SPEC: Space Efficient Cubes for Data Warehouses (SPEC : 데이타 웨어하우스를 위한 저장 공간 효율적인 큐브)

  • An aggregation query computes aggregate information over a data cube in the query range specified by a user Existing methods based on the prefix-sum approach use an additional cube called the prefix-sum cube(PC), to store the cumulative sums of data, causing a high space overhead. This space overhead not only leads to extra costs for storage devices, but also causes additional propagations of updates and longer access time on physical devices. In this paper, we propose a new prefix-sum cube called 'SPEC' which drastically reduces the space of the PC in a large data warehouse. The SPEC decreases the update propagation caused by the dependency between values in cells of the PC. We develop an effective algorithm which finds dense sub-cubes from a large data cube. We perform an extensive experiment with respect to various dimensions of the data cube and query sizes, and examine the effectiveness and performance ot our proposed method. Experimental results show that the SPEC significantly reduces the space of the PC while maintaining a reasonable query performance.

Formulation of Calculation Method for Inducing Current by Aerial Power Distribution Line (가공 배전선에 의한 전자유도 발생 전류 계산 방법)

  • The formulation of calculation method for electromagnetic inducing current by aerial power distribution line is established. Nearby telecommunication cables can be induced due to the leakage of neutral current because the neutral line of power distribution is grounded at every 50 m distance. By the existing calculation method, the neutral line is regarded as a shielding conductor and the neutral current roles as an inducing current. So the error range to real measurement value is largely extended because the changing effect of leakage current flowing in the ground is not reflected. The leakage current returns to the power substation through the ground and is cumulated as being closer to the substation. When this practical inducing mechanism is applied, the deviation rate of calculation can be drastically reduced within about 100 % range compared to 1000 % of the exsiting method.

  • It is important to obtain conn cytodiagnosis to classify background, cytoplasm, and nucleus from the diagnostic image. This study mose an algorithm that detects and classifies carcinoma cells of the uterine cervix in Pap smear using features of cervical cancer. It applies Median filter and Gaussian filter to get noise-removed nucleus area and also applies Kapur method in binarization of the resultant image. We apply 8-directional contour tracking algorithm and stretching technique to identify and revise clustered cells that often hinder to obtain correct analysis. The resulted nucleus area has distinguishable features such as cell size, integration rate, and directional coefficient from normal cells so that we can detect and classify carcinoma cells successfully. The experiment results show that the performance of the algorithm is competitive with human expert.

  • 오늘날 전 세계적으로 가속화되는 기상이변에 따라 돌발성, 국지성 폭우 및 폭설의 빈도가 급격히 증가하는 추세이다. 이 같은 돌발기상 현상은 고층 건물과 인구의 과밀화로 인해 열섬효과가 자주 발생하는 도심지에서 특히 높은 발생률을 보이며, 그로 인한 막대한 인명 및 재산상의 피해가 발생하고 있는 실정이다. 하지만 이러한 돌발성 강수 현상들은 주로 저고도에서 생성 및 발달되며, 그 수명은 2~3시간에 불과하기 때문에 현재의 국내 기상관측 시스템으로는 예측 및 예보에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 현재, 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 국내 관련 기관들에서는 도심지를 중심으로 한 저층 기상 관측을 위한 소형 레이더 네트워크 구축을 계획하고 있다. 그와 함께, 본 논문에서는 향후 도입될 소형 레이더 네트워크의 활용성을 증대시키고, 기상재해의 피해를 줄이는 방법으로써, 구글 어스의 지도 서비스를 기반으로 한 기상 레이더 자료 활용 실시간 돌발성 기상재해 감시/추적 및 경보 시스템 플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안하는 플랫폼은 전 세계적으로 통용되는 GIS 엔진으로서, 높은 확장성이 장점인 구글어스 플랫폼을 바탕으로 하며, 레이더 자료 분석 도구, 위험도 판별 도구 및 자료 표출/경보 도구 등으로 크게 세 가지의 기술도구 집단으로 구성된다. 제안한 플렛폼 상에서 시뮬레이션을 통해 구글어스 기반에서 레이더 누적강수량의 실시간 처리와 3차원 GIS 기반에서의 직관적인 경보 메시지 표출을 구현하였으며, 향후 각 기술 도구들 상의 기법들을 연구 및 개선함으로써 국토관측센서 네트워크 및 기상 재해 예 경보 체계를 위해 활용되어질 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • Recently, smart sensors are used in various environments, and the implementation of ad-hoc sensor networks (ASNs) is a hot research topic. Unfortunately, traditional sensor network routing algorithms focus on specific control issues, and they can't be directly applied to the ASN operation. In this paper, we propose a new routing protocol by using the Q-learning technology, Main challenge of proposed approach is to extend the life of ASNs through efficient energy allocation while obtaining the balanced system performance. The proposed method enhances the Q-learning effect by considering various environmental factors. When a transmission fails, node penalty is accumulated to increase the successful communication probability. Especially, each node stores the Q value of the adjacent node in its own Q table. Every time a data transfer is executed, the Q values are updated and accumulated to learn to select the optimal routing route. Simulation results confirm that the proposed method can choose an energy-efficient routing path, and gets an excellent network performance compared with the existing ASN routing protocols.

