Evaluation of Elderly and Disable walker Using Bromechanical Human Model (생체역학 모델을 이용한 노인 및 장애인용 보행기 평가)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국인 표준체형과 유사한 사람의 의료 영상 자료를 이용하여 인체 골격계 모델을 개발하였다. 이를 동역학 해석 상용 소프웨트어인 RecurDynTM에 탑재하여 인체 시뮬레이션 모듈을 개발하였고 타당성을 검증을 거친 후 노인의 앉기-서기 및 보행 동작해석에 적용하였다. 노인이 보행기(elderly walker)를 사용하여 앉기-서기 동작을 할 때 하지관절 기구학의 변화는 미비하였으나 보행 시 각 관절의 가동범위가 감소하였고 동작시간이 증가하였다. 또한 근전도 해석결과 일부 발목 주변 근육들과 햄스트링 근육에서 근활성치가 줄거나 활성시간이 줄었다. 이러한 변화는 보행기를 이용한 보행 때 하지의 기여도가 감소했기 때문에 발생하는 현상으로 생각된다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 시뮬레이션 기술은 다양한 인체 정보 콘텐츠분야에 널리 활용될 것으로 생각된다.

Biomechanical Analysis of Elderly Fall Related Risk Factors using Downhill Walking on Treadmill (트레드밀 내리막 보행을 이용한 노인 낙상관련 위험요인의 운동역학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate biomechanical differences between young and old adults during downhill walking on a treadmill in order to understand the mechanisms of elderly falls. Eighteen healthy young females(YG: yrs: 21.17±1.5) and eighteen healthy old females(OG: yrs: 66.67±1.33) participated in this study. They were asked to walk at their preferred speed on a treadmill at level, 7.5° and 15° decline. OG walked more wobbly in the medial and lateral directions than YG(p<.05). As slope got steeper, OG had smaller ROM(range of motion) of ankle and knee joints compared with YG. However, there was no difference in ROM of the hip between OG and YG, but maximum extension angle of OG was smaller compared with YG(p<.05). Smaller extensor moment was generated on OG during downhill walking(p<.05). It was hypothesized that more risk factors would be found on older people compared to young people during downhill. However, older people actually walks with a safer strategy compared to young people during downhill. Finally, current findings about biomechanical characteristics of elderly walking would provide useful fundamental information for a follow-up study regarding the prevention of elderly fall during their daily life.

A Study on the Method of Differentiating Between Elderly Walking and Non-Senior Walking Using Machine Learning Models (기계학습 모델을 이용한 노인보행과 비노인보행의 구별 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Gait analysis is one of the research fields for obtaining various information related to gait by analyzing human ambulation. It has been studied for a long time not only in the medical field but also in various academic areas such as mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer engineering. Efforts have been made to determine whether there is a problem with gait through gait analysis. In this paper, as a pre-step to find out gait abnormalities, it is investigated whether it is possible to differentiate whether experiment participants wear elderly simulation suit or not by applying gait data to machine learning models for the same person. For a total of 45 participants, each gait data was collected before and after wearing the simulation suit, and a total of six machine learning models were used to learn the collected data. As a result of using an artificial neural network model to distinguish whether or not the participants wear the suit, it showed 99% accuracy. What this study suggests is that we explored the possibility of judging the presence or absence of abnormality in gait by using machine learning.

A Study on the Analysis of the Walking Environment in the Residential Area for the Elderly in Busan Using Spatial Analysis (공간 분석 기법을 적용한 부산 노인 주거지의 보행환경 분석에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to deduce key indicators in evaluating the pedestrian environment for the elderly in Busan, which has entered an aging society, and to propose policy improvement measures. The key indicators were selected based on prior research and surveys, and the effectiveness of those indicators were measured through evaluations conducted on three places which have the highest proportion of the elderly population in Busan. The summaries of analysis are as follow. First, the three places are hillslide residential areas, and areas of activity that the elderly have were very narrow due to the restrictions on their movement caused by slope. Second, the areas were filled with a number of illegally parked vehicles. And the degree of segregation of pedestrian and vehicle and the level of safety were very low. Third, the streets with steep slopes of the target site force the elderly to move vertically, and for this reason, the elderly are expressing difficulties in outdoor activities. Fourth, it was found that the target site lacked a space for relaxation during outdoor activities. The poor walking environment not only limit the essential and social activities of the elderly, but also adversely affects the health and quality of life of the elderly. In order to maintain the health of the elderly and improve the quality of life, actions should be taken to improve the walking factors that affect the movement and external activities of the elderly.

