옛말에 몸이 천냥이면 눈이 구백냥이라는 말이 있다. 그만큼 눈이 중요하다는 말이다. 이처럼 중요한 눈을 보호하기 위해 우리 몸은 눈을 보호하는 구조로 되어 있다. 위로는 머리뼈가 앞으로는 코뼈, 밖으로는 광대뼈가 철저하게 보호하고 있으며, 만약 외보로부터 눈으로 뭇엇이 날아오면 눈꺼풀과 속눈썹이 반사적으로 반응하여 눈을 감아 외부로부터 눈을 보호한다. 하지만 이런 보호 속에서도 눈은 혹사당하고, 시력이 점점 떨어지는 경우가 많다. 눈은 하루아침에 급격히 나빠지지 않지만 한 번 나빠지면 다시 회복하기가 쉽지 않다. 평소 건강한 눈을 위한 관리법에서 시력을 회복시켜주는 수술까지 눈에 대한 A to Z를 알아본다.

기자의 학창시절 중 가장 큰 고통(?)을 안겨 준 수업 시간은 화학시간이었다. 눈에는 보이지 않는, 하지만 여러 개의 분자와 원자로 구성된 성분을 어떻게 구분해야할지, 또 눈에 보이지 않는 성분이 도무지 이해되지 않았던 탓이었다. 악성코드나 웜.바이러스를 대하는 일반인들의 심정도 그러하지 않았을까. 같아 보이지만 서로 다른 악성코드와 웜.바이러스. 분석대응팀은 그 미세한 차이를 구별하고 분석하는 일을 한다.

홍채인식 시스템의 성능은 입력된 눈 영상으로부터 정확한 홍채 영역의 검출 및 효율적인 홍채코드의 생성 등의 영향을 받으나, 이를 위해서는 입력된 눈 영상에서 홍채 패턴이 선명해야 한다는 선행 조건이 존재한다. 초점이 맞지 않아 흐리게 나온 영상 눈을 감은 영상, 속눈썹에 의해 홍채영역이 가려진 영상, 움직임에 의해 블러링된 영상, 또는 홍채가 아닌 속눈썹 등의 다른 부분에 초점이 맞춰진 영상 등에서는 선명한 홍채 패턴을 얻을 수 없으므로 전체 인식 성능을 떨어뜨리는 요인이 된다. 그러므로 이러한 영상들을 자동으로 걸러내 제거해주는 눈 영상 화질 측정 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 눈 영상의 초점이 잘 맞는지 측정하는 방법을 제안하고 자체적으로 획득한 데이터베이스를 이용해 이를 테스트하였다.

Exposure to HDI(hexamethylene di-isocyanate) commonly used in vehicle crash repair workshops remains a leading cause of occupational asthma. Although skin and eye contamination are considered as absorption routes, there are no occupational exposure standards for skin and ocular exposure. This is the reason why there are more empirical data should be provided. Therefore this study was to determine contamination levels of HDI on the skin, eyes, work surfaces, respirators and eye protectors. There was evidence of contamination on a variety of work surfaces, for example, door handles, bench top and spray gun, etc. A high proportion(47~80%) of skin wipe samples from neck, forehead, back hand, palm and wrist was positive for HDI contamination, even though spray time was relatively brief. The contamination levels from spraying inside spray booth were generally higher than outside booth due to poor work practices and inappropriate personal protective use like safety gloves. Apprentices had higher exposure levels than the qualified painters, likely due to lack of the recognition of safety and hygiene. The extent of contamination inside the PPE might provide an indication of the potential for respiratory & skin exposure and ocular exposure. Eye fluid samples from 4 out of 14 workers had the positive detection of HDI contamination, due to poor work practices like no or inappropriate eye protection. Considering the potential for dermal & ocular exposure to contribute to possible health symptoms including respiratory sensitization, the empirical data point to a need for improving work practices and appropriate PPE selection, use and maintenance.

우리가 외부에서 획득하는 정보의 80%를 얻게 해 주는 눈은 다른 어떤 기관보다 예민하고 섬세한 기관이기 때문에 세심한 주의가 필요하다. 건조한 날씨가 계속되고 꽃가루까지 날리는 봄, 눈이 따갑거나 뻑뻑함을 느낀다면 안구건조증을 의심해봐야 한다. 우리 자신의 소중한 눈에 생기는 가장 흔한 질환인 안구건조증, 이제 제대로 알고 스스로 보호하도록 하자.

The human eye and skin is exposed daily to solar energy. Expecially, the ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure has been damaged as an important causative factor in corneal disease. These damage of cornea was effected the retina. Therefore the eye function was effected very significant damage. As a results the protect of UVR in the eye is very important in ocular health. Therefore in living the intensive ultraviolet radiation environment by solar energy, human eye have protected the cornea and eyeball by the UV-blocking sunglass, eyeglass, goggles, and contact lens. Finally the specific UV-blocker lens devices available to the primary care for the subjects by optician. Of course, in the future these specific lenses have to development and study by fellowship.

신규 IT 서비스 이용확산에 따른 정보유출 및 사이버 공격 예방, 중소기업 보안활동 지원, 정보보호 취약계층 지원 등 2009년에도 다양한 활동을 펼치게 될 KISA와 황중연 원장의 활동은 연초에도 분주했다. 특히, 지난 1$\sim$2월 황 원장의 활동 중 정보보호 전문가가 아닌 일반인을 대상으로 한 강연과 인터뷰가 눈에 띈다. 2009년 한해에도 국내 민간기업과 일반인의 정보보호 수준제고를 위한 황중연 원장과 KISA의 활발한 활동을 기대해 본다.