A Comparison of Acute Effect of Air Stacking Using Resuscitator Bag versus Balloon on Pulmonary Functions (도수 소생기와 풍선을 이용한 공기 누적이 폐 기능에 미치는 즉각적인 효과 비교)

  • Purpose : To compare the immediate effects of air stacking maneuver using resuscitator bags and balloons. Methods : Twenty healthy young adults participated in this study. Forced vital capacity (FVC) and peak cough flow (PCF) tests were performed at pre-intervention, and then, the maximum insufflation capacity (MIC), forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1), FEV1/FVC, peak expiratory flow (PEF), and peak cough flow (PCF) were measured using the air stacking maneuver via resuscitator bags and balloons. Interventions were randomly performed, and a 40-min break was provided between interventions. The evaluation process in this study was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) 2019. To compare the three outcomes measured at pre-and post-interventions, repeated measures analysis of variance was performed. Results : A significant difference was found in the MIC, FEV1, PEF, and PCF after the air stacking maneuver using resuscitator bags and balloons, whereas no significant difference was observed between resuscitator bags and balloons. Conclusion : No significant difference was found in the immediate effect of the air stacking maneuver using resuscitator bags and balloons in this study. Air stacking maneuver using balloons can increase the success rate of the techniques by providing visual feedback on the amount of air insufflation when performed with balloon blowing exercise. Balloons are cheaper and easier to buy compared to manual resuscitator bags; therefore, education on the air stacking maneuver using balloons will have a positive effect on pulmonary rehabilitation.

  • Harmful factors such as shock waves and fragments are generated at domestic ammunition testing sites and military shell shooting training sites due to frequent shooting and explosion tests. As a result, complaints from local residents are rapidly increasing, and there is a high risk of damage to facilities and human life. The recently constructed ammunition test site built a test facility for firing artillery and rocket propulsion in a narrow area with a radius of 300 m due to site restrictions, but damage to the facility is accumulating because there is no adequate protective structure. Therefore, in this study, quantitative data on harmful factors such as noise, vibration, shock wave, and thermal effect generated between artillery firing and rocket propulsion tests were measured, and explosion pressure characteristics were analyzed to design a protective structure, and use Autodyn to protect performance. to perform verification.

Analysis of Middle School Students' Verbal and Physical Interactions of Group Size in Small Group Learning Using Augmented Reality (소집단 크기에 따른 중학생의 증강현실을 활용한 소집단 학습에서 나타나는 언어적·물리적 상호작용)

  • This study analyzed paired middle school students' verbal and physical interactions in small group learning using augmented reality. Twelve 8th graders were paired to take classes of solubility and melting/boiling points based on augmented reality. These classes were videotaped and recorded. After the classes, all the students participated in a semi-structured interview. The results were analyzed in three sections; individual statement units of verbal interaction, interaction units of verbal interaction and physical interaction. In the individual statement units of verbal interaction, the proportion of information question/explanation was found to be high. In the interaction units of verbal interaction, the proportion of simple interaction was the highest, followed by elaborated interaction. Beneath the elaborate interaction, the proportion of cumulative interaction was found to be the highest, followed by reformative interaction. In the physical interaction, writing a worksheet and gazing at a virtual object were higher. On the basis of the results, effective ways to form a proper environment in small group learning using augmented reality are discussed.

The Effect of College Students' Extra Curricular Activities on Academic Achievement (대학생의 비교과 활동이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • Universities in Korea are presenting various extracurricular activities for survival and growth. Although the goals of extracurricular activities are diverse, one of the most important is to improve the academic achievement of college students. In this study, we looked at the relationship between the cumulative score of extracurricular activities by difficulty level and academic achievement. As a result, first, even if students' basic academic skills were controlled, extracurricular activities had a positive effect on student achievement. This suggests that universities should provide extracurricular activities that are more diverse and tailored to the needs of students. Second, the participation rate of female students in extracurricular activities is similar to that of male students, but the performance is very high. Third, Senior students show high levels of participation and performance. This means that it is necessary to actively increase the participation rate of female students and lower grade students. To this end, not only publicity and compensation, but also active interest and participation of instructors will be required.

Cumulative Therapeutic Effect of High-Voltage Microcurrent Therapy in Patients with Herniated Lumbar Disc (요추부 추간판 탈출증 환자에 대한 고전압 미세전류치료의 누적치료효과)

  • Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of high-voltage microcurrent therapy in patients with herniated lumbar disc (HLD) presenting radicular or back pain. Method: This is a retrospective study with 33 patients who are complaining pain with HLD findings on magnetic resonance image. Microcurrent therapy was applied to leg or paralumbar area. Treatment was conducted for seven minutes with 250~1000 uA intensity as high as the patients could tolerate via stimulating probe with roller type and the frequency was 60 Hz with a sine wave pulse. The visual analogue scale (VAS) was measured just before and after the treatment. Results: The degree of pain reduction (△VAS) was 1.6 points after treatment on average. The △VAS according to the diagnosis, stenosis, dermatome area, medication, pain site and caudal epidural block was not statistically significant. However, the △VAS according to the number of treatments (< 3, ≥ 3 times) showed a statistically significant difference (p=0.04). Conclusion: High-voltage microcurrent therapy may help reduce lumbar or lumbosacral radiating pain after the procedure. The effect was better when microcurrent was applied three times or more. This result suggests that the microcurrent would have cumulative effect on reducing radicular or back pain in patients with HLD.
