  • In this study, we attempted in preparing high precision EEG measuring equipment. To measure EEG in high efficiency, pre-amplifier should get high performance common mode rejection ratio. Also, separation amplifier is essential to eliminate common line noise. So, our study were pointed at elevating the efficiency of eliminating noise, user safety and low noise characteristics. Prepared high precision pre-amplifier for EEG was A/D converted to automatically classify $\alpha$ wave, $\beta$ wave and $\theta$ wave. And converted data were Fast Fourier Transformed with real time DSP (Digital Signal Processing). Clinical demonstrations were carried out with healthy students, aged between 20 to 26 who has no histories of illness. To recognize the efficiency of the EEG, prepared EEG were used with MS equipment in low stimulated state and high stimulated state. Then, we studied at the effect of sensitivity on brain wave. From this study, it is known that our EEG equipment is efficient in sensitivity evaluation and suitable stimulations for each psychological state are required.

  • In this paper, we propose sensibility recognition model that recognize user's sensibility using brain waves. Method to acquire quantitative data of brain waves including priority living body data or sensitivity data to recognize user's sensitivity need and pattern recognition techniques to examine closely present user's sensitivity state through next acquired brain waves becomes problem that is important. In this paper, we used pattern recognition techniques to use Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) that is pattern recognition techniques that recognize user's sensibility state through brain waves. We measures several subject's emotion brain waves in specification space for an experiment of sensibility recognition model's which propose in this paper and we made a emotion DB by the meaning data that made of concentration or stability by the brain waves measured. The model recognizes new user's sensibility by the user's brain waves after study by sensibility recognition model which propose in this paper to emotion DB. Finally, we estimates the performance of sensibility recognition model which used brain waves as that measure the change of recognition rate by the number of subjects and a number of hidden nodes.

  • Electroencephalography (EEG), a representative method of identifying temporal and spatial changes in brain activity, is a voluntary electrical activity measurable in the human scalp. Various interface technologies have been provided to control EEG activity, and it is possible to operate a machine such as a wheelchair or a robot through brainwaves. The characteristics of EEG data are collected in various types of channels in real time, and a server system for analyzing them is required to have an independent and lightweight system for the platform. In these days, the Spring platform is used as a large business server as an independent, lightweight server system. In this paper, we propose an EEG analysis system using the Spring server system. Using the proposed system, the reliability of EEG control can be enhanced, and analysis and control interface expansion can be provided in various aspects such as game and medical areas.

  • This study aims to examine the effect of child-centered group play therapy on the improvement of withdrawn preschool children's daily stress, anxiety, peer interaction and EEG variation. The research subjects are 12 children of 3-5 years of age who are over 65T in the social-withdrawal scale of KPRC(Korean Personality Rating Scale for Children). They were recommended by class teachers due to the withdrawal behavior at D kindergarten in Seoul. The experimental group received 12 sessions of the child-centered group play therapy program, twice a week for 35 minutes. But the control group did not receive any of the child-centered group play therapy program. To verify the effects of the program, a Mann-Whitney-U test of the non-parametric was preceded and homogeneity between the two groups was verified. Also, a Wilcoxon's signed-rank test was conducted to check on the pre-to-post changes of daily stress, anxiety, peer-interaction and EEG variation by using SPSS 18.0. The results of this research showed that the child-centered group play therapy program decreases daily stress and anxiety, while it increases positive peer-interaction and the EQ of withdrawal children. The result of this study serves as a baseline data about the effects of child-centered group play therapy for withdrawal children with emotional difficulties.

  • The purpose of this study is to monitor the physiological changes by measuring EEG, blood pressure, heart rate, etc after applying progressive relaxation technique to university archery players in order to verify the effect of progressive relaxation through respiration, and, ultimately, improve an athlete's archery performance. This study chose 13 female archery athletes. The EEG, blood pressure, and heart rate of the athletes were measured before applying Jacobson's progressive relaxation technique for 12 weeks, during which the EEG, blood pressure, and heart rate were measured 3 times a week after 15 to 20 minutes of training before every measurement. We used the SPSS18.0 program for technical analysis to check the general features of the athletes and carried out the paired t-test to examine the changes made to the EEG, blood pressure, and heart rate of a single test group before and after the experiment. All statistical level of significance was maintained at ${\alpha}=0.5$. The results are as follows. First, after 12 weeks of appliance, between the targets' relative ${\alpha}$ wave and ${\beta}$ wave, the relative ${\alpha}$ wave showed a statistically significant increase while the relative ${\beta}$ wave showed no changes. Second, after 12 weeks of appliance, in terms of blood pressure, the systolic pressure showed no changes while the diastolic pressure showed a statistically significant change. Third, there was no statistically significant change to the heart rate. In conclusion, progressive relaxation through breathing has a positive effect on the archery athletes.

  • This study investigated the effects of Lavandula angustifolia (L. angustifolia) aroma on the brain electrical activity evaluated by electroencephalogram (EEG) in female adults with sleep disorders. The subjects were 28 healthy female adults and their sleep disorders were classified by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. EEG electrodes were attached at the frontal (F3, F4), temporal (T3, T4), occipital (O1, O2), parietal (P3, P4), reference, and ground regions according to the International 10-20 system. Subjects were exposed to the L. angustifolia aroma for 3 min. Results showed that L. angustifolia aroma decreased the occipital and parietal alpha powers, and increased the frontal theta power and occipital beta power in subjects with good sleep quality. On the other hand, L. angustifolia aroma increased the theta power in the all cranial regions after aroma treatment in subjects with poor sleep quality. In conclusion, L. angustifolia aroma diminishes a state of wakefulness in the brain and helps individuals to fall asleep. Therefore, L. angustifolia aroma may have beneficial effect for female adults with sleep disorders.
