In this paper, the performance of multicore processor architecture is analyzed which utilizes out-of-order superscalar processor core using multiple basic block execution. Using SPEC 2000 benchmarks as input, the trace-driven simulation has been performed for the out-of-order superscalar processor with the window size from 32 to 64 and the number of cores between 1 and 16, exploiting multiple basic block execution from 1 to 4 extensively. As a result, the multicore out-of-order superscalar processor with 4 basic block execution achieves 22.0 % average performance increase over the same architecture with the single basic block execution.

The reconstruction on the computed tomography requires much time for calculation. The calculation time rapidly increases with enlarging matrix size for improving image quality. Multi-core processor, multi-core CPU, has widely used nowadays and has provided the reduction of the calculation time through multi-threads. In this study, the calculation time of the reconstruction process would improved using multi-threads based on the multi-core processor. The Pthread and the OpenMP used for multi-threads were used in convolution and back projection steps that required much time in the reconstruction. The Pthread and the OpenMP showed similar results in the speedup and the efficiency.

This paper evaluates and analyzes the performance of TILE-Gx36(Gx36), a many-core processor. The PARSEC parallel benchmark suite was used to measure the performance, and Core i7 (i7) and Atom are used for the performance comparison. When experimented with the maximum number of threads that can be executed concurrently on each machine, Gx36 showed a 2.73${\times}$ inferior performance to Core i7 and a 1.93${\times}$ superior performance to Atom. Gx36 has the largest Last Level Cache(LLC) among the compared processors. Nevertheless, it reported the biggest number of LLC misses, which, we strongly believe, is the major culprit for lower performance than expected. Our study suggests that the DDC employed in Gx36 is not a favorable cache structure for the general-purpose high-performance computing. The actual measurement with off-the-shelf machine provides non-biased data for polishing the future many-core architecture.

This paper proposes a scheduling scheme that enhances power consumption efficiency of periodic real-time tasks using DVFS and power-shut-down mechanisms while meeting their deadlines on multicore processors. The proposed scheme is suitable for dependent multicore processors in which processing cores have an identical speed at an instant, and resolves the load unbalance of processing cores by exploiting parallel processing because the load unbalance causes inefficient power consumption in previous methods. Also the scheme activates a part of processing cores and turns off the power of unused cores. The number of activated processing cores is determined through mathematical analysis. Evaluation experiments show that the proposed scheme saves up to 77% power consumption of the previous method.

PRESENT/ARIA/AES의 3가지 블록 암호 알고리즘을 지원하는 암호 프로세서를 MPW(Multi-Project Wafer)칩으로 구현하였다. PRmo(PRESENT with mode of operation)
This paper discusses performance bottlenecks that may occur when executing high-performance computing MPI applications in the Intel's next generation many-core processor called Knights Landing(KNL), as well as effective resource allocation techniques to solve this problem. KNL is composed of a host processor to enable self-booting in addition to an existing accelerator consisting of a many-core processor, and it was released with a new type of on-package memory with improved bandwidth on top of existing DDR4 based memory. We empirically verified an improvement of the execution performance of multiple MPI applications and the overall system utilization ratio by studying a resource allocation method optimized for such new many-core processor architectures.

In this paper, we discuss and propose an efficiently parallelized block cipher algorithm on the CELL BE processor. With considering the heterogeneous feature of the CELL BE architecture, we apply different encoding/decoding methods to PPE and SPE and improve the throughput. Our implementation was fully tested, with execution results showing achievement of high throughput, capable of supporting as high network speed as 2.59 Gbps. Compared to various parallel implementations on multi-core systems, our approach provides speedup of 1.34 in terms of encoding/decoding speed.
As era of multi-core processors has arrived, transactional memory has been considered as an effective method to achieve easy and fast multi-threaded programming. Various hardware transactional memory systems such as UTM, VTM, FastTM, LogTM, and LogTM-SE, have been introduced in order to implement high-performance multi-core processors. Especially, LogTM-SE has provided study performance with an efficient memory management policy and a practical thread scheduling method through conflict detection based on signatures. However, increasing number of cores on a processor imposes the hardware complexity for signature processing. This causes overall performance degradation due to the heavy workload on signature comparison. In this paper, we propose a new architecture of multiple signature comparison to improve conflict detection of signature based transactional memory systems.
