  • Reliability analysis-based maintenance system has the merit than elapsed time-based preventive maintenance system. First, it is possible to active handling of rolling stocks failures. In the past, Failure handling activities began when after increase failures rapidly. But if we can continuous manage of reliability than changing of failure tendency can know more quickly. Second, It is possible to using maintenance resources effectively. We can look forward to cost reduction to distributing of much less failures parts's maintenance resources. KORAIL builds reliability system called KTX-RCM for operating high-speed rolling stocks. But existing rolling stocks have not reliability system from the past. Fortunately, KORAIL started ERP system called KOVIS at 2007. KOVIS includes maintenance data for reliability analysis. So in this study analysis failure data for getting reliability number about existing passenger car. And we desire to maintenance connection plan.

A case study of radial nerve injury associated with humerus shaft fracture (상완골 간부 골절에 동반된 요골신경손상에 대한 치험 1례)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the patient with radial nerve injury associated with humerus shaft fracture, who was improved by Korean medical treatments. Methods : The patient was treated by Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture, electrical stimulation therapy, physical therapy, and herbal medicine according to "Locating Yang brightness meridians" theory. Coding result, Numeric rating scale(NRS) and digital grip dynamometer were used to evaluate the wrist drop, numbness of fingers and grip power. Results : The patient showed the first sign of recovery after 6 weeks from onset. After 9 weeks from onset, the patient could perform delicate manual activity. Grip power showed noticeable improvement as well as coding result and NRS. Conclusions : The results suggest that providing Korean medical treatments according to "Locating Yang brightness meridians" theory is a good method for treating radial nerve injury associated with humerus shaft fracture. But further studies are required to concretely prove the effectiveness of this method for treating radial nerve injury associated with humerus fracture.

  • This paper is about intelligent hexapod robot for the support walking of the aged person. The robot using various sensors and small camera has various abilities of forward backward walking, turing left or right, control the speed of walking, avoiding the obstacles and detecting risky situation of fire or gas. To let the aged feel soft and safe walking, we used special servo motor and developed hexapod walking mechanism and effective algorithm.

  • In this paper, we have designed a multi-band single layer microstrip patch antenna with slots for GPS L2/L1, GLONASS receivers. The antenna has dual feed structure and consists of single layer microstrip patch with slots and impedance matching circuit. The antenna specifications are a VSWR(Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) of less than 2.0, RHCP(Right-Hand Circular Polarization) characteristics over the operating frequency bands of GPS L2(1,227.6 MHz)/L1(1,575.42 MHz) and GLONASS(1,602 MHz), the maximum active antenna gain of more than 30 dB and the axial ratio of less than 3 dB. The antenna has been successfully evaluated by various tests.

Dorsalis Pedis Tendocutaneous Delayed Arterialized Venous Flap in Hand Reconstruction (지연처치후 동맥화된 족배 정맥 건피판을 이용한 수부의 재건)

  • We report two patients whose acute soft tissue and tendon defects in the hand were treated by the dorsalis pedis tendocutaneous delayed arterialized venous flap between 1994 and 1997. The surviving surface area was 100% in both patients. The flap size was $10{\times}10cm\;and\;6{\times}6cm$. At two weeks postoperatively, active flextion and passive extension commenced, and progressive resistance exercises were performed for an additional 5 weeks. Flaps showed a similar color match and skin texture compared with the normal skin of the hand. Advantages of the tendocutaneous delayed arterialized venous flap are developing a larger flap than can be obtained with pure venous flap or arterialized venous flap, increasing survival rate of the arterialized venous flap which permits using a composite flap, preservation of main artery of the donor site, taking thin non-bulky tissue and easy elevation without deep dissection. The disadvantages are the requirement of a two stage operation, donor site scarring and weak extension of the toe.

  • Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Korea, of the one part, and the EU and its member states, of the other part, has been effective, as of 1 Jul 2011. EU enlarged its members up to 27 countries including Romania and Bulgaria in 2007, and stood up as the second largest trading partner to the Korea right after the China. FTA, generally, shows the several different figures according to the countries concerned on the agreement The EU has long history and cultural, educational assets. In addition to that, the EU also has economical, industrial bases. Therefore, the EU seeks fruitful profits utilizing its intellectual property rights. There are copyrights and related rights, trade marks, geographical indications, designs, and patents, etc. on the Chapter 10. intellectual property rights of the Korea EU FTA. Among them, the others except geographical indications seem to be somewhat the terms advantageous to the Korea. It is possible to ask further requirements to the Korea in the years to come because the EU member countries are very much interested in the practical profits of intellectual property rights. Thus, it would be essential tasks for us to review the intellectual property rights protection and features of the Korea EU FTA.

Vibratory Loads Reduction of a Rotor in Slow Descent using Higher Harmonic Control Technology (고조파제어(HHC) 기법을 이용한 저속 하강 비행중인 로터의 진동하중 억제에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a higher harmonic control (HHC) methodology is applied to find the optimum input scenario for the vibratory hub loads reduction. A comprehensive aeroelastic analysis code, CAMRAD II, is used to model the HART (Higher-harmonic-control Aeroacoustic Rotor Test) II rotor, and parametric study is conducted for the best HHC inputs leading to a minimum vibration (MV) condition. The resulting outcomes are compared with the earlier HART II test results. It is indicated that the control input adopted in the MV condition showed less satisfactory results. The new MV condition obtained in the present investigation can achieve 45% lower vibration level than the baseline uncontrolled condition. The optimum HHC input results lead to 3/rev harmonic input having $0.8^{\circ}$ amplitude and $350^{\circ}$ phase angle. About 5% reduction in the required power is possible but accompanies with the increase of vibration level.

  • In this work, the dynamic characteristics of an oil-lubricated, short SFD with a central feeding groove are derived based on a theoretical analysis considering the effect of a groove. The validity of the analysis is investigated experimentally using an Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) system as an exciter. For the theoretical solution, the fluid film forces of a grooved SFD are analytically derived so that the dynamic coefficients of a SFD are expressed in terms of its design parameters. For the experimental validation of the analysis, a test rig using AMB as an exciter is proposed to identify the dynamic characteristics of a short SFD with a central groove. As an exciter, the AMB represents a mechatronic device to levitate and position the test journal without any mechanical contact, to generate relative motions of the journal inside the tested SFD and to measure the generated displacements during experiments with fairly high accuracy. Using this test rig, experiments are extensively conducted with different clearance, which is one of the most important design parameters, in order to investigate its effect on the dynamic characteristics and the performance of SFDs. Damping and inertia coefficients of the SFD that are experimentally identified are compared with the analytical results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the analysis. It is also shown that AMB is an ideal device for tests of SFDs.

  • South Korea and Japan are closely located in the Chinese character cultural area, so we have developed our culture not only with many similarities but also with own distinct ways. These were also in adoption and development of Western music. Unlike Korea, Japan is showing its potential through Opera 'Yuzuru'. Even though opera is Western music style, communicating Asian culture through their own language is one of the important issues to secure status as a cultural power in the world. As the field of opera is expanded to media entertainment with the development of digital technology, it is necessary to compare the development process of Japanese and Korean opera, which used contemporary opera as a tool of communication between cultures, It will help to develop into performing arts contents.

  • Human pharynx is unique, acting as a complex interchange between the oral cavity and esophagus, and between the nasal cavity and lungs. It is actively involved in the transport of food and liquid, producing the forces that guide that bolus into the upper esophagus and away from the adjacent larynx and lungs. This study intended to develop a biomechanical model of the human pharynx, utilizing Finite Element Method(FEM). Within each model changes in cross sectional intralumenal area were calculated and compared with the area from the computer-generated FE model. Area matching allowed estimation of intraluminal pressure gradients during swallow. The estimated pharyngeal pressure gradient varies from one region to another. The estimated pharyngeal pressure gradients showed different patterns for upper four levels and lower four levels. The contraction velocity for upper four levels is much higher than lower four levels. The higher contraction velocities and pressure gradients in the upper levels are consistent with the bolus velocities required for efficient swallow.
