This paper studies the design of a multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where a base station (BS) transmits independent messages to multiple users. The remarkable "dirty paper coding (DPC)" result was first presented by Costa that the capacity does not change if the Gaussian interference is known at the transmitter noncausally. While several implementable DPC schemes have been proposed recently for single-user dirty-paper channels, DPC is still difficult to implement directly in practical multiuser MIMO channels. In this paper, we propose a network channel matrix triangulation (NMT) algorithm for utilizing interference known at the transmitter. The NMT algorithm decomposes a multiuser MIMO channel into a set of parallel, single-input single-output dirty-paper subchannels and then successively employs the DPC to each subchannel. This approach allows us to extend practical single-user DPC techniques to multiuser MIMO downlink cases. We present the sum rate analysis for the proposed scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes approach the sum rate capacity of the multiuser MIMO downlink at moderate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values.

In this paper, we propose a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) method based on channel alignment to simultaneously transmit multiple unicast and multicast streams in frequency-efficient manner. In this method, all receivers in a multicast cluster use the receive beamforming vectors that align their channels, and the base station uses the aligned channel information to design the transmit beamforming vectors that eliminate interference between multicast clusters. Using the effective receive channel information combined with the transmit beamforming vectors, unicast receivers design their own receive beamforming vectors that eliminate interference between unicast receivers. Since the proposed method effectively eliminates the interference, it achieves a higher sum rate than the existing orthogonal multiple access (OMA) method in high SNR regions. In addition, we present a hybrid method that exploits the benefits of the proposed NOMA method and the existing OMA method. Depending on the channel state, the hybrid method adaptively employs the existing OMA method, which improves the received signal power, in low SNR regions and the proposed NOMA method, which effectively eliminates the interference, in high SNR regions, thereby achieving a good sum rate over the entire SNR region.

Unitary matrix modulation (UMM) is investigated in multiple antennas system that is called unitary space-time modulation (USTM). In an OFDM, the diagonal components of UMM with splitting over the coherence bandwidth (UMM-S/OFDM) have been proposed. Recently LDPC code is strongly attended and studied due to simple decoding property with good error correction property. In this paper, we propose LDPC coded UMM-S/OFDM for increasing the system performance. Our proposed system can obtain frequency diversity using UMM-S/OFDM like USTM/OFDM, and large coding gain using LDPC code. The superior characteristics of the proposed UMM-S/OFDM are demonstrated by extensive computer simulations in multi-path Rayleigh fading channel.

In this paper, a distributed beamforming problem is considered in an amplify-and-forward (AF) wireless relay network consist of multiple source-destination pairs and relaying nodes. To exploit degree of freedom of the number of beamformers, in the first step, we proposed that the sources transmit their signals through orthogonal channels. During the second step, the relays transmit their received signals multiplied by complex weights to amplify and compensate for phase changes introduced by the backward channels through one common channel. The optimal beamforming vectors are obtained through minimization of the total relay transmit power while the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratios (SINRs) at the destinations are above certain thresholds to meet a quality of services (QoSs) level. In the numerical example, it is shown that the proposed scheme needs less transmit power for moderate network data rates than other schemes, such as space division multiplexing or time-division multiplexing scheme.

This paper proposes a cooperative power allocation with the use of partial channel information (e.g., the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and transmit correlation) in multi-cell dual-hop multi-input single-output (MISO) relay systems. In a dual-hop MISO relay channel, it is desirable to allocate the transmit power between dual-hop links to maximize the end-to-end capacity. We consider the maximization of the end-to-end capacity of a dual-hop MISO relay channel under sum-power constraint. The proposed scheme adaptively allocates the transmit power considering the average channel gain of the target relay and the transmit correlation of the desired and inter-relay interference channel from adjacent relays. It is shown by means of upper-bound analysis that the end-to-end capacity can be maximized by making the angle difference of the principal eigenvectors of the desired and inter-relay interference channel orthogonal in highly-correlated channel environments. Finally, the performance of the proposed scheme is verified by computer simulation.

In this paper, we consider a beamforming game between the transmitters in a two-user multiple-input single-output interference channel using limited feedback and investigate how each transmitter is able to find a modified strategy from the quantized channel state information (CSI). In the beamforming game, each of the transmitters (i.e., a player) tries to maximize the achievable rate (i.e., a payoff function) via a proper beamforming strategy. In our case, each transmitter's beamforming strategy is represented by a linear combining factor between the maximum ratio transmission (MRT) and the zero forcing (ZF) beamforming vectors, which is the Pareto optimal achieving strategy. With the quantized CSI, the transmitters' strategies may not be valid because of the quantization errors. We propose a modified solution, which takes into account the effects of the quantization errors.

The investigation into the effect of various feedback errors on system performance can help the robust feedback channel design and transmission of exact feedback channel information as well. In this paper, we address the algorithm that determines space combining weight vector maximizing received signal power at mobile on frequency flat fading channel and investigate the performance degradation by feedback channel delay in the FDD/CDMA systems employing transmit beamforming. We observe the effect of feedback channel delay corresponding to the number of transmit antennas and the temporal/spatial correlation of channel. The results show that performance is more sensitive to feedback delay with the larger number of antennas when fadings at transmit antennas are not spatially correlated.

The authors have proposed novel TDD-CDMA systems with Pre-Rake transmit diversity schemes (system 1 and system 2) using multiple transmit antennas in [2] and have also evaluated the system performance through the theoretical analysis and computer simulation. However, the performance of system 2 which transmit a signal using all antennas has not been evaluated for multi-user environment. Therefore in this paper, we analyze the performance of system 2 for multi-user environment and compare the performance with that of the already proposed system 1 which chooses only one antenna. From the numerical results, it is found that system 2 outperforms system 1 as the number of users increases while system 1 outperforms system 2 at a small number of users. Therefore in order to achieve the best system performance, the Pre-Rake transmit diversity type should be selected at the base station according to the number of users.

송신단에 다중안테나를 사용하는 송신 다이버시티 기법에 대한 연구가 최근 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access)2000과 3GPP(The third generation partnership project)에서 고려한 개루프 송신 다이버시티 기법인 STTD(Space time transmit diversify), OTD (Orthogonal transmit diversity), STS(Space time spreading)를 다수 반송파 CDMA 시스템에 적용시킬 경우 하향링크 (Downlink)에서의 성능을 평가한다. STS와 STTD방식은 동일한 성능을 보이지만 STS방식은 복잡도와 높은 PAR(Peak to average ratio)의 단점을 보이며, OTD는 이 두 방식에 비해 성능이 떨어지는 것을 보여준다.
