬가지로 자료에 내재된 구조를 찾아내어 자료를 함축적으로 표현하고자 하는 자료축약형 다변량 분석 기법이다. 패턴 분류의 수량화를 이용하는 POSA(Partial Order Scalogram Analysis)는 MSA(Multidimensional Scalogram Analysis)의 구조화된 방법으로 디자인 전략을 수립하는 단계에서 소비자의 성향을 보다 세분화할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 디자인 리서치 단계에 POSA 방법론을 적용하였을 때 소비자 유형 분류가 가능하다고 보고, 창의적 디자인 컨셉의 도출에 어느 정도 역할을 하는지 알아보고자 함을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 부분적 계층 분석법인 POSA 분석방법을 통하여 사용자의 계층을 세분화하는 방법을 고안하고, 이를 분석함으로써 소비자의 유형을 분류하여 디자인 포지셔닝과 방향을 제시하는 방법론을 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 설문조사를 통하여 POSA 기법을 이용한 소비자 유형 분류 방법이 고안되었고, 이를 기반으로 모바일 기기를 위한 프로젝트에 실제 디자인 사례로 적용되었으며, 이러한 소비자 유형 분석을 통하여 타겟 유저의 시나리오 작성 단계에서 창의적 발상을 지원한다는 점을 발견할 수 있었다.

Robust Multidimensional Scaling for Multi-robot Localization (멀티로봇 위치 인식을 위한 강화 다차원 척도법)

  • This paper presents a multi-robot localization based on multidimensional scaling (MDS) in spite of the existence of incomplete and noisy data. While the traditional algorithms for MDS work on the full-rank distance matrix, there might be many missing data in the real world due to occlusions. Moreover, it has no considerations to dealing with the uncertainty due to noisy observations. We propose a robust MDS to handle both the incomplete and noisy data, which is applied to solve the multi-robot localization problem. To deal with the incomplete data, we use the Nystr$\ddot{o}$m approximation which approximates the full distance matrix. To deal with the uncertainty, we formulate a Bayesian framework for MDS which finds the posterior of coordinates of objects by means of statistical inference. We not only verify the performance of MDS-based multi-robot localization by computer simulations, but also implement a real world localization of multi-robot team. Using extensive empirical results, we show that the accuracy of the proposed method is almost similar to that of Monte Carlo Localization(MCL).