Impact of Musculoskeletal Pain on Pedestrian Crossing among the Aged (노인의 근육뼈대계 통증이 횡단보도 보행에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to examine the impact of musculoskeletal pain on pedestrian crossing using a sample that consisted of 282 aged people. The research method involved an examination of the musculoskeletal pain of the elderly using a musculoskeletal questionnaire. The subjects were also told to walk across four- and six-lane pedestrian crossings while their gait velocity, step count, and step time were measured. The research results for pain by body regions indicated that waist pain had the highest complaint rate(33.3%). When there was musculoskeletal pain in the waist and leg/foot, gait velocity also decreased and step count and step time increased. However, usage of a cane turned out to have a positive impact on pedestrian crossing. Nevertheless, no significant relationship between waist and leg/foot pain and pedestrian crossing characteristics was found. We expect there will be continuous further studies on the subject of diverse physical problems of the aged and pedestrian crossing.

  • 보행자 교통사고는 보행자와 운행 중인 차량 간 발생한 충돌사고로 도로 및 주변 환경 등에 영항을 받는다. 이 연구에서는 2018년부터 2022년까지 서울특별시에서 발생한 노인 보행자 교통사고 자료를 수집하여 보행자 교통사고의 사고 요인을 분석하였다. 분석에 있어서 고려된 연구모형은 랜덤포레스트, Gradient Boosting regression(GBR)이다. 분석 결과 서울특별시의 지리적 특성과 교통 통행 패턴을 반영하여 교통약자를 대상으로 하는 교통정책을 보완하고, 보행 안전을 강화하는 것이 필요하다.

Effect of Proprioceptive Exercise on Walking Velocity, Activities of Daily Living and Depression in Elderly Women (고유수용성 운동이 여성노인의 보행속도, 일상생활활동 및 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of proprioceptive exercise on walking velocity, activities of daily living(ADL) and depression in elderly women. This study was nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Subjects were divided into two group(exercise group=17, control group=15). Experimental group conducted proprioceptive exercise program for eight-week. Walking velocity was assessed by 10m-walk test and depression and ADL were assessed by questionnaire. The collected data analyzed by Wilcoxon singed rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. The exercise group significantly improved walking velocity. But control group changes were negligible. The program was effective on walking in elderly women.

Analysis-based Pedestrian Traffic Incident Analysis Based on Logistic Regression (로지스틱 회귀분석 기반 노인 보행자 교통사고 요인 분석)

  • The characteristics of elderly traffic accidents were identified by reflecting the situation of the elderly population in Korea, which is entering an ultra-aging society, and the relationship between independent and dependent variables was analyzed by classifying traffic accidents of serious or higher and traffic accidents of minor or lower in elderly pedestrian traffic accidents using binomial variables. Data collection, processing, and variable selection were performed by acquiring data from the elderly pedestrian traffic accident analysis system (TAAS) for the past 10 years (from 13 to 22 years), and basic statistics and analysis by accident factors were performed. A total of 15 influencing variables were derived by applying the logistic regression model, and the influencing variables that have the greatest influence on the probability of a traffic accident involving severe or higher elderly pedestrians were derived. After that, statistical tests were performed to analyze the suitability of the logistic model, and a method for predicting the probability of a traffic accident according to the construction of a prediction model was presented.

Improvement of Pedestrian Speed Criteria for the Pedestrian Green Interval at Silver Zone (노인보호구역 보행자녹색시간 산정을 위한 보행속도 기준 개선)

  • This study investigated basic data on walking characteristics, including walking speed and cognitive-response for the elderly, and based on these, the time of walking signal was calculated. The on-site survey examined the actual pedestrian crossing speed using a stopwatch, and the age was divided into groups of ordinary people and the elderly. Analysis of the data showed that the average walking speed for the general public was 1.29 m/s, while the average walking speed for the elderly was 1.13 m/s, higher than that of the general public. In addition, the lower speed of the 15th percentile was analyzed to 1.01 m/s for the general population and 0.85 m/s for the elderly, showing a lower walking speed than the standard for the general area and 0.8 m/s for the protected area. However, for senior citizens who use walking sticks or wheelchairs, the speed of the lower 15th-percentile is 0.73 m/s, which is lower than the current standard of protected areas, according to the analysis.

  • 최근 보행자 행태를 반영한 미시적 시뮬레이션 분석이 가능하게 되었다. 차량 분석과 유사하게 보행자 행태 중 가장 빈번히 사용되는 것은 보행속도로 이는 횡단보도 보행자 녹색시간 산정과도 매우 밀접한 관계가 있다. 또한 보도의 밀도를 산정함에 있어서 보행자 속도는 중요한 역할을 담당한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 횡단보도의 보행자 속도를 실측하고, 이를 기반으로 미시적 시뮬레이션인 VISSIM의 주요 파라메타인 보행속도를 이용하여 역삼역 일대의 보행실태를 점검해 보았다. 분석에 사용된 보행속도 실측자료는 서울시 16개 횡단보도에서 조사되었으며, 연령별로 일반인(64세 이하)과 노인(65세 이상)을 구분하여 분석하였다.
