  • Objective : This study aims to identify international academic trends regarding the effectiveness of telehealth for the elderly through bibliographic analysis and to secure the foundation for providing basic data and subsequent research to promote domestic research. Methods : This study collected bibliographic information on the effectiveness of telehealth for the elderly published in international academia from January 2010 to December 2020 and analyzed and visualized the relationships between information using VOS viewer software (version 1.6.16, CWTS, Netherlands, 2020). Results : First, the research trend analysis shows a 678% increase in the number of papers published over the past 10 years. Most of the research was conducted in 145 (45.89%) Health care science services, and the most papers were published in 39 Telemedicine and e-Health journals (9.11%). Second, the network analysis showed that Oxford University had a total of 168 connections in other countries and institutions in the U.K, indicating the strongest influence in international academic societies. Third, as a result of the keyword analysis, 'older adults (64 times)', 'care (62 times)', 'health (50 times)', 'technology (40 times)', and 'outcomes (41 times)' were used in the study. Conclusion : In this study, the trends and topics of international academia on the effectiveness of telehealth for the elderly were analyzed to form the basis for research activities and the institutional implementation of telehealth for the elderly in Korea.

  • Recently, there are increasing social needs for stable supply of electric power and securing high quality of information and communication services. In this work, to propose the effective protection countermeasures of information-oriented equipments against lightning surges, the protection effects of surge protective devices(SPDs) were experimentally investigated using actual-sized test circuits in various installation conditions. As a result, it was found that the protection effect of SPDs is quite different depending on the factors, such as the grounding system of power source, numbers of branch circuits, wiring method of grounding leads, and etc. In case of installing SPDs for information-oriented equipments, including all electric power lines and communication lines, the common grounding should be the most effective. Wiring method containing grounding leads with power lines in metal conduit is suitable to improve the surge cutoff performance of SPDs.

  • As topics of researchers become diverse horizontally or vertically, academic libraries have difficulties to identify the dynamic change of researchers' needs for academic publications. This research aims to illustrate the topic areas of researchers in a department of university by analyzing bibliographies of their publications. First, researchers' publications were used to discover the topic areas where the researchers had published. Second, the cited publications in those papers were analysed to identify the expanded topic areas of these researchers. Finally, highly cited journals were analyzed by network analysis method. The major finding is that the importance of topic areas by the number of journals was not necessarily proportional to that by the number of papers. Researchers have a tendency to use many papers in a small number of journals in a certain topic area. Furthermore, the importance of topic areas discovered by researchers' publications was not the same as that discovered by researchers' citations.

  • In order to ascertain disciplinary differences in publication patterns that can help improve assessment of research performance in Korea, we analyzed the bibliometric data of six disciplines from Korea Citation Index. Results showed differences in research size, competitiveness, productivity, impact, and collaboration among disciplines. Disciplines in science were the largest in terms of author and institution followed by humanities and social science, but humanities produced the most publications per author, followed by social science and science disciplines. Sociology publications received most citation per paper but humanities received most citations per author, which was greatly influenced by the number of co-authors per paper. Distribution of author counts per paper varied widely across disciplines. Humanities were dominated by single-author publications, whereas the majority of publications in sciences were co-authored. The study also highlighted differences in citation lag time and illustrated differences in distribution and impact of core authors and institutions across disciplines.

  • The elevator system which is operated nowadays at skyscrapers, apartments and enterprises does not offer standby passengers any information of which floor the elevator is going to stop or skip. This study will introduce the system that shows the Passengers a running schedule of the elevator. If this system is utilized for current systems, it will bring so much benefit such as shortening waiting time or choosing alternatives for the passengers. Furthermore, this system will be set up not stopping the floor for the passengers who choose alternatives like using stairs or escalators with using toggle switches. This will be efficient to save the electric power.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether bibliographic factors influence citation speed and the number of citations or not and whether citation speed affects the number of citations. Another purpose of this study is that if bibliographic factors carry out a significant role. For this analysis, this study is based on the assumption that all papers published by researchers in South Korea distributed power law shape. The main results of this study are as follows: First, the papers written by foreign first authors or reprint authors were cited more quickly from first citation speed and average citation speed. These papers were cited much more from first citation speed and average citation speed than by domestic first authors or reprint authors. The papers, collaborated by international researchers, were cited more quickly from first citation speed but were not different from average citation speed than by only domestic researchers. The papers, collaborated by international researchers, were cited much more than by only domestic stand-alone researchers. The number of authors and the impact factor influenced first citation speed, average citation speed and the number of citations. Second, the faster first citation speed and the slower average citation speed, the more papers were cited. First citation speed more affected the higher number of citations than the average citation speed. Third, all five bibliographic factors influenced the impact relationship from first citation speed to the number of citations through the moderating effect analysis. Fourth, only three bibliographic factors (the country of the first author; the country of the reprint author; the number of the coauthors) affected the impact relationship from first citation speed to the number of citations but two bibliographic factors did not influence through the moderating effect analysis.

  • In the context of open science, data sharing and reuse are becoming important researchers' activities. Among the discussions about data sharing and reuse, data journals and data papers shows visible results. Data journals are published in many academic fields, and the number of papers is increasing. Unlike the data itself, data papers contain activities that cite and receive citations, thus creating their own intellectual structures. This study analyzed 14 data journals indexed by Web of Science, 6,086 data papers and 84,908 cited references to examine the intellectual structure of data journals and data papers in academic community. Along with the author's details, the co-citation analysis and bibliographic coupling analysis were visualized in network to identify the detailed subject areas. The results of the analysis show that the frequent authors, affiliated institutions, and countries are different from that of traditional journal papers. These results can be interpreted as mainly because the authors who can easily produce data publish data papers. In both co-citation and bibliographic analysis, analytical tools, databases, and genome composition were the main subtopic areas. The co-citation analysis resulted in nine clusters, with specific subject areas being water quality and climate. The bibliographic analysis consisted of a total of 27 components, and detailed subject areas such as ocean and atmosphere were identified in addition to water quality and climate. Notably, the subject areas of the social sciences have also emerged.
