  • 강건설계(robust design)는 낮은 비용으로 잡음에 강건한 고품질의 제품이나 공정을 설계하는 체계적이고 효율적인 방법이다. 그러나 강건설계의 과정 중 비표준 직교배열의 사용과 교호인자을 포함한 실험계획은 다소 복잡하고, 전문지식이 필요한 부분으로 비전문가에는 난해한 작업이다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 표준직교배열의 변형과 선점도를 이용하여 교호인자를 직교배열의 열에 자동으로 할당하는 전문가시스템 prototype을 개발하였다. 사용자가 수준별 인자수와 교호작용의 유무를 입력하면, 시스템은 적절한 직교배열을 선정하여 필요에 따라 변형하며, 제어인자와 교호작용을 직교배열표에 자동으로 할당하여 출력한다. 개발된 시스템을 사용함으로써 초보자도 직교배열을 쉽게 변형할 수 있으며 다수의 교호인자를 포함한 실험계획을 빠르게 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 이용된 지식은 문헌에서 추출하였으며, 추론 전략으로는 규칙기반추론(rule-based reasoning)을 이용하였다.

  • Parameter design is the core of the Taguchi method, and its purpose is to design product or processes such that the performance of product becomes robust to noise. Taguchi recommends to use the so called orthogonal arrays for parameter design. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the principles involved in constructing the Taguchi orthogonal arrays. Understanding such principles may be useful for finding better ways of utilizing the Taguchi orthogonal arrays as well as for developing better experimental designs.

  • 제품 및 공정의 설계와 개선을 위한 다구찌 방법은 제품의 품질향상을 위한 획기적 방법으로 최근 많은 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 품질문제 해결을 위한 다구찌의 기본 전략을 종래의 전통적 개념과의 비교를 통해 소개하였으며, 구체적 방법으로서 직교배열에 의한 실험계획과 SN비를 바탕으로 한 파라미터 설계방법에 대해 다구찌의 견해와 다른 대안들을 함께 소개하고 앞으로의 연구방향에 대해 논의하였다.

Analysis and Improvement of Interior Noise in a Passenger Car using Taguchi Orthogonal Array (다구찌 직교배열을 이용한 승용차의 실내소음 분석 및 개선)

  • The passenger car manufacturer should meet more and more strict requirements of customers on noise and vibration problems. It is proven that the Taguchi method is a powerful tool for improving the product quality in many areas. This paper employs the Taguchi method to reduce low-frequency booming noise in a passenger car. Selection of object function is very important to minimize interaction effects in the Taguchi method. We select logarithmic-scaled sound pressure level as an object function, which is commonly used to analyze the noise and vibration signals. The optimum noise level predicted with additive-model assumption agrees well with the test results. In addition, the optimum level is lower than the initial one by about 5 dB without any adverse effects. The results show that the Taguchi method can be applied efficiently to solve the noise problem in the passenger cars.

  • Formula race car is generally recognized as a vehicle which is optimally designed for on-road race track with the regulations of race host bodies. Especially, the uprights of suspension system decisively have effects on the performance of cornering and stability of race car's driving performance, which are very important factors in the design of race car. This paper is a study of optimal upright design of F1800 grade formula race car which are normally used in professional race circuit in Korea. To design optimally the front upright of F1800 formula race car, Taguchi's orthogonal array, which is known for more useful method than full factorial design experimental method in cost and time, is used with CAE method such as FEM analysis. And the result of this paper shows that Taguchi's orthogonal array employed for this optimal design is very useful for designing the front upright of race car by minimizing its weight as well as keeping its safety factor as enough as designer wants in the view of quality, cost and delivery at the early design step.

Impact toughness improvement of an undercarriage track shoe using the Taguchi orthogonal array experiment (다구찌 직교배열 실험을 이용한 무한궤도용 트랙 슈의 충격인성 향상 연구)

  • This study examined the toughness improvement of a track shoe used as the undercarriage of excavator and bulldozer parts. The excavator is operated under poor conditions, such as the build-up field and quarry. Therefore, the track shoe requires high strength and impact toughness to endure immense shock while at work. The track shoe was made of heat treated boron steel. The sufficient possibility of hardenability with the theoretical Jominy curve for boron steel was confirmed while quenching. The Taguchi orthogonal array experiment method was used to optimize the process variables, such as area reduction ratio and heat treatment conditions (tempering temperature and holding time), to achieve toughness improvement. The toughness of the track shoe increased with increasing area reduction, and a tempering temperature of $210^{\circ}C$ and a tempering time of 80 min are beneficial for improving the toughness of the track shoe.

  • In this paper, an approach of automatically finding and modifying the most appropriate orthogonal array (GO) is suggested and applied to a new structural optimization procedure with two steps. GO is motivated by the situation where finding a proper orthogonal array from the tables in the literature is difficult or impossible. Now the Taguchi method is made available for various numbers of variables and levels. In the two-step structural optimization, the Taguchi method equipped with GO and a shape optimization using the finite differencing method is consecutively applied. The existence or non-existence of an element can be taken as a factor level and this feature is utilized finding the best topology from a set of potential topologies suggested from the user's expertise. This greatly enhances applicability and one can expect a better result than the case in which each step is applied independently because these steps are complementary each other.

  • Ignoring interaction effects has been pointed out to be one of serious drawbacks in analysis of the parameter designs which are constructed by using orthogonal arrays. In this paper a detecting procedure of influential 2-factor inteactions with minimum expeimental runs is described, when each contrl factor has two levels. The presented method is based on the near orthogonal arrays which are very similar to orthogonal arrays in the statistical structure. And those arrarys are the same as trace-optimal balanced saturated two-level fractional factorial designs of resolution V.

  • Recently, the regulations from the government and the concerns of people be raised to the interest in exhaust and intake noise of passenger car as much as other vehicles. In these demands, performance prediction software was developed in this paper. In this study, Robust design was used for improving the noise reduction capacity of intake system with the performance prediction software. On the basis of the existing design, length and radius of each component that was thought to be effective to the performance of intake system was selected. At first, factors are arranged by using Ll8 table of orthogonal array and then optimum value can be obtained by modified Ll6 table of orthogonal array.

  • power transfer breaker is a device used to transfer the load from the electricity power line to the emergency generators. In case of overload, it also functions as a circuit breaker. In this work, a new mechanism for the device is suggested. Among the various design challenges, optimization of the trigger mechanism is identified as of central importance. Optimal design decisions are made with the use of Taguchi method.
