  • Recently, rural areas are rapidly developing, while existing infrastructure is inadequate and aging compared to developing rural areas. The most representative of these is the sewer system. Therefore, in this study, the rural area of Gyeonggi A city was selected as the study area and analyzed the effect of the sewer maintenance business on the operation of the sewage treatment plant. The analysis items were pollutant treatment efficiencies, the changes of inflow sewage amount, sewage concentration, influnet load, and C / N ratio by comparing before and after the development. As a result of the analysis, the sewage amount increased significantly after the development, and the sewage concentration increased after the development and the load of the sewage in the wastewater treatment plant also increased after the development. And improvement and management of inflow of unidentified water such as infiltration water and influent water in the sewage pipe was improved due to improvement of sewage pipe, which is considered to have affected the increase of C / N ratio and the improvement of TN and TP removal efficiency. The results of this study can be used as a representative example of the sewerage maintenance project in the rural area that positively influenced the operation of the sewage.

Existing literature suggests that sport event and destination image could interact to influence tourism behaviours. The purpose of this study w as to identify the factors influencing local image and re-visit intention in the 68th Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Sport Event held in Yesan city. The results of the study are as follows; First, as a result of factor analysis on the satisfaction with the sports event composed of 17 items, three factors were categorized, which were 'event management', 'event facility' and 'supporting facilities'. Second, satisfaction with local event had a positive effect on local image. Especially, satisfaction with event management had greater effect on local image than event facilities and supporting facilities. Third, as satisfaction with local event had positive effect on re-visitation intention, satisfaction with sports event had positive effect on the success of the sport event itself and re-visitation intention for the region. Fourth, as local image had a positive effect on re-visitation intention, strategic approaches to linking factors of tourism are required to attract visitors in addition to sports events.

  • Objectives: There are many habitual drinking in rural area. So it is the key point of drinking control policy in rural community to understand the drinking behavior in leisure time and to have an appropriate screening method for problem drinking. CAGE and AUDIT are famous screening tools for problem drinking and alcoholics. Even though there are some studies to validate CAGE and AUDIT which translated in Korean, they were not studied with community based population but with hospital based patients. In this study we assessed the usefulness of CAGE and AUDIT for selecting problem drinking in a rural population, and compared problem drinkers with normal group about spending leisure, Methods: The study subjects were 120 residents over 20 years old who lived in 3 districts in Dong-San Myun near Chun-chon city. We made up questionnaire by interview from Feb. 13 to 19, 2004. Results: The mean age of study population was 66.01 .26 years old. Defining the problem drinking as more than 12 score in AUDIT and more than 2 score in CAGE, the proportion of problem drinker was 30.600 and 28.9% respectively. This proportions were higher than those of other national wide studies. There were significant difference in drinking frequency per week and amount per one episode between problem drinker and normal group. Experience about driving, accident, injury, disturbance in working and quarrel after drinking were also significantly different. Problem drinker were more tolerable to the bad social culture about drinking (eg. force to drink, bad drunken habit. overdrinking, drinking relay etc.) than normal group. Watching TV and playing with neighborhood were most frequent method of spending leisure in this study population, normal male group exercised more frequently in leisure time than problem drinker. Conclusions: It may be useful to use CAGE and AUDIT score for screening problem drinking in rural community. Appropriate utilization of leisure time may he important for control of problem drinking in rural area.

Van Manen's hermeneutics phenomenological method was used. Participants of the study were 8 people who live with a Vietnamese Daughter-in-law. Data was collected through individual in-depth interviews. 8 essential themes and 28 themes were derived from the data analysis. The rural elderly women who had Vietnamese Daughter-in-law had to continuously provide support for their son's family and were subject to a high level of stress due to the differences between Korean culture and Vietnamese culture. The findings can be used to develop a practical and comprehensive community nursing intervention based on the perspectives of all family members. For further study, exploratory study on the grandson who has a Vietnamese mother or the son who has a Vietnamese wife is recommanded.

  • Objectives: To identify and compare the health behaviors and health status of the elderly between urban and rural areas using the data of the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Methods: The study population comprised 3,823 elderly people aged 65 years or older who participated in the $4^{th}$ KNHANES (2007-2009). The areas were classified into "large cities," "cities," and "rural areas" using the administrative and residential areas. The health behaviors and health status of the elderly between the rural and urban areas were compared using a complex sample design with the Rao-Scott chi-square test and weighted multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: Compared to large cities, the odds ratios (ORs) (95% confidence interval [CI]) of rural areas were as high as 1.58 (1.25-2.01) for the influenza vaccination and as low as 0.47 (0.37-0.59) for flexibility exercises, 0.56 (0.38-0.81) for muscular exercises, and 0.76 (0.62-0.92) for obesity. The ORs (CI) for osteoarthritis and diabetes mellitus were as low as 0.81 (0.66-0.99) and 0.70 (0.55-0.89), respectively. Conclusions: The health behaviors and health status of the elderly are better in rural areas than in urban areas despite the fact that the socioeconomic conditions in rural areas are poorer that those in urban areas. These findings suggest that programs suitable for residential areas should be developed and that studies to explain the differences in residential areas are needed.

In general, the development process were The procedures of 'balancing development-unbalancing development- rebalancing development'. The first restructuring is a balancing development strategy represented as the three-district construction and the second restructuring is the unbalancing development strategy represented as the preferential development of the east area after reformation & development. The third regional development strategy making current progress is a new regional balancing development policy including the great development of the west district. The study grasped how much the regional balancing development policy contributed to bridge the gap among other areas with coefficient of variation to analyze changes of regional development related indexes among the areas before/after the regional balancing development policy which had been progressed after 1991 with harmonious development among areas as its goal was carried out. It was also analyzed that the Chinese government's goal of regional development policy was how well-suited to the Chinese reality through regression analysis, so far.
