  • This study aimed to develop an Interprofessinal Education(IPE) program for third-year healthcare students to provide patient safety-oriented services and demonstrate professionalism, and to determine the effects of applying the program for five days on patient safety knowledge and patient safety performance confidence. Key topics included understanding job roles by profession, training in patient risk prediction, scenario-based patient experience, and strategies for identifying improvement. As a result of the study, after the application of the IPE program, the patient safety knowledge decreased statistically significantly from 39 points to 37 points(p=.007). The patient safety performance confidence increased statistically significantly from 6.71 pints to 7.50 points(p<.001). In addition, students who experienced clinical practice had higher patient safety knowledge after applying the IPE program, but there was no difference in patient safety performance. Repeated studies are recommended to prove the effectiveness of the IPE program, and specific measures should be taken to expand and continuously manage the IPE program.

For these purposes, the survey using the Inclusive Education Assessment Tool (hereafter IEAT) was conducted to evaluate the special needs education system of remote islands of Okinawa and its results were analyzed through t-test. Finally, the tasks to develop the inclusive education model for remote islands by comparing and analyzing the results of this study with the tasks that were proposed in the Outcome Report on the Project to Build Inclusive Education System Model(2016) were suggested as follows: first, the expertise of special needs education should be guaranteed; second, the network among various professionals and organizations needs to be established; third, the awareness of disabilities needs to be promoted; fourth, the independence of students with disabilities needs to be improved; and finally equal opportunity should be guaranteed.

  • Recently people require complex access to problems in various fields of health, medical and welfare by an aging society. For this reason, the need for interprofessional education is required at the site of university education. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of interprofessional education (IPE) on attitudes towards health care teams. The subjects were 29 sophomores in the fields of health, medical and welfare in a university. Attitudes Towards Health Care Teams Scale (ATHCT) was used to measure the attitudes towards health care teams of subjects. The subjects were provided with a IPE program. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and paired t-test using the SPSS 26.0 version program. The attitudes towards health care teams of subjects increased significantly after IPE education (t=-4.28, p<.001). And there were significant differences in the three sub-factors of attitudes towards health care teams (Team efficacy, t=-4.44, p<.001; Benefit of communication, t=-3.30, p=.003; Team value, t=-3.21, p=.003). Therefore, the IPE program is considered to be an effective education program to improve attitudes towards health care teams.
