In this paper we propose a novel mobile terminal software architecture supporting energy efficient handover operation in heterogeneous networks. Since the legacy proposals for L3 handover are mostly dependent on IETF Mobile IP which has some problems in movement detection mechanism and no considerations on nested heterogeneous network environment as a result they make serious overload on networks and terminals by performing unnecessary handover in such network environments. The proposed architecture has terminal-oriented network selection and switching architecture where a mobile terminal periodically monitors network status and selects the optimum network, and reduces energy consumption by making L3 handover of Mobile IP to the finally selected network. The network selection method first picks up some candidate networks by considering a terminal speed and power consumption estimation, and determines the final target handover network among the candidates after evaluating multiple factors including QoS required by a terminal, network status, user preference and terminal battery status. Finally we verify the functionality and performance of the energy efficient vertical handover architecture by means of adopting it into a real mobile terminal.
LAPS is a device which is dependent on the bias potential between a pH sensitivity and alternating photocurrent. We implemented the multichannel LAPS device and the detection system which was able to effectively measure the sensor's output by a synchronized detection circuit and multiple methods. The implemented LAPS was structured the multiple sensing sites for analyzing a various components simultaneously. And the system included a time-division method using one pre-amplifier being able to detect the multichannel pH concentration preserving a high S/N ratio and a control part. System hardware consists of a pre-amplifier, digital unit and sensor unit, and software consists of a system program and PC program. As results, we verified the successful operations of system including an implemented pre-amplifier and signal processing units.
We report there on a 46-year-old male patient whose angina recurred after a coronary bypass graft (CABG). Occlusion of the first diagonal branch was found on performing a coronary angiogram (CAG), and this occlusion had not previously been present. So, a redo-off pump CABG was performed via a left posterolateral thoracotomy. The anastomosis was made between the descending thoracic aorta and the diagonal branch by using the right radial artery. On the Multi-detector computerized tomography (MDCT) coronary angiogram conducted after the operation, it was confirmed that there was no abnormality in the anastomosis site. A Redo-CABG was successfully performed via left posterolateral thoracotomy in the patient whose disease was only at the diagonal branch.

Optical fiber has many advantages, such as high reliability, long lifetime, immunity to the electromagnetic interference, high speed response and low cost. In this study, we proposed and developed an optical fiber impact and pressure sensor for prevention of accident which occurs in the automatic system or auto door. The principle of the sensor is to detect different optical intensity caused by variation of a speckle pattern due to the external perturbation. Speckle pattern appears at the end of a multimode fiber in which coherent beam propagates. The fabricated sensor in this study was tested. As a result of experiments, amplitude of the output signal isn't linear, but it has sufficient sensitivity for a sensor. Moreover, we can control sensitivity of the sensor by an amplifier at receiver. It has several advantages which are ability of detection at all point on the multimode fiber, large sensitive area, and many application areas for a sensing impact and pressure.
Bacteria of genus Vibrio are Gram-negative, curved, halophilic, nonspore-forming bacteria, autochthonous inhabitans of the marine and estuarine environments. Some of the Vibrio species such as V. parahaemolyticus, V. vulnificus, and V. cholerae are associated with human disease. Each year many people have been suffering from food-borne disease caused by the ingestion of seafood. In this study, we have monitored antibiotic resistance of this microorganism in 6 coastal areas of West Sea by sampling shellfish monthly. Vibrio spp. were detected from 23.3% of 120 samples analyzed using TCBS agar plates as well as API 20E kit. Among 16 antibiotics tested, resistance to vancomycin and ampicillin was observed in 82.1% of the isolates, and Vibrio spp. resistant to rifampin (71.4%) and cephalothin (53.6%) were also high. Most of the isolates were sensitive to chloramphenicol (92.9%), sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (92.9%), and tetracycline (96.4%). About 71.4% of the isolates showed multiple drug resistance toward 3 antibiotics including vancomycin and ampicillin.

As sensor technology grows up in fields such as environmental hazards detecting system, ubiquitous sensor network, intelligent robot, the sensing and detecting system for sensor is increasing. The sensor data is measured by change of chemical and physical status. Because of decrepit sensor or various sensing environment, it is problem that sensor data is inaccurate result. So the reliability of sensor data is essential. In this paper, we proposes a reliable sensor signal processing platform for various sensor. To improve reliability, we use same sensors in multiple array structure. As sensor data is corrected by spatial and temporal relation signal processing algorithm for measured sensor data, reliability of sensor data can be improved. The exclusive protocol between platform components is designed in order to verify sensor data and sensor state in various environment.

Energy spreading transform (EST) based modulation is an effective technique to combat frequency-selective fading in broadband wireless communication. It performs close to the inter-symbol interference (ISI)-free matched filter bound (MFB) only at the complexity of a linear detector. Originally, EST-based modulation has been proposed for QPSK. However, to fully utilize the capacity of multipath fading channels, higher-order modulations are also necessary. In this paper, we review the EST based modulation that has originally been proposed for QPSK and discuss its extension to 8 PSK and 16 QAM. The performance of the extended system is verified through simulation in Proakis B and 8-tap fading channel. The EST based modulation for 8 PSK shows the performance which is very close to MFB and the EST based modulation for 16 QAM shows the performance gap between its receiver and MFB.

The acousto-optical spectrometer is designed by using 1 GHz bandwidth acousto-optic deflector for radio signal analysis. This system is a high resolution wide band spectrometer which uses I GHz bandwidth and a total of 2,048 channel charge coupled device. When we measured the spectrums of signals deflected by acousto-optical spectrometer, we confirmed the stability of the total system by repetitive observations of the same frequency, and each part of the system worked well. We installed this system onto 60 cm radio telescope, and observed 12CO(J= 1 ∼0) emission lines around CRL 2688, IRC 10216 and NGC 5005 Galaxy center. We could observe effectively very narrow band width radio spectrum as well as wide band radio spectrum. We also confirmed high sensitivity and resolution in observation of 12CO(J-10) omission line of NGC 5005 Galaxy center which is a weak signal.

Selection-type relaying protocol, which is one of cooperative relaying protocols, provides low decoding complexity and improved system performance due to selection diversity. In this paper, we deal with linear precoding technique that minimize the error probability of cooperative MIMO system. Under the assumption that full channel state information is available at whole nodes, linear source and relay precoders, which minimize mean squared error of the estimated symbol vector, are proposed. Moreover, unlikely to the conventional selection-type relaying protocol using a fixed threshold signal-to-noise-ratio, new transmission link selection algorithm selects direct link or relay link as a transmission link, is introduced. Simulation results show that the proposed linear precoder with the transmission link selection algorithm outperforms the conventional precoders for two-hop relaying protocols or selection-type relaying protocols.

The HFC network has a architecture of a star topology in fiber optic trunks, and tree and branch topology is used in the part of coaxial cable. It is well known that the HFC upstream channel is noisy. Ingress, common mode distortion and impulse noise exist in the upstream channel. In order to provide Quality of Service(QoS) to users with real-time data such as voice, video and interactive services, the evolving IEEE 802.14 standard for HFC networks must include an effective priority scheme. The scheme separates and resolves collisions between stations in a priority order. It is important to simulate protocols under a practical environment. The proposed algorithm in this paper is simulated with the assumption that the collision detector made certain mistake due to noises. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is more efficient than existing tree-based algorithm under practical environment.
